Finally, a club around Queen Street that actually plays good music. After the disappointment of…read moreestablishments like Margaritas and Globe (see my other reviews), I've grown quite fond of this little gem on Shortland Street. Code is a fairly large club (by Auckland standards anyway) and has a dancefloor at the back and a big seating area just as you walk down the stairs, so is great if you want to dance but means you're not hovering around the edge if you don't. I love that they play drum 'n' bass. Drinks are pretty reasonably priced and the clientele is usually students or backpackers looking to have a good time so the atmosphere is young and upbeat. The bar can get really busy and it often feels like they just don't put enough staff on for busy nights. I've been in there twice and have found myself waiting for ages to get served a drink. Other than that, I'd recommend it.

Let's see if it recaptures that filthy, dirty, punch-the-bass-so-hard-it'll-drop-the-roof-on-you experience we craved. And to start with, Code most certainly did this. To their credit, they don't play the same top forty tracks as a lot of other clubs around town, and the music is really what I'm here for, but these days it's become less of a place to really enjoy the music, and just another sweaty box with way too many posers. Maybe I'm old and jaded, I don't know, but while it's fun to venture down every now and then, it's not on my must-do list for a Saturday night.

The first time I went to The Hangar is known as one of the best nights of my life. After living in…read moreWest Auckland for most of my life I had never found the idea of clubbing in my hood as appealing or exciting. I had the worst expectations about neighborhood bars but oh boy The Hangar changed my perception. I went there with a couple of my friends on a Friday night to enjoy my friend's last night in New Zealand. When I got there I was surprised that there was a line and wondered what the fuss was all about, but then I heard the music and that is when my night officially began. By the time I got to the front of the line I could not wait to get inside and shake my tail feather! The music was just right and DJ Manchoo was spinning the right tracks. What I love the most about The Hangar is the crowd, the music and the drink specials. Everyone there is out to have a good night, whether they are wearing their heels or rocking their jandals. The outside where they are seats for those that want to still hear the music but have a chat and smoke, the inside is where the dancer floor and bar are located and at the entrance a few tables for those that want to hear the music but also want to sit and chill. The Hangar is a perfect spot for those that cannot be stuffed looking for parking in the city, plus the different events throughout the week make it a place for everyone to enjoy themselves

Food was to die for, service was IMPECCABLE (to the male and female who brought a drawer of toys to my daughter - made my heart melt seeing my daughter so happy!! Thank you!) Price is reasonable, music was perfect, atmosphere quiet but just what we wanted :) We are definitely locked in loyal customers and will be recommending to everyone!

Both were delicious and great for the price. After HH, I stayed for a Margherita pizza and more wine. The pizza was thin crust and tasted fresh. Only thing that was interesting to me was the inability to order the same HH wines after HH. The selection switches out. Service was really great and friendly. It started off rather quiet for HH but began to fill as time went on. Plenty of seating options and trendy decor.

VISIT: end of February 2020…read more This was a pleasant surprise as we ate here probably every day of the 3 that we were in town. I typically shy away from restaurants that are in the hotel because they tend to be pricey. We felt, for Americans, that this was decently priced and that each time we ate here, we got a different meal FOOD WE TRIED: - Chicken and vegetable dumplings - Prawn and chive Gyoza - Arancini - 55 day aged beef brisket sliders - Seafood Risotto - Spaghetti with mussels, snapper and prawns The sliders, gyoza and spaghetti with seafood was VERY good. I wouldn't order the dumplings again, but I always forget that chicken dumplings just aren't the same as pork and/or shrimp. The Arancini was a bit disappointing in flavor, maybe just a touch more salt would have been helpful and same thing with the flavor of the Risotto. The seafood was cooked perfectly, but the sauce on it just wasn't as flavorful as I would have liked, for a risotto. Service was always great with the staff always helpful with recommendations. We were very happy to have access to this restaurant during our stay the Four Points
