To start, I already have 7 other piercings in my ears, including cartilage. All of these are a year to over a decade old, so I would say I know how to take care of them from the jump. In March I found Rowan. Piercing by nurses - what could go wrong? I made an appointment online and when I arrived the vibe was already off. Front desk girlies were not super warm and I felt rushed to choose jewelry with minimal help or explanation - but knowing I was paying for quality hypoallergenic materials gave me comfort. I have been to much busier places where they still take their time with each guest. My piercer was much nicer than those at the counter, and gave a thoughtful consult. We marked my ear a couple different times before settling on the best placements. I got 2 piercings on the same side, one was the upper lobe, the other above it, bordering cartilage on the edge. Overall, I felt like the cost and the on screen tip suggestions were not commensurate with the experience but hey, I was paying for expertise. A week later, things were not right with the 2nd one in the cartilage area - my ear was swelling and it felt like the post length they chose for me did not allow for this - ouch. I went back and my piercer was not there, and the one who helped me spent the first few minutes asking me questions in a very accusatory manner. Y'all - I have been getting piercings for decades. Regardless, the tone just exasperated things and the fact that they had to get the longer post was pretty much proof it may have been their error initially. The piercer decided to remove the jewelry and pierce a new spot in the same area with the longer post - this felt like a weird option as it is a thick part of the ear and piercing so close to the other when I was already swollen - I should have just taken the L and gone somewhere else after healing. I want to say that was another $50. It has been sensitive and sometimes icky on and off ever since. I know some areas take longer to fully heal than others but this was done in March. Out of all of the piercings I have ever had (including navel), I was never sitting with a painful infection like I am today, 7 MONTHS later, waiting for my super intense antibiotic prescription to be ready and bonus, RUINING MY FAVORITE HOLIDAY OF THE YEAR because I am in too much pain to go anywhere. 2 stars because my initial piercer was at least nice. 0 stars for everything else. This is a cute place. We had a great experience for our daughter's piercing a couple months ago. The staff is great & very helpful. I like that they have licensed nurses & do needle piercing. My reason for not giving 5 stars is because I think that the Rowan scheduling program is over-scheduling the staff. We're here for our follow-up & there's only one woman working with no support at the register. There have been 3 other clients with appointments since we've been here for a scheduled appointment. It's too much for one person to juggle. I hope Rowan sees this & adds more support for their staff. Taking school holidays into account would likely help in that regard. read more

Piercing services are fine but jewelry is expensive and the quality is poor. I purchased earrings and the clasp broke after a couple of wears and they would not fix them, replace them or even give a discount on a new pair. Disappointing. read more

My wife and I brought our 4 month old daughter to get her ears pierced. We are both nurses so we were drawn to this business because the piercers are nurses as well. We picked out the earrings we wanted for our daughter however, after the first ear was pierced, we realized that the earring size placed was not the size we had picked out. The size was never confirmed before it was done and due to this mistake they had to re-pierce that same ear AGAIN. We were very disappointed that our daughter had to go through unnecessary pain. During the whole process the nurse Christine who pierced her ear was very hesitant to pierce her ears and the longer it took the more irritated my daughter got. The other nurse who was working had to step in to give her tips and do the re-piercing. After this frustrating experience I would not recommend this place. We paid $140 in total. For that amount, we expected better quality service. After this frustrating experience I would not recommend this place. read more

Today, my BFF and I visited Rowan in Preston Hollow for piercings but were told they were fully booked. There were three staff members initially, but one left. After the current appointment, there were no other customers. So there were two of three staff members on break at once. When we asked if we could be pierced, the remaining staff member said that state law requires 15-minute breaks. However, we understand that break requirements apply to 8-hour shifts, while Rowan's Sunday hours are 12 PM - 5 PM. She also mentioned that if customers arrived while she was piercing us, she would have to leave us to greet them. Shortly after we left, two guests walked in but left without being greeted because the staff member was in the back on break. We're just trying to understand Rowan's policies on booking, breaks, and walk-in service. Has anyone else experienced this? Would love some clarification! read more

I was very disappointed in my entire experience. Not only is a simple ear piercing 10x more expensive with all the add ons (including tipping which is almost forced) not disclosed initially, but my piercing was terribly misplaced and when everyone that saw my ears (including a makeup artist) confirmed were not equally pierced, they argued with me! Also, when I stopped in last week to look at the earing I misplaced, they wouldn't let me purchase it without paying for a consultation! Furthermore while there, a lady drove all the way from Fort Eorth for a piercing and they turned her away because she didn't have an appointnent. Also, I am curious if registered nurses are even employed there. Ulta now performs piercing and I hear terrific things about the quality piercing, service, and pricing. I am stuck with lopsided piercings and had to speak up about my experience. read more

I visited many piercing studios in Dallas, and my ultimate favorite is Rowan. The jewelry collection is beautiful, hypoallergenic, and most importantly, affordable. For one 14K gold plated earring set, two titanium diamond flat back studs, and two lobe piercings, my total was less than $400, which is an excellent deal compared to other studios. My piercer was Abigail, and she was outstanding! She provided great recommendations on the jewelry and placements. All the tools were clean and organized in individual sanitized and sterilized bags, which ensured a safe experience. I walked in on a Friday afternoon without an appointment, waited for only five minutes, and was in and out quickly. My piercings are healing well. read more
