For a family-run business, their prices on quotes are extremely fair. David and Edward met with me and went through various solutions of my pool problem. My pool was built in the '80s and was not up to code, it split around the perimeter halfway down the water level and I lost over 10,000 gallons of water. It used to be a 22,000 gallon pool and by talking with David and Edward, we agreed on a better repair solution, also to half the amount of water that we would need after it was finished. At this time of year in Arizona, the temperatures exceed 100° f. Their crew was friendly and respectful of property, they had to work in this horrible heat, but they had no complaints. The crew even stayed past their normal finish time so that they wouldn't have to come in the next day and disrupt me and my dogs. Throughout the entire process, Andrew kept me up to date and gave me a few more ideas on pool design. This family-run business also collaborates with other companies to ensure the process is done correctly and up to code. My wife and I couldn't be happier with the end result, now bear in mind this was a pool repair company and a pool design company, they could have finished the entire pool, but I already had a different company on standby and they completely understood. There was no pressure to finish the entire pool with their company, which to me means that they are a very honest family-run business. Since my last review, David has reached out to me and done what was necessary to make things right. The deck was redone again, sanded down to the concrete so we can evaluate the structure and know what we are dealing with. We opted for the lace style kool deck, to help hide any imperfections that may arise. We had a crack show up around the joints which he sent his guy Alex out to fix right away. The owner called me back arguing with me that HE WAS DRIVING, never got anywhere close, and that he was being a "safe driver" regardless of admitting to speeding over 85 miles per hour in a 65 mph speed limit zone. This driver has been reported to the Phoenix, Goodyear, and Buckeye police for reckless driving. We had a bad storm causing our back yard to flood, a concern we had expressed to Innovative from the beginning. Our pool overflowed almost into our house. We called Ed with Innovative Pool Systems on February 5th. He was excited about the project but then within a week we found out that we think the Son David took it over. We got measurements about 3 weeks later and then we waited, then finally got our first initial consult and cad drawing with Sonja on March 19 and were told that we would get updated drawings and numbers the next week. I have been emailing and asking for updates since that date. Last week I got a hold of Nalanie and was promised the drawing last Friday. I received them at 8:30 p.m. I spent the weekend putting questions together and going over proposal. Just now I received this email. "We have determined at this time we will have to respectfully decline this project. We appreciate you offering us the chance to work with you. Thank you again, for considering us." So here I have been patiently waiting for drawings and proposals and they pull this. Consider them at your own Risk. This was very unprofessional and not respectful. BE CAREFUL read more

A review, along with a little education for those who, like my family, did not know what to expect. Family business. Nice people. David was very prompt and always called back or texted very quickly. His dad did, also. Their workers, however, were not as responsive or as responsible. Pool looks great. The owners definitely know what they are doing regarding this type of work. The good: Complete pool redo, plaster removed and new mini pebble done. Removed a very small spa and made a seating area. Pool deck resurfaced. Far as we can tell workmanship is excellent and looks beautiful and we are extremely happy with the final product. They even gave us a free upgrade in pool filter, and removed our diving board at our request. They redid the steps and added a play shelf and chipped in a hole for an umbrella right in the pool for some shade. Nice touch. Owners very quickly responsive when issues arose. The bad: There were several issues along the way (see, the ugly, below). They called it, giving us a new pool deck. It's not a new pool deck. They resurfaced it with a new application of the color we chose. There is not a brand new deck. (I imagined new concrete being poured into a different shape, etc. when they said new pool deck. Why would I know any different? I am not in the biz to know the lingo.) Speaking of the pool deck, I asked the original guy who referred this company to us for cool-on-your-feet decking stuff - but now that it's hot, so is the pool deck. The original guy acted like, of course, that's all we use. Communication of what happens when: I repeatedly asked for a timeline of events. They finally said they couldn't give one to me. I didn't even need an exact calendar date until the day before, but they refused to tell me anything unless I badgered them about what was happening next and approximately when? Example: start day ended up being the first day of school break. I was told they would start that week, but I got no word on which day or a start time, nor did I know that they would only be there part of a day and not come back for another week after that first partial day. They showed up at 7am and we were all sleeping in. Awesome. We thought it would be a continuous process, day after day, until finished. We were not told otherwise, and since we don't pay thousands of $ for a pool redo each year, there is no way for us to know that this is not how it normally goes. It was also hard to actually see (in the samples and pix) the proper color the pool/water would be, so I feel like the color came out not exactly what we had wanted. They didn't tell us what equipment to buy for maintenance, or tell us how to maintain the pool. Not sure if any company does that, but for all that $, you'd think it would be thrown in as a customer-service thing. The ugly: There ended up being a leak because the workers hadn't properly fixed/sealed off? Removed? the old piping when they put new pipes in. Ended up with a lake right next to the foundation of the house. They took care of it quickly after discovery. Their workers opened the gate after I told them to keep it closed and our dogs got out. I only knew after maybe 30min when I went out to look and said, where are the dogs? And no one knew...at the same moment a neighbor several streets away was calling to tell us he had caught one of the dogs but the other was afraid and ran from him. I told the workers, you let my dogs out? Go find them! And they looked at me like I was crazy and went back to work! I had to call Ed, the owner, and he got on them to go get my dog. I went and got the one who had been caught and also was looking for the other one but they found her first. Ayayay. They are outside dogs. They can't handle being inside all day, not used to it - lest you tell me to get a grip and put them in. I could for a few hours if the workers needed the gate open (and I had on other days when they let me know gate needed to be open a bit), but they did not indicate a need to have the gate open. All in all, finished product is great, but there were some snags along the way, which is why the downgrade from 5 stars. I don't know that other companies wouldn't have other snags. It's always something with a major renovation, isn't it? read more

Don't roll the dice with this company. If you're interested in Project Managing your own pool project, go ahead. Communication between the owner and the workers was non existent. I would come home to find, for example, the pool equipment installed in the wrong place and then would have to refer to the drawing, which the workers did not even have in their possession. The water feature- wrong height; the pool ledge, wrong height, the wrong # of steps. All of these factors required I beg for correction. The drain was not installed next to my home, as Designed and paid for. I ended up having to work with another company to improvise a solution. Who knows if it's working . I could go on & on. And with all of those issues they pretend not to know who I am? Sounds like they might be common occurrences. David remembers and so does his wife, who was the most disrespectful and unprofessional when I tried to get everything corrected. One more item might jog their memory. They delivered the wrong rock color. They insisted it was correct. I gathered a couple pounds in a bag and took it to the provider and they said they did not carry that color. It may have been a "mixture". I'm actually thinking ROC should be made aware at this point. It's offensive that they can't recall anything about such a disastrous project. What happened to quality and customer service these days? I'd never refer this company to anyone. We used them for damage to our pool deck that needed to be replaced and resurfaced. A job that the father/owner of the company called, "too small of a project and my son never should have taken it on." knowing what we went through demonstrates that their hearts weren't into our project from the get go and we felt we weren't going to get the quality service costumers deserve. From the very start of this project we had nothing but poor communication and frustration from them. The start date was determined the night before they came and we only found out they were coming because we emailed them asking since they never contacted us. Another issue was they said the crew would show up one day and never showed up. Never bothered to call to let us know they weren't coming and even stated that they don't have control over their own crew to when they come and go. Also the son, David stated after several attempts to contact him, he was extremely disappointed in his crew. He agreed that the work that was done with the broken tile was unacceptable and agreed that he and his crew had miscommunication on what would be done to fix it. David told us he didn't realize that the crew never showed up until we contacted him. What does that say about a company? What owners don't have tabs on their own crew? Another issue we had was the sloppiness of the crew. We watched them clean their equipment covered in cement in our backyard over the rock area, pavers and patio. We all know that cement hardens and the white residue doesn't come off. The rocks were destroyed and now needing to be replaced as well as a few other things. They left small pebbles all over our artificial grass which wasn't the easiest to pick up as well as a few other things. There was multiple discussions of keeping the back gates locked due to having two dogs ,but yet every time they came they left them open. With the being said we had to adjust schedules /take days off of work to monitor the dogs. After a month plus of the project being almost finished the lace finish to the paint was missing in areas and the decking was chipping easily. They did come back to touch up a few areas and then just left the paint can for us to do. But the tiles that were broken/chipped were to be fixed per our contract and were only filled in with grout, not fixed. We agreed to a deduction off our total amount bill instead of getting them fixed because in the end weren't comfortable with neither the crew nor the owners. There was such a lack of respect for customers concerns and requests, as well as agreeing to hear out what we had to say. As an owner you may not agree with what a client has to say, but you should allow them to share their complaints without arguments and disruptions. I had my pool done 2 1/2 years ago. I just reached out to David and company to give me an estimate on a new pool handle rail. His associate Eddie and another worker came over. Eddie told me a new one would cost $600!! I said no, way too expensive. Then his co-worker said to Eddie "we have a used one in the truck for $300! Again, I said too much, I will think about it. Then I showed him the concrete that is cracking near the pool and said can you please come back and fill in. I assumed it was still under warranty. In the meantime, I looked up on Amazon what the pool handle rail would cost, $150 was the highest and it went down from there. I contacted David, since I never heard anything back from Eddie. This was his reply: "Then you should order from Amazon and have someone install it. By the way your warranty has expired on your kool deck." That is his customer service response. I am appalled, number one that I did business with them and they would treat a former client like this and try to cheat me on something as silly as a handle! I will never do business with them again and I definitely will tell anybody out there forget about them! read more

We couldn't be happier with our decision to hire innovative pools to remodel our 17 year old pebble tech pool. I was referred to Innovative by another pool company that was too busy to take on the job and preferred not to travel to central Phoenix. I will start by saying that to this day, I never met in person Eddie or David from Innovative. I did the entire remodel long distance from Chicago via text, email, and photos. Eddie is knowledge and instantly accessible via text from beginning to end. We were able to finish our entire remodel within less than two weeks without even being there. This is highly unusual. The workmanship was top of the line and our new pool looks magnificent. Innovative exceeded our expectations in every way. I was able to see our new pool for the first time this past Saturday. Not only were we remodeling the pool but we also wanted to add all new decking (travertine pavers) and an outdoor barbecue.
