This may be one of the few reviews for IHES written by someone who didn't end up purchasing a whole house fan--and that's exactly why we wanted to write it. Our family genuinely wanted to move forward with IHES because every interaction we had with their team inspired confidence. From their representatives at the San Diego County Fair, to the estimator and installers who visited our home, to Scott, who patiently followed up by phone and email with detailed answers to every question we had, everyone was professional, knowledgeable, courteous, and never made us feel rushed or pressured. Unfortunately, after evaluating our home's layout, we discovered that our attic configuration simply wasn't compatible with an ideal whole house fan installation. Due to the attic pitch, roof framing, the location of our HVAC furnace, and the placement of the A/C return duct, the only feasible location for the fan's intake grille would have been inside one of our three bedrooms. While technically possible, that solution would have sacrificed the privacy and functionality of the room. If our home's design had allowed the intake to be installed in the hallway--or if we had a loft, office, or another suitable common area--this review would instead be about how much we love our new whole house fan. What impressed us most was IHES's honesty and professionalism. They didn't try to convince us to accept a less-than-ideal installation just to make a sale. Instead, they clearly explained our options, answered every question thoroughly, and allowed us to make an informed decision without ever resorting to high-pressure tactics or "today only" sales promotions. Sometimes the true measure of a company isn't how they treat customers who buy from them--it's how they treat customers who don't. In our experience, IHES demonstrated integrity, expertise, patience, and outstanding communication from beginning to end. I hired Innovative Home Energy Solutions to re-insulate my attic. When I asked for a quote, Scott and his team came out and took careful measurements in the attic. They also inspected all of the light fixtures and electrical junction boxes to make sure that everything was safe to be covered in insulation. Scott noticed a couple of junction boxes that needed to be secured, and he included those in the quote. I have a whole-house fan, and I wasn't sure how that would work with more insulation. IHES installs whole-house fans, and Scott was familiar with my particular model, so he knew how to work around it. On the day of the job, Scott and Casen texted when they were on their way, and they arrived on time. They protected my floor with cloth tarps and kept the insulation blower outside to reduce the noise. I was able to do my job from home while they worked. When they were done, they did an excellent cleanup job. Scott even vacuumed the ground outside the house to get the little bits of insulation that slipped out through the vents! The cost on the invoice was as quoted - no surprises. The receipt was sent by email a few minutes after I paid. After one day with the re-insulated attic, I can already feel the difference, and I see it on my thermostat. Without using the heater or A/C, the house temperature is stabilized in a comfortable range of 65 to 73 degrees, despite the outdoor temperatures swinging between about 48 and 78 degrees. Use caution when buying the RF transmitter models. Our remote in master bedroom apparently is randomly losing its pairing with the attic unit. We have only had the attic unit for a month and it's happened twice. You would think after the first time they would replace the unit but instead they came out and repaired it. Now it's happened again... unbelievable. Also, I would have to agree with Christian A., they are not very quiet. We turn the main house fan on after watching TV and in bed on low setting. The high setting is crazy loud. Other than dealing with the manufacture in Temecula, the installer team at IHES are professional and pleasantly nice. I have since been contacted by Scott and Kevin, supervisor at Quiet Cool manufacturing. They have assured me the unit will be fixed or replaced. False advertising! The "Quiet Cool" whole house fan is anything but quiet. First of all our sales rep that came to the house said that we could postpone or cancel at anytime. That is only if your sales rep answers the phone. So the installers showed up on the appointment day ready to install the fan. After installation the fan was so loud that if standing in the hall where it was installed, you could hardly hear yourself think! That being said the sales rep informed us that our attic space would be perfect for the installation and when the fan was on high it should be putting out 47 dB, the fan is putting out double that amount. When calling customer service about this problem, they take strong defense and are quick to blame the customer (aka customers house). I did manage to get them to send the installers back out to move the location of the fan to point it in the other direction to reduce the noise, in doing so not only is the fan louder but now our ceiling in our bedrooms vibrate. After dealing with the customer service and installers, it is clear to us that this is a scam company based on a 3 part cop-out if something goes wrong. 1. Finish the attic (drywall) 2. More insulation 3. More Venting They can use these 3 items in conjunction with each other until you have spent thousands of dollars and then if it still doesn't work the way it should, then, they may offer you a refund! (But probably not) With all this being said, i would not recommend this fan to anyone based upon the customer service and the false advertisement! They patiently answered my questions and didn't try to sell - rather, they explained and let me make my own decision. Our friends had IHES install two house fans and they were very pleased so when we saw their booth at the county fair we invited them to give us a quote. Brady came out and explained what he thought we needed. It was the same as our friends which we expected. He was professional and on time. The crew came out to do the install a few days later. Ricky and Justin were great. On time, were very clean and had to do some sheetrock repair because they took out our very loud and not efficient older house fan. You can't tell where they patched it. Awesome job. They installed a big fan in our house and a smaller fan in our garage. The fan in the garage was where their customer service really showed. The levers on the garage fan weren't closing properly so the guys took the cover back to their shop. A few days later a different crew including Scott the owner came out with a new cover and it had the same problem as the old one. This was not their fault in anyway way but they ended up having the pull the fan out and said they were going to come back with a new fan and start over. They also recommended that we install a couple roof vents since our traditional ones would not provide the best ventilation. They recommended a roofer, Luis' Roofing and he came out this past weekend and installed 4 new roof vents. He was awesome too. We were concerned about how they would look and you can't even see them from our front or back yard. They were clean, professional and very nice. Today Scott and Pierce are here installing the new fan. They also blew insulation into our attic space over the garage to help maximize the efficiency of the fan. And before you think they were just trying to sell us something, they did not. Scott, the Manager, showed up on time and was friendly, efficient and effective. He fully explained his findings, recommendations and solutions. He ended up fixing one stuck fan that was causing all three not to start. As I had thought the switch was causing the issue, I researched replacements and found only one replacement unit on-line, but the site had it listed as no longer available. It did however quote the price at $49. Scott told me that my original Timer wouldn't last forever as it was mechanically operated with a spring timer. As the timer I had seen on-line was digital, I asked the cost and he quoted only $39. Turns out he carried the exact same unit I had seen on-line, only 10 bucks cheaper! I now have three perfectly working Whole House Fans again and a new digital, and more functional timer. I could not be happier with Scotts work, expertise and results. We have had older style, noisy house fans in both our main home and granny flat for years. Extreme caution recommended when doing business with this company. This dealer ripped us off by installing not one, but two whole house fans without our attic having adequate airflow/venting. We contacted the Owner, Scott, and he wasn't any help and refused to admit there was a problem. We finally figured it out on our own, with the help of a couple of professionals. Scott refused to remove the fans, so we disputed the charge. Scott lied to the credit card company and told them he had advised us that we needed 10-12 vents and that we insisted that he put the fans in anyway. After submitting our documentation, our Costco card sided with us and refunded our money; however, we still have to pay $850 to get the non-working fans removed and the drywall patched/painted. We had two whole house fans installed in our attic in 2017. We are very pleased with how they cool our home. For the past five years they have virtually eliminate the need to run our more costly air conditioners. We've had two issues with one of the fans, but IHES was quick to respond to each issue. The staff who came to our home were professional and completed the repairs in what I would say was record time. During our most recent service call there was some confusion on the costs associated with the repair and service call, but Amy (Customer Service) responded almost immediately to my email, was very professional and apologized for my confusion.
