Another Irish pub right? Nope, The Faltering Fullback does away with the dark wood paneling and…read morebrooding atmosphere of a typical Irish pub- and they are sorely missed. The Faltering Fullback has squeezed itself into an old Kingsland bar space, so still has all the polished concrete and low-ceiling look, with none of the characteristic flavour of an Irish pub (other than sagging flags). Your choice of seating is a small and unappealing deck on the road or a cricket-blaring sports bar interior. They offer some decent English/Irish meals specials but the waitresses composure faltered when we decided to share a plate. (She redeemed herself later by fixing a poorly poured Guinness.) At least Kingslanders get to celebrate St. Paddy's without heading "all the way" into the city.

It's still much the same physically, but with a change of name and ownership comes a new lease of energy. They have various $10 specials for food during the week. On the night we went it was a burger and chips, and it was very tasty and generously portioned - a pretty good deal for the price. Drinks weren't too expensive either. The outdoor seating was obviously the place to be, although as the weather gets colder the inside will probably have a bit more appeal. On a late summer afternoon it seemed a little dark in there, though. Much better to sit out the front and drink a beer while the city life goes by.

Hmm. Well. Not terrible, but not what I was hoping for. I went in thinking Spitting Feathers, but…read morethat venue closed and QF took over. It's not what it was, so that's why I don't give the former business one star. Yelp needs to update this listing to show Permanently Closed. It's a sports bar, not a pub, so ... not a pub. They had Rugby League on, which is OK, but I watch Union. I ordered a Panhead Supercharger (American Pale Ale): it tasted of butterscotch (diacetyl) which should not, not, NOT be the case. I brought it up: "we just changed it". I gave a challenging look: the bartender tried it, said it was OK. Horseshit! I know my stuff and have had several of these while on vacation. It was not right. So poor quality of service. They have a large electronic gaming cave. Yuck. Not a pub. It's not Spitting Feathers anymore. Yelp needs to update the listing so that people know that the old venue is dead and gone.

The drinks are cheap and quality, the decor is understated, and there's a 21 and over cap. Couldn't ask for more. Finding SF is only tricky if you're not paying attention, a single doorway on Wyndham that leads to an upstairs oasis. But once you arrive, you won't want to leave. I haven't been here on a Thursday or Sunday but apparently those are the nights to make and appearance (because the food is well cheap). Staff is also super nice. Spitting Feathers, you're a gem.

Both were delicious and great for the price. After HH, I stayed for a Margherita pizza and more wine. The pizza was thin crust and tasted fresh. Only thing that was interesting to me was the inability to order the same HH wines after HH. The selection switches out. Service was really great and friendly. It started off rather quiet for HH but began to fill as time went on. Plenty of seating options and trendy decor.

VISIT: end of February 2020…read more This was a pleasant surprise as we ate here probably every day of the 3 that we were in town. I typically shy away from restaurants that are in the hotel because they tend to be pricey. We felt, for Americans, that this was decently priced and that each time we ate here, we got a different meal FOOD WE TRIED: - Chicken and vegetable dumplings - Prawn and chive Gyoza - Arancini - 55 day aged beef brisket sliders - Seafood Risotto - Spaghetti with mussels, snapper and prawns The sliders, gyoza and spaghetti with seafood was VERY good. I wouldn't order the dumplings again, but I always forget that chicken dumplings just aren't the same as pork and/or shrimp. The Arancini was a bit disappointing in flavor, maybe just a touch more salt would have been helpful and same thing with the flavor of the Risotto. The seafood was cooked perfectly, but the sauce on it just wasn't as flavorful as I would have liked, for a risotto. Service was always great with the staff always helpful with recommendations. We were very happy to have access to this restaurant during our stay the Four Points

He says it's because it reminds him of the pubs in our hometown in the UK and I don't think he's wrong. I've only met up with him a few times in here but I too think it's a great little place. The staff are always really friendly, there's a great selection of beer (including their home brewed lager) at a reasonable price and there's always been ample seating during after work hours. They've also got a really varied selection of live music and events on every week so there's enough to keep you entertained (the pub quiz in particular is usually a winner). I've not eaten in here but the food on the menu always looks really intriguing. They've got a really wide selection of vegetarian and vegan food and things that are just a little out of the ordinary.

It was early in the day so definitively not ready for a full on session but a cold cider was perfect. The bar is massive with prime corner real estate! Plenty of seating at the bar, tables just behind along with benches running along the windows. If it were my local, I would be there on Sundays just to people watch and pass a few pints. There is also a chef in the kitchen, with a menu broadcast on chalkboard above the bar. Live music and other fun activities await weekly. Another plus to this bar is that there is a genuine Italian espresso machine. The brand escapes me, but it is one of only two in all of New Zealand! He said it makes a mean espresso and for someone who loves coffee this is an invitation to return.

I have been to Mosaik on three occasions and each has been very different, though all were enjoyable. The first time was for lunch midweek. A delicious homemade burger and salad with ice cold juice was exactly what I was after, and sitting in the sun devouring it was perfect. The second time was for a 21st birthday party. Mosaik has an upstairs function room that can be hired, complete with a second bar and room enough for a wee dance floor. It was a great, cosy venue and with no room hire fee, a fantastic place to keep in mind. My most recent Mosaik experience was for a Sunday night birthday dinner. Glasses of wine, bottles of bubbly, Mezze platter, and huge portions of pasta for our mains - we had waaaay to much food but felt we'd definitely got our money's worth. The staff are all incredibly attentive, and even bought our dog a bowl of water to drink upon our arrival. The only downside was the bathroom doesn't get quite as much attention as you'd hope - the bins are often overflowing with paper towels. But aside from this, Mosaik is a great place to dine, catch up with friends and family, people watch and celebrate!

We were on the upstairs level away from the busy restaurant and when I walked into the room the chairs had been set up, the muffins we had requested were covered and the room was perfect. We managed to fit about 15 girls into the venue without a hustle and the area on the far right of the room was perfect for us to shoot a promo video. Although we where upstairs, we were well looked after by wait staff who would ask if we needed any drinks or anything else. The staff were also more than happy to escort some of the girls who got lost upstairs. The muffins were amazingly delicious and the coffee was roasted to perfection! I recommend this location for birthdays and get togethers! Nothing beats excellent customer service.
