I am not sure how this company has managed to have several positive reviews. I was duped by those reviews and hope this review saves others from wasting their money.
We hired this company to paint the interior of our town house.
I am not sure if the crew was woefully untrained or inexperienced, or just had a difficult time because our walls are plaster (which the company, of course, knew in advance), but the paint job is not good. There are several spots where the paint looks totally unprofessional. I could have hired my 24 year old brother and his friends in exchange for pizza and beer and gotten the same results. Obviously we hired what was supposed to be a professional company because we wanted professional results, but honestly, there are several parts of the paint job that look messy. Pictures are below.
To their credit, the crew did call me at work when they were nearly finished so that I could come home to take a look at the job. At that time, I saw a few places that needed to be touched up and pointed them out. Unfortunately I did not notice all the poor areas until later. It's hard to inspect an entire house in just a few minutes.
That evening after the crew was finished, my husband came home from work and asked, "What happened to the floor???" When moving our furniture in the living room, the crew scratched our original (1940), refinished hardwood floors. Scratched them a LOT. The scratches are located directly in front of a piece of very large, heavy furniture. I was home when the crew moved all the furniture away from the walls, and I specifically advised Wilmer, one crew member, NOT to move that piece of furniture by himself. He did not take my advice and literally dragged a very large, heavy piece of furniture into the middle of the room by himself. Most of our furniture has pads underneath the legs to avoid situations like this, but due to the size of this piece, it does not have pads.
After noticing the floor scratches, we noticed several other places where the paint was unprofessional. It is just messy, and certain parts of the wall were patched and then painted without sanding down.
The last straw came the following morning. I went to get into the shower and noticed that the inside of our tub is scratched up pretty badly. There are several nicks and cuts all over! It was not like that before. It seems as though they placed a metal ladder inside the tub to paint and did not cover the tub, and/or dropped tools in the tub. We ill have to have it re-glazed. Even worse, the crew dropped some white substance all over the front walkway.
Given the number of issues, I contacted Alex, the Co-President, and he came out to take a look. He was very kind and told me that the crew would return to fix the issues. I felt better after meeting with him. Unfortunately, the crew returned a few days later and was completely unhelpful and bitter about the fact that they had to come back. They were instructed to repaint one wall in the bathroom, where there was a gash in the wall that was not there before and the paint looked unprofessional. They did repaint that wall....very sloppily and quickly. They also did not take care to cover anything this time and my towel rack now has paint on it. The wall looks only marginally better.
It became clear that the crew was putting in very little effort and the paint situation was not going to improve. I asked them about the scratches on the tub and hardwood floors and they had no idea what I was talking about. Clearly Alex had not communicated with the crew about these issues. I was extremely frustrated because Alex assured me that all the issues would be taken care of. One of the crew members, Wilmer, told me that he "had something in the truck" that he could put on my floors to see if it helped. NO WAY. He did not seem knowledgeable about the floors and I was not going to let him just slap some random solution on my hardwood floors, previously in good condition. While he did offer to help in some way, he also denied the fact that he made the scratches and was not prepared to fix them properly.
Alex never contacted me after the crew came out to "fix" the issues. I am disappointed about that. I contacted him to let him know that most of the issues were unresolved. He had no real response. He just said that his crew denied doing the damage, but the customer is always right. He offered no solution except to give me $100 off the bill. $100!!!!! That is a JOKE. With all the damage the crew did, and the fact that the paint job is not good..........I was speechless. I asked him to really think about what would be fair and send me an updated invoice.
I received an invoice......with a $150 discount. Honestly I would have preferred that the repairs have been made correctly and the paint job look good rather than receive a discount, but Alex really made no effort.
