I lived here for six months and it was hell. It was poorly renovated out of an old factory or warehouse from the 19th century. My unit had a 1-inch gap at the top of the ceiling into the adjacent units, so I had light from their unit pouring in, and I could hear everything going on with my neighbors including whispering and disgusting "personal noises" (and I'm sure they could hear me likewise). If your neighbors watch TV or listen to music until 2am, it's going to be like they're in your room watching TV or listening to music while you are trying to sleep. The ceilings are the original 19th century loose-fit planks with gaps between them and carpet and pad just tacked to it, so if your upstairs neighbor lifts up his carpet he can see into your apartment and watch everything you're doing.
To be fair though, each unit is a little different, so these problems may not be in all the units. And, they may have updated things since I was there a decade ago. But check to make sure. read more
