After seeing some of her incredible pieces on Insta & Etsy, I reached out to her about our place cards. Michelle shared a few different place card ideas that fit with our wedding vibes & it was hard to pick just one because they were all amazing. We went with clear, plexiglass hexagons that included our guests' names in gold calligraphy. Not only was Michelle extremely communicative, but she also went above & beyond by asking about ink color, sharing sketches with different font options, and recommending we include the last initial for duplicate guest names. As a bride with a million details running through her mind at any given moment, it was great to know Michelle was thinking through all the details of my place cards and I could focus on other things. The place cards turned out perfect and Michelle shipped them with so much love and care all the way from Hawaii (we live in San Diego, CA). Each place card was wrapped in protective, upcycled paper to make sure it arrived safely to our home, and later, the wedding venue. I highly recommend Michelle to any couple who is looking for an organized & creative artist that can make your wedding a truly unique experience. And I'm already dreaming up another opportunity to work with Michelle again!

It was such a bummer for that Yeti was my favorite because it was the right shade of Pink and a limited edition color. However Michelle's art work literally made me forget about color and instead made me realize the beauty in her artwork. Juniper Calligraphy is that one business that is literally RARE to find. Why? Because this business has a heart for their customers and actually CARES. And that's the exact reason on out of all the businesses out there, I chose specifically Juniper Calligraphy. Michelle has made my new Yeti really special to me and i will cherish it for the rest of my life. Thank you you so much.

No two are alike…read more.. That's one thing that I do love about crafting is you can make it all your own and here at Hawaii Potters Guild I learned from an event they were participating in is that there are members who pay to use their facilities which is everything from throwing to the kiln which is amazing and you purchase the clay from them as well so really all you need is your imagination. The also have classes as well which is quite cool though not sure if I have steady hands to make something but knowing that there are places like this is nice and to meet some of the members who had their items on sale is breathtaking as each is very different from chimes, plates, vase and animal cups so cute and you know I couldn't resist getting a few. Thank you for a great place to allow creativity to express and share with everyone. Thank you!

I was motivated to take a pottery class this summer after feeling a bit uninspired from a grueling school year on the mainland. Creating art is an awesome form of stress relief and such a great way to challenge yourself. As a first time student, it can be very challenging to get into a class at HPG. You submit an application and must be picked from a lottery. Look on their website for detailed instructions on how and when to submit your application. Submit your papers at the studio and on-time! There are no exceptions for late applications. I was lucky enough to get into a Monday evening class on the wheel. Classes are 3 hours long and our instructor was great. Every week we went over a new style, technique, or concept. Also, the classes are for all levels of potters. There were people who had never thrown clay before to people who have been doing this for years. Students have access to the guild during the week to come in and work on their projects as well! Clay is purchased from the guild and tools are also available for purchase. Everyone in the studio is extremely helpful and very willing to teach. Over this summer I've learned so much from not only my teacher, but also my peers. The community of artists at the Hawaii Potter's Guild is truly a unique group that cultivates a love and passion for creating. This is definitely not a goodbye HPG, but a see you soon.

So, the week before my wedding I reached out to them on Instagram. They messaged me back the next day & I was able to tell them what I was looking for. (BTW I got married in January, so it was not the summer wedding season.) I was able to order a round acrylic sign & custom Polaroid frame which both turned out beautifully in a short turnover time. Susan even sent me rendering of both pieces with different font combinations. This was super cool and helpful as a customer. They went above and beyond my expectations for contacting them at the very last minute. Again, keep in mind that these vendors are busy year-round so I definitely consider myself lucky to have had their services. I DO NOT recommend doing what I did and contacting them late. I'm just sharing my own personal wedding experience & what happened in my situation. In fact, I hear that they are starting to get booked for the summer weddings!

Picturesque specializes in laser cut outs so name cards, signages, cake toppers, ornaments, etc. You can choose either wood or acrylic and choice of fonts. I reached out to Susan for a super last minute bridal shower gift after perusing through her website. I chose a BRIDE and GROOM geometric place setting and a customized ornament with my friends names and wedding date. I had less than a week before the shower and she delivered - all neatly packaged, ready to go! She showed me the design before she cut them to make sure it was perfect. I loved my friend's gift so much that I had my own wedding cake topper made soon after! It blew my mind how great it looked. Dare I say I look forward to the cakes' decor more than the actual cake?! Shame on me. Ok yes, Picturesque was a tad pricier than Etsy but the turnaround time and speedy responses more than made up for the cost. Susan was meticulous and very easy to work with. Plus, you are supporting local! 10/10 will recommend Picturesque if you're looking to make a party uniquely yours.

I met with their Executive Director, Lisa, and was immediately drawn to their efforts. Where most nonprofits struggle, they were thriving. They are a small but mighty team, proving to be effective, efficient, and so clearly genuine in everything they do for the community. It wasn't long before I learned I was expecting my first child, and I found myself on the receiving end of their mission. My first impression couldn't have been more on point, and they proved to be a pillar of vital support for all things motherhood. Being military, I had to continue growing my family back on the East Coast, where I'm nowhere near a local chapter like this. Starting my motherhood journey in Hawaii with a resource like this, and then moving away from it, has only made me appreciate this organization more. I wish I would've gotten more involved while I was there. I still find myself turning to their resources for reference halfway across the country! I whole-heartedly believe that HMHB is one of the most impactful organizations you can get involved with because the strength of any community rests on the strength of its families. Thank you, HMHB crew, for bringing back the village! For reminding new mothers that we should never do this alone; for ensuring our keiki have the best start to life; and for being a strong, collective voice by advocating for families all the way from Honolulu to Capitol Hill.
