However, I later received an unexpected separate office visit charge in addition to the preventive exam billing. My concern was not the care itself, but the lack of transparency regarding billing. During the wellness visit, the provider briefly reviewed outside lab results I had brought with me, and I was later billed for a separate office visit associated with that discussion. I was not informed during the appointment that this could result in an additional charge. After reviewing my visit documentation, I also felt portions of the note did not fully reflect my understanding of the visit, particularly regarding the extent of evaluation performed beyond the wellness exam. After raising concerns and providing supporting documentation, the office acknowledged overlap between the preventive visit and additional billing and indicated the matter would be reviewed. However, I did not receive a final follow-up or resolution regarding the coding review or reimbursement request. I would encourage the practice to improve communication around preventive visit billing and provide more consistent follow-up during billing disputes.

In the portal I listed 3 things I would like to discuss. When I arrived the doctor stated that I would have to make 2 additional appointments to address my concerns because she had other patients and needed to see them too. She didn't even look at my chart to see that I had just given birth. I complained about a mass growing and she examined me and stated that she couldn't feel anything so she couldn't refer me to anyone. I also asked her for some medications but she refused to prescribe me anything and stated again that I would need to make another appointment. I left the office with a $400 doctor bill despite the fact that she was rude, dismissive, and unprepared. I then received a call several weeks later from a clinic about an ultrasound for a mass, come to find out she referred me to the wrong doctor who specialized in abnormal growths related to the throat and my mass was located in a different part of my body. Dr. Heyer made a thorough evaluation, ordered numerous diagnostic tests, and tested my progress on and off the medicine. He also checked blood clotting factors. Dr. Heyer made numerous calls to radiologists to confirm and evaluate their opinions, and he let me know all the results of these discussions. He spent a lot of time with me, as I had numerous complications from the clot and/or medicine. He provided his opinions but listened to everything I said very carefully. He also spent a great deal of office time evaluating my case. Ultimately, he recommended I discontinue Coumadin. My leg and ankle have felt great since I stopped using it. I highly recommend Dr. Heyer. He's a great listener and doer who cares about the patient. And he is very fast with follow-up.

I feel truly blessed and lucky that I found Dr. Heyer and that he took such an interest in my medical needs. I was also impressed with the other staff in his office. I saw several people walk in, say hello to the office staff by name (they also knew the patients by name), and continue to the back of the office. Reason/Red Flag: Dr. (Cale) was requesting his name replace One Health (name) on the ID card. I was told it is "his office practice", not a practice at other One Health locations. Note: He is Registered as One Health. He was requesting that the insurance company perform a prohibited change. Humana contacted his office to explain that his request could not be made. The office agreed to keep the new patient appointment the next day. After checking-in at 10:40am, an office staff member came into the waiting room and said the appointment had to be rescheduled/canceled, without explanation. Upon asking, they said, "they double-booked". At the same time, another patient arrived and was told her appointment had to be rescheduled/canceled. Note: There was ample time prior to both appointments to call and reschedule instead of doing so at the office and causing a great inconvenience. Very inferior office. It shows in the quality of practices and care. May this help the next person.

Call finally came in today and it wasn't even the doctor! No options, no request for a second visit to discuss. Just straight to the medicine. No thanks. These things are scary for people and to just have disregard because they're too busy? There are plenty of better doctors and practices.
