Like many people, I thought I could just walk into a shop and ask, "How much is a sleeve?"--and quickly realized that's not how it works. A sleeve takes time, planning, patience, and commitment. My first point of contact at Electric Street Tattoo in Ft. Lauderdale was Nick, and he was incredible in helping me plan, design, and kick off my sleeve with some major pieces. He was patient, collaborative, and made the process enjoyable. His linework is bold and crisp, and I genuinely appreciated the hours spent with him. From there, Nick introduced me to Lexi, CJ, and Lyandra, who each added meaningful pieces to my arm. Every one of them took the time to not only tattoo, but to connect through great conversations that made me feel like part of the family. To this day, I feel like I could stop by just to say hi--even without booking a session. That's how comfortable and welcomed they made me feel. While working on my sleeve, I came across an Instagram video by Carlos Gonzales at Heart in Hand Tattoo in Arlington, TX (also known for his work at Elm Street Tattoo). His video showcased his incredible ability to tie tattoos together with creative gap fillers, making the whole arm flow beautifully. The moment I saw it, I knew I had to make the trip to Texas to have him finish my sleeve. When I finally sat in Carlos's chair, it felt like we clicked instantly. He freehanded with a Sharpie, which made the planning and flow effortless, and he was both meticulous and insanely efficient. If you can handle the pain, he can accomplish a ton in a single session! He tied everything together with gap fillers and larger webs on my shoulder and elbow, and when we wrapped up, I realized he had put the perfect finishing touch on my sleeve. This journey has been deeply personal. My inner-arm soccer player was my first tattoo below the t-shirt line--visible to the world. For me, it symbolized finally being comfortable in my own skin at 40 years old, making decisions for myself instead of for others. Every artist along the way has contributed to that story, and their work is now permanently part of me. I recently saw a video of an older woman explaining why she got her first tattoo at 80 years old. She said, "When I was a kid, I got stickers for being good. I've been good my whole life--I want more stickers." That resonated with me. Tattoos are my stickers, my reminders that I've lived, grown, and celebrated who I am. My daughter said to email Sparrows and see what happens. I did and they responded same night and said Cody was down to tattoo me. I was super excited. The shop is amazing. The staff is super friendly and very attentive to all that come in. Cody did a fantastic job on my tattoo. I told him what I wanted and he amazed me with his vision and talent. I personally get all my work done by Reid. But everyone that works here does fine work. First piece that I got done by him was the eagle and it came out great. Reid is super easy to work with. He always brings great ideas to the table and has superb solutions for tattoo ideas that haven't been finalized. You can tell he really loves his craft. Pricing is fair, I've never walked out of their thinking I paid too much. All in all if you're looking for a spot to get work done, YOU HAVE FOUND IT!

This is the second tattoo that Joe has done on my arm. His professionalism, patience and attention to detail made this experience worth every penny I spent. He was also very kind to offer me breaks in between the tattooing. While I declined them, I did appreciate that he was willing to take a pause for me. I was getting my boyfriend a tattoo for his birthday which was 08/07 went up there for them to have…read moreno walk ins ok cool . so we make an appointment on 08/09 remind you when I booked I payed $100 for deposit. joslyn told us the tattoo would cost $450 cool . So we get there little late 15 min for her to not have the picture drawn out when she she knew we was coming ok cool. joslyn decided she wanted to change the tattoo to make it more noticeable when she really could've keep it the same ok our fault we should've never agreed to the change ok cool . So she finally done with the picture and it took her till 5:33 to actually start on the tattoo when we got there at 3:15 . So that was already weird Because why it's taking so long for you just to draw out the picture ok so she start at 5:33pm and I know it's that time because I started recording soon as she started tattooing ok cool. Next my boyfriend was in pain no lie cause it was hurting but it wasnt to where he wasn't sitting down, he was letting her do her thing ok not even 30 min in she like yeah you should come to a 2nd session I'm like for what he sitting here taking it no because that don't make sense . So at 6:20 she stop tattooing to put numbing cream on when she wasn't suppose to do that but she did and I told her no because you taking time you suppose to be tattooing like what girl no . So she stop and said it's going to take 30 min to numb like what why you wasting our time just finish so boom she put it on we came back at 6:50 she had left which is weird ok so we waiting on her no she come back at 7:05 we go back inside for the numbing cream really to do nothing to him but it did help just a little so he sitting there taking the tattoo for her to stop again at 7:50 to say you just gone have to come back for session 2 when the shop don't close till 10pm and it's going on 8pm . I'm looking lost like why you just stop like that for her to say ohh I don't think you gone take it . Like what ? He was taking the pain no problem. she just didn't want to tattoo no more but had the audacity to say oh yeah come back session 2 and ima charge by the hour . Like what you stop not him . then gone charge us 350 for a tattoo Thats not even worth that price . Just for a snake on his wrist with 3 letters . She keep changing up her story saying she charge 100-150 per hour right but then back door and say half sleeve are usally 800 how your prices don't match boo then gone say you was trying to do us a favors how ? When your work dont even scream 800 for a sleeve . If I knew she was going to switch up I would've went to somebody I really wanted to go to and payed they price instead of going to her . Her work cool but it ain't fire . BE AWARE WHEN BOOKING WITH JOSLYN . She charged us over price for her not even to be working on the tattoo 2 hours !!!!!! Mad wasn't the word she's not an artist because if she was she wouldve just finished the tattoo instead of being greedy and not even finishing the tattoo but wanted more than half the money. RED FLAGS ARE THERE ! worst experience everrrrrr!!!!
