Stops serving food at 9pm. On Friday night. Every other place is open and serving food. I guess they don't like money.

    Review Highlights - Father Ted's

Overall, the emphasis in Father Teds is on the 'craic' and as any Irish person will tell you, that's what Ireland is all about

O'Hahan's Irish Pub in the Viaduct by the harbor seemed like a great place to try as a short walk from the hotel. First impressions are important, and if I listened to mine I would have bolted as soon as I walked inside. The place was very loud (lots of rugby and football/soccer) on the televisions and groups of revelers raising a pint or two. But what really almost had me going for the door was the lack of lighting. I don't mean that this place had romantic mood lighting, I mean this place was down right dark. I like clean, and when places are dark my immediate thoughts are that poor lighting hides poor cleaning. I was talked into staying and knowing how hungry we were and casually dressed, another option on this evening was probably not a quick solve. So we took our seats and proceeded to order. Mind you we needed our cellphones to see the menu, and I never felt like such a senior citizen in having to do that in a restaurant before. As I said, comfort / bar food was goal. So we ordered the garlic bread (Irish style) to start and it was ideal when washed down with our beverages. The crispy fried chicken salad was fair, not the freshest of lettuce, but certainly not terrible either. There was plenty of chicken which was served hot and crispy as advertised so it is nice to report that they didn't skimp on the portion size. Also ordered was the traditional fish and chips. The order was huge and was also piping hot right from the fryer. The white fish was fresh and moist and the chips were the right crispiness for us. The food was far better than I thought it would be, but that is not to say it was fabulous as much as to say I was pleasantly surprised. I would give the food alone a 2.5 and the beverages a 3, but the atmosphere a 2. I probably wouldn't go here again other than to cheer on a team and raise a glass to celebrate with some good friends in a casuals & friendly atmosphere.

It's as dark and calming as any Irish pub should be, about the colour of Guinness inside the bar. Or escape into the airy courtyard, enclosed with brushwork fence. This area looks better at night with it's dainty little fairy lights and minus the moving trucks in the background. The relaxed but respectful service is by far the bars best feature. The staff go beyond the standard salutations and engage in friendly conversation with customers, without interrogating them or becoming unprofessional. Platters coming out of the kitchen look enticing and are handled with skill by the waiters. A couple of days later, there wasn't a trace of the St. Patrick's Day carnage and the sunny courtyard only held the sound of an Irish fiddler. Fantastic.

The Claddagh is quite dark inside but this gives it a bit of atmosphere and you can feel your blood pressure lowering when you sip a Guinness in this mellow environment. If it wasn't for a friend who took me there one night I might have never noticed this place as it's down a lane off Broadway in Newmarket. I suppose having it as more of a cult bar is better than something more mainstream like Father Teds. An Irishman judges a pub on the quality of the Guinness and I have to say it's pretty darn good in here. The staff are really nice which makes you feel at home in every sense of the word. I actually often forget this place is here until someone mentions it and then I am happy to return.

Both were delicious and great for the price. After HH, I stayed for a Margherita pizza and more wine. The pizza was thin crust and tasted fresh. Only thing that was interesting to me was the inability to order the same HH wines after HH. The selection switches out. Service was really great and friendly. It started off rather quiet for HH but began to fill as time went on. Plenty of seating options and trendy decor.

VISIT: end of February 2020…read more This was a pleasant surprise as we ate here probably every day of the 3 that we were in town. I typically shy away from restaurants that are in the hotel because they tend to be pricey. We felt, for Americans, that this was decently priced and that each time we ate here, we got a different meal FOOD WE TRIED: - Chicken and vegetable dumplings - Prawn and chive Gyoza - Arancini - 55 day aged beef brisket sliders - Seafood Risotto - Spaghetti with mussels, snapper and prawns The sliders, gyoza and spaghetti with seafood was VERY good. I wouldn't order the dumplings again, but I always forget that chicken dumplings just aren't the same as pork and/or shrimp. The Arancini was a bit disappointing in flavor, maybe just a touch more salt would have been helpful and same thing with the flavor of the Risotto. The seafood was cooked perfectly, but the sauce on it just wasn't as flavorful as I would have liked, for a risotto. Service was always great with the staff always helpful with recommendations. We were very happy to have access to this restaurant during our stay the Four Points
