It's been about 4 years since my last visit here. I needed another root canal done and I asked to be sent here again. Dr Hoshino and his team are fun, quick, and almost painless during the procedure (there's always that pinch with the first shot) but having casual conversation and jokes during the procedure makes for a comfortable setting where I didn't feel anxious about what was going on. They're a great team and I'm glad to have been sent here in the first place read more

Today I had my root canal. If you know my back story , you will know WHY I am traumatized going to the dentist! I remembered back in the 2016 I needed a root canal & this place was recommended to me . I also remembered how gentle they were and I felt NO PAIN! This was the same today, absolutely NO PAIN! Doc Matt Hoshino is the BEST! We laughed through the whole procedure. Started with the glasses they gave me to protect my eyes from the bright light . The glasses didn't quite fit over my lashes ! He said, ohhh I have SPECIAL glasses for you girls with them expensive lashes. He grabbed a rolled gauze and placed it on my nose and put the glasses over! Brilliant ! It worked ! My lashes could move freely now lol ! Even the shots he gave me , I didn't really feel anything . I was out of there in one hour 15 min . I hope I don't ever need another root canal soon! But , if I do I'm definitely coming back here to doc Matt Hoshino. read more

My friend has had to visit this place three times for root canals. Dr. Hoshino has proven to be excellent in chairside manner and an expert in his field. Dealing with someone in pain and discomfort while being able to quickly provide the required dentistry care is a talent Dr. Hoshino holds. He has made us feel welcomed, confident in his dentistry skills and knowledge, and happy with the results. This is an outstanding specialty clinic and I would recommend them to anyone! read more

Innovative Endodontics - Sitting in the waiting room. Friend needs to get root canal done. I am the moral support - Endodontists Near Me - Waipahu, Hawaii

Growing up, dental care was not a priority. Long story short, I had a lot of cavities as a child, which led to a lot of dental treatment. With that being said, I do not love going to the dentist. Fast forward to 2022.... I went to my regular dentist for a routine check up and cleaning and had discovered one of my bicuspid teeth had a large cavity in it. The cavity had progressed rather quickly over time, and went into my nerve within a month. I was devastated but knew I needed a root canal. Last week, I seen Dr. Guevara for my first ever root canal. Not going to lie, I have severe dental anxiety and am not the best patient. LOL. However, my experience here was great. It really felt like getting a normal filling done, and not as invasive as I had expected. Even getting the anesthetic was fast and easy! Thank you to Dr. Guevara and his assistant Brenda for being patient and thorough through the whole appointment. They made the root canal process as easy as possible. I'd definitely recommend them to anyone who needs a root canal. read more

Dr. Guevara was friendly and engaging, explained what he was doing along the way. He took into account my reticence and apprehension, taking care to address concerns. There was no pain, just some initial discomfort, and it was over quickly and efficiently. He then showed me on the computer monitor the completed work!! While I hope to not need another root canal, I would certainly go to him again!! Bonus:. His support staff are funny and engaging as well!! Thanks Rochelle(hope it's spelled right?!). Root canals aren't fun, but Dr. Guevara helps them be tolerable and quick!! read more

I would give zero stars. The so called Dr. Matt Eiyoshi Hoshino has worked on my sister's tooth somewhere back in 2014-2015. A root canal. He basically left a small piece of instrument (needle tip) that is now imbedded in her jaw bone and needs immediate attention. He last told her it was her sinus and her bone that he felt. NO IT'S AN ABSCESS that he created by leaving the small piece and covering it up. He obviously can't read the X-ray correctly. He needs to get his license taken away. Her new Endo she is seeing now will do what she can to save her from dramatic surgery. A bone graph may be needed if things turn ugly. In the mean time Dr. Matt Eiyoshi Hoshino hope you read this because this is serious stuff of someone's health. read more

I was referred to this Endodontist office so it's my first time here. I don't have dental insurance so I was praying that I didn't have to get a root canal. The office staff was nice but Dr.Matt was nicer! He did the exam of my tooth and explained the X-rays to me. Dr Matt said, "no root canal was necessary". I was so happy I wanted to jump up and down!! The reason I have been having pain was because I've been grinding my teeth on the left side and it was affecting my gums causing inflammation. I grind my teeth while I'm sleeping. It's due to stress. Dr Matt told be to stop stressing out and to take Aleve to help with the inflammation. Thanks Dr Matt for being an honest doctor. read more

This is my second visit to this practice, and having worked in health care for 30 plus years, I am appalled at the service I received here. First of all, I wish medical practices would understand the whole concept of making an appointment. You get into this field to help treat people who aren't feeling well, and I get that it's a "business", but let's not lose sight of the whole patient value. I arrived 15 minutes prior to my scheduled appt, notify the front desk that my insurance is changed, and was asked to be seated. I patiently waited with my daughter for 30 minutes, I approached the desk to inquire how much longer and was informed that my insurance changed, that she was not able to get an authorization. I already told her that when I walked in 30 minutes ago and she said she needed to redo the estimate and will get back to me, back to the waiting room I sat. Another 15 minutes went by and I approached the desk again, now for the third time inquiring if we had moved any further in this process. She proceeded to tell me the same information that I had already given her about my insurance, even after I explained it to her. She called her office manager to explain the same thing to me, which I had already explained to her. Then I was asked to wait again to that the doctor to come and talk to me himself, their suggestion and so I patiently waited again. A whole hour went by and the doctor had not come out and very little regard was given toward my time. I informed them that I would be leaving now and that if the doctor still wanted to talk to me, that he could call me. The bottom line is I had an appointment that day, I was aware of it for more than 2 weeks, they could have verified my eligibility prior to my arrival and inform me of the estimate instead of stopping me with a $948 bill and expecting it at the time of service without so much as a payment plan option. Advice, You need to be aware of people's time, and value your patience because just as much as you expect us to look at your practice as a Financial business, our time is valuable as well and the fact that you expect us to sit in the waiting room for one hour pass a scheduled appointment time is unacceptable. It is not "best practice" Behavior and certainly not worth $948 of my time. read more

From the moment I walked into the door until I left this office I have nothing but high praises for this office! The staff here are very friendly and kind. Dr. Hoshino is the most kind and helpful endodontist ever! Very down to earth local boy and he was helpful in laying out the best options for my personal situation. Took the time to explain everything, I didn't feel rushed at all. I highly recommend anyone needing an Endodontist to visit this office to see Dr. Hoshino, you will not regret it. read more

So my tooth had been bothering me for about a week when I called my dentist for an emergency appointment to have it checked out. Before my appointment, my wife told me she felt the same localized dull pain I was feeling and warned me I might need a root canal. Oh no! Not a root canal! Off to my dentist we went, and sure enough, she deemed a root canal was necessary. She spoke highly of Dr. Paul Guevara and referred me to Innovative Endodontics for a consultation. After filling out the required paperwork, I was shown into a pristine work area to check my blood pressure and for X-Rays. Before too long, I was sitting down with Dr. G. as he explained what the X-Ray showed and what our limited options were to address the issue. In the end, a root canal seemed the best option. He took the time to fully explain what is going to be done and why...in between swapping war stories as a fellow Soldier...of course our conversation had to be interrupted as the front desk person presented me with the estimated cost of treatment (had to be done, I suppose, to avoid any sticker shock). I've endured some root canal procedures before so I steeled myself for an onslaught of pain. During the procedure, Dr. G. explained every step, making sure I was fully aware of what was going on. I even learned about how, in a pinch, oil from cloves can ease tooth pain. Before I knew it, the dreaded root canal was complete and the only pain was the Novocaine injection. Whew! Very professional, thorough, and totally mindful of their patient's comfort and wellbeing. I wouldn't wish a root canal on my enemies, let alone my friends...but if you have to get one done, look no further than Innovative Endodontics to "fill" your needs. read more

I got referred to this place to get my first root canal . first I had some gum infection so the doctor prescribed me some meds and come back after 4 days. I came back and everything went smoothly , Doctor Matt made sure I never felt any pain, 30 min procedure, the staffs were super nice, I like how they ask you if you need to go bathroom before and after seeing the doctor, they also offer you blankets if you need one. I was expecting pain after but let me tell you it was 0% pain nothing at all .. they pretty much make you feel welcome and comfortable so i would recommend anyone who needs some dental work done this is a right place .. thank you Doc and all your staffs read more

I was originally scheduled for a consultation that turned into an actual procedure. Dr.Hoshino had a cancellation and was able to take me in on the same day. It was my first time getting a root canal in over 25 years. I was a little nervous but Dr.Hoshino made me very comfortable. His sense of humor is great and I enjoyed him cracking a few jokes during the examination. He was very informative about the situation with my teeth. He made recommendations that would make sense for my health and for long term care. I appreciate any Doctor who gives open options for me to decide on. With Dentist in the past I was never numbed correctly and I recall a few times that I had to get injections multiple times to numb the pain DURING a procedure. For me, that's always been the most dreadful part of going to the Dentist for major work. However, Dr.Hoshino got it correct on the first try. I felt absolutely nothing during the entire root canal. I was AMAZED! He was so gentle & fully focused. He took an X-Ray after the procedure to show me exactly what he did and what the next steps will be when I go back to my Dentist. Even after the numbing went away, I barely felt any pain. If I ever need another root canal done, I will definitely be going back to see Dr.Hoshino! He's great at his Practice and I would HIGHLY recommend him to anyone including my children. THANK YOU DR.HOSHINO!!! read more

A lot of acknowledgement towards Dr Guevara on yelp but this one is for Dr Hoshino. Great great doctor! I have always felt a little uneasy with dentists (still am), especially needing a retreat root canal. My appointment was a while ago, just never came around to leaving a review. My visit here was awesome. I always had a blanket and they always made me feel comfortable. Dr Hoshino has a cool, funny, and gentle personality. I felt bad for my retreat to be a little challenging. It did take a few visits to finish but only because I had a very stubborn old root canal. Nothing went wrong, nothing went bad. Once he got past that obstacle (which he handled so so well), it was smooth sailing from there. If I ever needed a root canal again (hopefully I don't ever again), I will definitely make my appointment with Dr Hoshino! Go make an appointment with him! read more

What a GREAT experience! If you're procrastinating or afraid of getting your root canal treatment done, this is DEFINITELY the place to go to! ABSOLUTELY PAIN-FREE!!! I've had several root canal treatments completed, each one painful. However, this one, performed by Dr. Paul Guevara, has absolutely changed my feelings towards root canal treatments! Dr. Guevara listened to my fears and promised me that I wouldn't feel a thing! He told me that patients should not feel anything when getting root canal treatments. He was exactly right! I didn't feel a thing! Dr. Guevara is professional, proficient, intelligent, simply a great dentist! To be frankly honest, I wish I could have him as my regular dentist! I also have to add that Dr. Guevara performs approximately 100 root canal treatments per month! He's a pro and has got it perfected! They're located in the lower level of the Kunia Shopping Center next to Denny's. I know what you're thinking, all the way out in Kunia?! Trust me, the drive is worth it! I promise you, this is the place to get it done! Stop procrastinating and get it over with! PAIN-FREE!!! OUTSTANDING EXPERIENCE from start to finish!!! THANK YOU, DR. GUEVARA!!! Yay I'm the first. If you ever need a dental procedure done or even dental cleaning, I'd recommend this place. I'm not getting anything done, just waiting for my wife to get done but it sounds like she's having a blast because I can hear her laughing from the front. Either that or they have her on laughing gas. Atmosphere is friendly and cool people work here. It's located close the the free way and there's lots of parking. Just don't know about the weekend crowd because I've seen this mall packed. Overall, I think the wife liked it. That matters most right? read more

I was very happy to be scheduled the next day after calling the office for a root canal. I started having increasing pain Sunday morning, saw my dentist on Monday and Dr. Hoshino on Tuesday. I had an abscess which needed to be cleaned out and was there for about an hour. He explained what was happening, what he found and what he needed to do. His knowledge and expertise helped me to get the much needed care to address my issues and get me back to a pain free, healthy tooth and mouth. I had a second visit 2 weeks later to finish up my root canal and am so happy with the care I received from Dr. Hoshino! He's a very kind and caring endodontist and I would recommend him if you need a root canal. I appreciate Dr. Hoshino and am grateful to have received awesome care and great customer service read more

I had a terrible toothache and recommended by my dentist to this office. I had an X-ray done, and they found the cause, it was a fracture tooth. Dr Paul Guevara had examined and gave me a few options: extract my tooth, or go ahead with root canal. I just wanted the pain go away, and was recommended to another office for extraction. I went to the other office, and was told that after I had my tooth extracted, I could have an implant tooth placed, to replace it. Luckily, it was scheduled another few days.... After great thought, I went back to Dr Paul, to have the root canal done, and saved the tooth. Dr Guevara and staff was kind, and the root canal procedure went smoothly. Dr Guevara answered all my questions, and more. I even looked up root canal on YouTube, so I was prepared. Two days afterwards, my tooth felt normal and pain free. I still had to go back after a week to complete the root canal, but it was worth every penny. read more

Awesomeness!!! Was referred for a root canal for my back tooth and I must say the staff there are great. Dr. Hoshino is such a high spirited, easy going, cheerful guy and a jokester. I was referred to Dr. Guevera for a root canal. To be honest, I love going to the dentist but hearing those words kind of makes me cringe a little. Dr. Guevera and his staff were awesome. They ensured that I will be taken care of and that is exactly what they did. From checking in with the reception to Dr. Guevara and his assistant. He also made me feel comfortable and made sure that I was okay while doing the procedure. A year has passed and even though I was supposed to get my build up and crown done a few weeks after my root canal, I didnt. So today, I finally went to my dentist to get that build up done and she was impressed that my temporary filling lasted that long. All thanks to Dr. Guevera!!! Totally recommend this place for your dental needs! read more

I can't recommend Dr. Guevara and Innovative Endodontics enough! When I was in Oahu for my honeymoon, I unfortunately had a dental emergency. Dr. Guevara was the only endodontist of many that I called that would fit me into his schedule. There is something special about a doctor who will see you on the weekend to help alleviate your pain. The whole team at the office was amazing, including the assistants and a lovely team member at the front desk- Karen. Dr. Guevara was kind, gentle, intelligent, and took the time to discuss all of my treatment options and allowed me to decide on the course of my treatment. He is a highly skilled endodontist and I am very happy with the results of my appointment. read more

My dentist referred me to Dr. Guevara's office for a much needed root canal. I scheduled with them a few months in advance and I ended up missing my appointment due to business and in all honesty, forgetfulness. I tried to re-schedule again but this time, I found out from the front desk lady (different one from the one I talked to before) and she told me that their office didn't participate with my current insurance and that I may have to pay out of pocket and try to get reimbursed myself. That wasn't the best news to hear and so I kind of just gave up. As if to remind me of its existence, the tooth that needed the root canal started acting up. It wasn't so bad at first...manageable. I decided to contact another Dental office to get a quote for my root canal. Unfortunately, the front desk person wasn't as nice as those from Dr. Guevara's office and I ended up getting hung up on after being told to that they cannot give me answers unless I schedule a root canal with them right then and there. Fast forward about two weeks and my molar was just having its way with me. The pain was now radiating throughout the left side of my face, preventing me from having a good night's sleep and from focusing at work. Last Friday, I called Dr. Guevara's office again as after some quick research, his name did show up on my insurance's in-network providers. The wonderful lady who answered (I think her name was Mylie or Maile?). Any who, she was a godsend! After multiple back and forth calls and my insistence that I did see Dr. Guevara's name, she took the time and put in the effort to research my insurance. Turns out, their office does participate in my plan and not only that, I was covered 90%! I didn't even have to think twice! I scheduled my root canal the following morning. The root canal itself wasn't painful or uncomfortable. In fact, I told Dr. Guevara that the pinch from the anesthetic was welcomed compared to the pain I had been feeling! Dr. Guevara and his assistant were awesome and thorough. The whole process was explained to me from beginning to end. It was the best experience I have ever had and that's saying a lot considering the reputation of root canals! read more

I have had the worst experience with dental procedures. I am a big baby when it comes to the dentist. I was referred to Dr. Paul for a root canal and went for an initial consultation. They were so friendly I immediately told his wonderful staff how nervous I was about it and apparently they could tell by my blood pressure. He assured me that he was going to take great care of me and after he was done I wouldn't be so afraid and I would welcome the visits. Dr. Paul listened to my anxiety concerns and history and didn't write them off by saying, "don't worry you'll be fine!" He went over my procedure and what to expect. He even addressed my other dental concerns that had nothing to do with why I was there. He explained the different things that would take the edge off and help me relax. I went with a script that I took the night before and an hour before the procedure. It did the trick!!! I walked into his office so confident and relaxed I forgot about my past issues with root canals. Dr. Paul had me in and out of the chair within 20 minutes. It was so fast and comfortable I was in disbelief! The only downside is that he is an Endodontist and can't be my forever dentist!!! read more

I was referred to this place because my regular doctor couldn't do what needs to be done to a particular tooth. I'm glad they could set up an appointment on the same day. I got here early for my 3:30 appt. plenty of time. There are ample parking on my this place. As soon as I walk in, this receptionist was on the phone, talking to this," mystery caller." I heard. Not once did she even acknowledge me. I stood there for almost like five minutes just waited my for her to get off the phone or at least say," I'll be right with you." NOTHING! this place looks clean on the waiting area. Haven't gone inside yet. It just bugs me to think maybe my hair threw people off.. but you just can't judge a person by the way she/he looks. As I stood there, she finally handed me papers to fill in. Not saying anything to me because she was still on the phone. Oh, I just heard her say her name is Lori because she's on the phone confirming people's appointment. The bottom line is,"AKNOWLEDGE " the person or patient I front of you!!! I filled up the papers and just dropped it on the counter. She then called my name and asked for me ID. Maybe I looked intimidating because she's a very small woman. Nevertheless, never ever make a patient feel any less of a human just because we don't fit the typical looks. Got it? read more

Went in for a consult on a fractured tooth. Dr. Matt Hoshino took the time to give me a detailed explanation about why it would be better to have the tooth pulled (vertical fracture below gum/bone) instead of wasting money to have a root canal that would almost certainly fail. Yesterday was my first experience going to this office with my son, who needed to have two root canals done. The dentist performing my son's procedures is Dr. Hoshino. The first thing is that this office did not provide me with a confirmation phone call for my son's appointment. The appointment was set by my son's primary dentist. The second thing is that I was not told to bring in certain documentation ahead of time, that they asked for when we arrived. The third thing is they did not prepare me or tell me ahead of time what my out of pocket costs would be, nor did they tell me that it needed to be paid on the day of the procedures, so I had assumed they would send me a bill. When I arrived there, the receptionist loudly, from across the room while sitting at her desk, blurts out some information regarding my insurance, rather than asking me to speak with her privately at the counter. Then she continues by tell me that my out of pocket cost is nearly $200, which is due now. I then respond to her by informing her that my son needs these procedures done because he's in pain, yet I was not told that my out of pocket expense would be so high or that it was due on that day. She tells me she will have someone else speak with me, so I returned to my seat and waited. Then once again, she blurts out from across the room that she made a mistake and that my out of pocket expense would be nearly double what she initially told me it would be because he needs to have 2 procedures done. Later, a person from billing comes out, who basically tried to blame my son's primary dentist office for not properly informing me of the co-pay issues, then she proceeds to tell me that if I cannot afford the double co-pay, then I can just have one of the procedures done and the other one can be done later. I asked her, so you mean to tell me, that even though this is YOUR communication error, and my son is in pain and needs both root canals done, the dentist would actually be ok with turning a patient away and only performing one of the procedures??? Also, my insurance company is paying nearly $2,000 for the required work to get done. She responds by telling me that she will have the dentist speak me directly. The dentist comes out to speak with me, and says the same thing...so this pathetic excuse of a dentist chose to only perform one of the required procedures, over $100+ co-pay issue. This office was an utter disappointment, and I was blown away and quite disgusted with their lack of professionalism and compassion for a child in pain and a single parent who lives on a budget and requires to be made aware of costs ahead of time to plan accordingly. Needless to say, another dentist will be completing the necessary work to be done to help my son, and I would never recommend anyone to Dr. Hoshino In Kunia as they provide HORRIBLE customer service. read more
