U chose applesauce & I ordered a side of Kielbasa! Personally I would have ordered the Bleenies as a side instead of a meal! The Kielbasa was fantastic it's not locally made but it's less fatty and has a great taste! Of course the wife and I kinda shared our meals and we both found the changes very interesting and tasty! The server was very good pretty knowledgeable of the menu and meeting Kat was fantastic because I got to discuss some of her old world knowledge of foods from the Polish and Slavic regions! The hostess seated us near the fireplace on a very cold day and we enjoyed the warmth. The menu is very vast, from appetizers, soups, salads, sandwiches and full dinners. The variety of pierogi is amazing! I chose the 4+4+4 platter that lets you choose a few of three different kinds of pierogi. I chose the potato and cheese, cabbage and the mushroom and cabbage ones. We were shown a dish going to a table next to us - a special - "Polish lasagna" - that we ordered. The soup of the day was pickle soup - and we each tried a bowl. It was a hearty broth with small pieces of pork, carrots and potatoes flavored with some dill, very tasty. We had enough to take home for the next two days for lunch or dinner. Even though we were advised that they only had one person cooking in the kitchen, our meals were served quickly. It was a very enjoyable experience that brought back memories of our Polish family Sunday gatherings from our youth.

After two local grocery stores with delis' have been gone from this town for several years the only place I thought you could at least get decent deli was Shoprite. Their deli is very well stocked and their products are just fine. But I sometimes long for the days I could just run to the deli and pick up good lunch meats etc and come home where we would make our own sandwiches along with various salads. But walking into Krause's was a delight. Now, I must admit I was reluctant after seeing some of there prices. But I have to admit the value was still there if you looked. I got two jars of various jarred vegetable salads. I thought over priced until I got them home and realized they were stuffed to the top and were two pounds a piece. Personally my opinion is the value was quite worth it. I would rather have a little less of quality than more of something I didn't quite enjoy. Since then I have gone to get some of their specialties homemade soup, perogogies and stuffed cabbage to name a few. Let's not mention the potato pancakes. My mother used to make them with me at her side grating the potatoes and onions with our old grater. We didn't have the equipment then so everything was done by hand. As my knuckles can attest to. It took a long time to grate the potatoes and raw onions with tears running down your face. Then it took my mother a couple of hours frying them over the stove two at a time. It was hot intensive work. But, oh was it worth it. Krause's potato pancakes made me long for the days I spent with my mother.
