I returned and they said I didn't have an appointment and I didn't need a filling. Then they stared at me until I walked out of the office. I emailed and they said that, yes, I did need a filling, please come back in a couple of weeks. When I go back, the dentist and assitant are in the middle of a conversation and stop for a few seconds to ask "Got any plans for the weekend?" But they walk out while I'm answering their question. We were not informed at any point that we might be out-of-network despite providing our insurance information multiple times. We chose this dental practice because it appeared in-network with our insurance before my first visit in March 2025. My husband was also an existing patient from the prior dentist and continued care after the ownership change. We only received a bill for our 2025 visits in December, after we had made multiple visits and therefore incurred out-of-pockets costs without our knowledge. The office initially offered to split the costs 50/50 due to the insurance confusion, but later reversed that offer. Instead, they informed us that we actually had an additional outstanding bill (that they waived as their version of a fair compromise). That did not reflect the original resolution discussed. The core issue was the lack of clear communication about the change in insurance status and how this led to unexpected out-of-pockets costs.
