For a family-run business, their prices on quotes are extremely fair. David and Edward met with me and went through various solutions of my pool problem. My pool was built in the '80s and was not up to code, it split around the perimeter halfway down the water level and I lost over 10,000 gallons of water. It used to be a 22,000 gallon pool and by talking with David and Edward, we agreed on a better repair solution, also to half the amount of water that we would need after it was finished. At this time of year in Arizona, the temperatures exceed 100° f. Their crew was friendly and respectful of property, they had to work in this horrible heat, but they had no complaints. The crew even stayed past their normal finish time so that they wouldn't have to come in the next day and disrupt me and my dogs. Throughout the entire process, Andrew kept me up to date and gave me a few more ideas on pool design. This family-run business also collaborates with other companies to ensure the process is done correctly and up to code. My wife and I couldn't be happier with the end result, now bear in mind this was a pool repair company and a pool design company, they could have finished the entire pool, but I already had a different company on standby and they completely understood. There was no pressure to finish the entire pool with their company, which to me means that they are a very honest family-run business. We hired Innovative for a significant landscape and pool renovation project and, unfortunately, our experience fell well short of expectations. The project ultimately ran approximately 1 1/2 years beyond the original anticipated timeline. Throughout the process, we dealt with multiple project managers, inconsistent communication, and numerous instances where completed work had to be redone. This included portions of the tile/travertine work in both our courtyard and backyard. Many of the pieces are still cracked and chipped. We also experienced significant issues with the landscaping. Many of the plants died within the first six months, irrigation/waterlines had to be corrected, and we found ourselves making many of the plant selections rather than receiving the level of design guidance we expected. Permitting was another area that required considerable follow-up on our part, including gas permits that were never properly completed. Unfortunately, some of the issues went beyond delays and inconvenience. On August 15, 2025, drainage and grading problems resulted in flooding that caused more than $12,000 in damage. We ultimately filed a complaint with the Arizona Registrar of Contractors, and drainage/piping corrections were completed in November 2025. The only way to get them to repair the issues that they refused to correct and said was not part of their scope of work, even though they fully demolished and rebuilt the entire front and back landscape, was by filing a complaint with the ROC and having a demand letter sent to them. With that being said I highly recommend that you check their current standing with the Maricopa County ROC as they have one of their licenses revoked. We also experienced issues with the pool, including a significant chip in the pebble tec that required the pool to be drained and repaired, followed by the cost and inconvenience of filling it again within the first year.l, which we had to pay out of pocket for refilling of water and chemicals. There were certainly aspects of the finished project that we liked, which makes the overall experience especially disappointing. With a project of this size and expense, we expected stronger project management, communication, quality control, and follow-through. Even after the construction issues were addressed, we continued to experience difficulty with follow-through. At the time of this review, Innovative is approximately four months delinquent on a written payment agreement related to our project. I recognize that large construction and landscape projects can encounter unexpected challenges. However, the combination of the extended timeline, repeated rework, permitting and drainage issues, property damage, and ongoing follow-through concerns made this a very difficult experience for our family. read more

The deck was redone again, sanded down to the concrete so we can evaluate the structure and know what we are dealing with. The owner called me back arguing with me that HE WAS DRIVING, never got anywhere close, and that he was being a "safe driver" regardless of admitting to speeding over 85 miles per hour in a 65 mph speed limit zone. We recently used Innovative for our backyard project. I primarily worked with Marty who was awesome. He provided great suggestions and was very friendly throughout the entire process. I also worked with Joseph and Nalanie a bit - like Marty they were awesome too. It was great working with their team. Everyone involved went above and beyond our expectations. We are so pleased with how the yard turned out and the level of craftsmanship they provided. Here's something small that made a major impression - we have a double gate and there is a bracket that goes into the ground so the gate won't swing on its own. Understandably this small piece went missing due to all of the trucks and foot traffic. I reached out to Marty to see if anyone knew where it went. At most, it was probably a $5 easy fix that I could have gone to Lowes to replace. Marty insisted that they take care of it so they can provide a perfect experience. I let him know that wasn't necessary as it wasn't a big deal, but they came out the next day anyway. These are the small details that go a long way as a customer. It was an extremely minor detail, and the team at Innovative went out of their way to create a flawless experience. I recently completed a full gut home renovation, and one of the bigger elements of the project was installing a new, in ground pool. When I was initially searching for companies, I met with several - all of whom were 1-1.5 years out as a timeline for the build! My timeline to get this project done could not afford that long of a wait, but a pool was crucial. Finding Innovative Pool Systems was huge for me. Christian and Carlos were the reps that I met with, and who delivered the design. Their timeline was significantly shorter than any of the other companies that I had met with previously, and the designs they delivered were also notably more unique than the previous I had been given from other companies. They just really understood the project, and the kind of design that I was looking for - distinctively unique, and anything but basic - which is a lot of what I had previously been getting. I also had them do the rest of my backyard, which included a paver patio, a large turf area, and a mini golf course installed on the side of the home. The designs for the rest of the backyard were fantastic as well. In the end, the timeline was achieved, and the pool and backyard turned out literally EXACTLY like the designs. The whole area is absolutely stunning! The home is being used as an airbnb, and once the property was listed on the site, airbnb quickly categorized the property in the "Amazing Pools" category - and this is a very difficult category to get airbnb to put a home into, the pool has to be REALLY amazing - so, that definitely says something as well and has been massive for the popularity of the listing. I can't thank David, the owner of the company, enough! David was AWESOME! One thing in particular that stands out from most about David is his customer service. Whenever there was a hiccup, even just a slight one - as there alway is something that will come up, no matter what the project - David was incredibly responsive, professional, and often would even personally go to the property to meet with me and talk about the project in person - which I LOVE! People/companies too often avoid any issues, versus confronting them. I've lost track of the amount of workers and companies I've had to chase down, and followup with 37 times before I even get a response, much less an actual solution. David would reply to me usually within minutes, and he was the one who suggested meeting in person at the property several times to go over everything. You just don't see this kind of customer service anymore, and it makes a massive difference. David made the overall process exponentially easier and less stressful - and, of course, most importantly, he also delivered on his assurances and got the jobs done, and done very well! Miguel was also someone I worked with from Innovative who assisted with scheduling, and sourcing materials - and I am quite particular about about my designs and what materials I want. Miguel was super communicative and helped hunt down a certain paver I was determined to use, even though it was out of stock everywhere in Arizona. I'm grateful that I found Innovative Pool Systems, both for the pool and the whole backyard. Everything looks absolutely amazing, and that has been hugely helpful in regard to a return on my investment because the property has been renting like wildfire, and that is in large part due to the fabulous pool and backyard! We called Ed with Innovative Pool Systems on February 5th. He was excited about the project but then within a week we found out that we think the Son David took it over. We got measurements about 3 weeks later and then we waited, then finally got our first initial consult and cad drawing with Sonja on March 19 and were told that we would get updated drawings and numbers the next week. I have been emailing and asking for updates since that date. Last week I got a hold of Nalanie and was promised the drawing last Friday. I received them at 8:30 p.m. I spent the weekend putting questions together and going over proposal. Just now I received this email. "We have determined at this time we will have to respectfully decline this project. We appreciate you offering us the chance to work with you. Thank you again, for considering us." A review, along with a little education for those who, like my family, did not know what to expect. Family business. Nice people. David was very prompt and always called back or texted very quickly. His dad did, also. Their workers, however, were not as responsive or as responsible. Pool looks great. The owners definitely know what they are doing regarding this type of work. The good: Complete pool redo, plaster removed and new mini pebble done. Removed a very small spa and made a seating area. Pool deck resurfaced. Far as we can tell workmanship is excellent and looks beautiful and we are extremely happy with the final product. They even gave us a free upgrade in pool filter, and removed our diving board at our request. They redid the steps and added a play shelf and chipped in a hole for an umbrella right in the pool for some shade. Nice touch. Owners very quickly responsive when issues arose. The bad: There were several issues along the way (see, the ugly, below). They called it, giving us a new pool deck. It's not a new pool deck. They resurfaced it with a new application of the color we chose. There is not a brand new deck. (I imagined new concrete being poured into a different shape, etc. when they said new pool deck. Why would I know any different? I am not in the biz to know the lingo.) Speaking of the pool deck, I asked the original guy who referred this company to us for cool-on-your-feet decking stuff - but now that it's hot, so is the pool deck. The original guy acted like, of course, that's all we use. Communication of what happens when: I repeatedly asked for a timeline of events. They finally said they couldn't give one to me. I didn't even need an exact calendar date until the day before, but they refused to tell me anything unless I badgered them about what was happening next and approximately when? Example: start day ended up being the first day of school break. I was told they would start that week, but I got no word on which day or a start time, nor did I know that they would only be there part of a day and not come back for another week after that first partial day. They showed up at 7am and we were all sleeping in. Awesome. We thought it would be a continuous process, day after day, until finished. We were not told otherwise, and since we don't pay thousands of $ for a pool redo each year, there is no way for us to know that this is not how it normally goes. It was also hard to actually see (in the samples and pix) the proper color the pool/water would be, so I feel like the color came out not exactly what we had wanted. They didn't tell us what equipment to buy for maintenance, or tell us how to maintain the pool. Not sure if any company does that, but for all that $, you'd think it would be thrown in as a customer-service thing. The ugly: There ended up being a leak because the workers hadn't properly fixed/sealed off? Removed? the old piping when they put new pipes in. Ended up with a lake right next to the foundation of the house. They took care of it quickly after discovery. Their workers opened the gate after I told them to keep it closed and our dogs got out. I only knew after maybe 30min when I went out to look and said, where are the dogs? And no one knew...at the same moment a neighbor several streets away was calling to tell us he had caught one of the dogs but the other was afraid and ran from him. I told the workers, you let my dogs out? Go find them! And they looked at me like I was crazy and went back to work! I had to call Ed, the owner, and he got on them to go get my dog. I went and got the one who had been caught and also was looking for the other one but they found her first. Ayayay. They are outside dogs. They can't handle being inside all day, not used to it - lest you tell me to get a grip and put them in. I could for a few hours if the workers needed the gate open (and I had on other days when they let me know gate needed to be open a bit), but they did not indicate a need to have the gate open. All in all, finished product is great, but there were some snags along the way, which is why the downgrade from 5 stars. I don't know that other companies wouldn't have other snags. Don't roll the dice with this company. If you're interested in Project Managing your own pool project, go ahead. Communication between the owner and the workers was non existent. I would come home to find, for example, the pool equipment installed in the wrong place and then would have to refer to the drawing, which the workers did not even have in their possession. The water feature- wrong height; the pool ledge, wrong height, the wrong # of steps. All of these factors required I beg for correction. The drain was not installed next to my home, as Designed and paid for. I ended up having to work with another company to improvise a solution. Who knows if it's working . I could go on & on. And with all of those issues they pretend not to know who I am? Sounds like they might be common occurrences. David remembers and so does his wife, who was the most disrespectful and unprofessional when I tried to get everything corrected. One more item might jog their memory. They delivered the wrong rock color. They insisted it was correct. I gathered a couple pounds in a bag and took it to the provider and they said they did not carry that color. It may have been a "mixture". I'm actually thinking ROC should be made aware at this point. It's offensive that they can't recall anything about such a disastrous project. I requested a quote from Innovative Pools on Yelp. They responded a few days later and we set up an appointment for Monday, Nov 15 from 10AM to 12PM. This appointment was confirmed by a Marty M on Nov 9th. So far so good, right? Nope. My husband took time off and I cleared my schedule for this appointment only to have no one show up. No one called to let us know if there was a delay, emergency, etc. No one. This was a complete waste of our time. So very unprofessional. So very uncool. I chose this company among several bids because this company did a great job on a pool resurface (on another property) for me in 2015 and I was completely happy with the quality and professionalism at that project. What happened to quality and customer service these days? I'd never refer this company to anyone. We used them for damage to our pool deck that needed to be replaced and resurfaced. A job that the father/owner of the company called, "too small of a project and my son never should have taken it on." knowing what we went through demonstrates that their hearts weren't into our project from the get go and we felt we weren't going to get the quality service costumers deserve. From the very start of this project we had nothing but poor communication and frustration from them. The start date was determined the night before they came and we only found out they were coming because we emailed them asking since they never contacted us. Another issue was they said the crew would show up one day and never showed up. Never bothered to call to let us know they weren't coming and even stated that they don't have control over their own crew to when they come and go. Also the son, David stated after several attempts to contact him, he was extremely disappointed in his crew. He agreed that the work that was done with the broken tile was unacceptable and agreed that he and his crew had miscommunication on what would be done to fix it. David told us he didn't realize that the crew never showed up until we contacted him. What does that say about a company? What owners don't have tabs on their own crew? Another issue we had was the sloppiness of the crew. We watched them clean their equipment covered in cement in our backyard over the rock area, pavers and patio. We all know that cement hardens and the white residue doesn't come off. The rocks were destroyed and now needing to be replaced as well as a few other things. They left small pebbles all over our artificial grass which wasn't the easiest to pick up as well as a few other things. There was multiple discussions of keeping the back gates locked due to having two dogs ,but yet every time they came they left them open. With the being said we had to adjust schedules /take days off of work to monitor the dogs. After a month plus of the project being almost finished the lace finish to the paint was missing in areas and the decking was chipping easily. They did come back to touch up a few areas and then just left the paint can for us to do. But the tiles that were broken/chipped were to be fixed per our contract and were only filled in with grout, not fixed. We agreed to a deduction off our total amount bill instead of getting them fixed because in the end weren't comfortable with neither the crew nor the owners. There was such a lack of respect for customers concerns and requests, as well as agreeing to hear out what we had to say. As an owner you may not agree with what a client has to say, but you should allow them to share their complaints without arguments and disruptions. I had my pool done 2 1/2 years ago. I just reached out to David and company to give me an estimate on a new pool handle rail. His associate Eddie and another worker came over. Eddie told me a new one would cost $600!! I said no, way too expensive. Then his co-worker said to Eddie "we have a used one in the truck for $300! Again, I said too much, I will think about it. Then I showed him the concrete that is cracking near the pool and said can you please come back and fill in. I assumed it was still under warranty. In the meantime, I looked up on Amazon what the pool handle rail would cost, $150 was the highest and it went down from there. I contacted David, since I never heard anything back from Eddie. This was his reply: "Then you should order from Amazon and have someone install it. By the way your warranty has expired on your kool deck." That is his customer service response. I am appalled, number one that I did business with them and they would treat a former client like this and try to cheat me on something as silly as a handle! We couldn't be happier with our decision to hire innovative pools to remodel our 17 year old pebble tech pool. I was referred to Innovative by another pool company that was too busy to take on the job and preferred not to travel to central Phoenix. I will start by saying that to this day, I never met in person Eddie or David from Innovative. I did the entire remodel long distance from Chicago via text, email, and photos. Eddie is knowledge and instantly accessible via text from beginning to end. We were able to finish our entire remodel within less than two weeks without even being there. This is highly unusual. The quality of their work is top notch. I got multiple quotes before selecting David and his team and I can honestly say that he was the only one I didn't feel was trying to take advantage of me during the process.
