NZ beer

Fun little spot. Down the side street in the center but very convenient since the rest room is right across the street. You go in, pick out your beer and pay up at the cashier then go chill. We had a NZ beer and a Brothers beer that was only available in 3 bars worldwide: this location, Chicago, and Belgium. Good place to sip and chill while killing a couple hours.

Had a great night here on Friday at the Zeffer Spring Party. I believe Zeffer did a 'tap takeover' that night, but there was still plenty of beer to sample along with the delicious cider. Massive range of bottled beer from all round the world too. The staff were all friendly and knowledgeable about the huge range of cider and beer - their own and brewed on site. Interesting space, not too small, plus can stand and talk around high tables outside. Didn't have any food but saw others eating something tasty... And it's located handily by the amazing Food Truck Garage anyway. Fantastic place for after work Friday drinks all up.

Friendly, relaxed beer bar with four beers brewed on site, 14 taps from other NZ breweries, and a good selection of bottle beer. We had the brisket pizza. It's good as a snack or light dinner for two, but light if you are hungry.

We visited late on a Saturday afternoon in January based on a word of mouth recommendation from a friend. It looks like the bar still has a bit of work to be done and the layout is kind of confusing with the service area looking like a reception desk or shop counter. And this place is definitely part shop but at the time of our visit perhaps seemed a bit more shop than bar - despite all the people hanging around drinking. Hopefully the long bar to the side will eventually be where you get your drinks from, because once a few mates of the staff pulled their stools up to the counter, it was a bit of a squish getting in there to order drinks. Despite this, the pizza we ordered was delicious (this place is not about the food and the menu is sparse but we were hungry), and the beer selection outstanding as you would expect from an independently owned brew bar. There's a choice of 18 beers on tap and many more in the fridge. This is definitely the highest number of boutique beer brands in one place I've ever seen. You can also stock up and take home your favourites; either cold from the fridge or off the shelf for later. Situated in another of Auckland's new "precincts" (The City Works Depot), Brothers Brewery is destined to be one of Auckland's hot spots in 2013. At the moment it seems a bit lonely and you have to request the key to use the shared bathroom but I don't doubt there are good things in store for Brothers Brewery once the teething problems are addressed.

Brothers Beer is a boy's dream. This place is a metaphorical love child between a well organized lady treehouse and a crafty, macho man cave. The glorified shed is furnished with salvaged couches and recycled wood in expertly trendy fashion. Then it gets nostalgic with Thunderbirds toys and Tintin comics and board games. By now you have already picked out which couch you will be sitting in and it's time to choose a beer. A great range of boutique beers (and plenty of them from New Zealand) are on offer. (Drinking "boutique beers" does not mean you will turn into a shirt-tucking, snobbish connoisseur, who turns his nose up to anything cheaper than $20 a glass). Throw more than a dozen of these on tap, some expert product knowledge from the staff, some alternative beats and a comfy seat and you have a pretty happy 21st century boy. You need not dress up in anything more than jandals and a T-shirt (with the proviso that you are covering your lower half in some manner). Impress your tastebuds (and any friends still quaffing pints of DB) by trying something new at Brothers Beer.

We came here the other night for a big group catch up. It was a bit hard to find, but after walking around the neighbourhood and trying to figure out exactly where Google maps was trying to point us, we found. It's kind of in a random area of warehouses, and this bar seems to be in a garage sort of a set up, but it's done up really nicely inside, as though it is a 1960's bach - there's even vintage games like Game of Life that you can play! They have a million craft beers to choose from. So so many. You can order a sampler tray of a variety of beers to try. Their non-beer options are not very wide, but they have a really fancy selection of gourmet creaming sodas that come with cool straws. We ordered a pizza which was ok - the food choices are minimal, pizza or toasted sandwich, but I don't think you come here for the food - it's all about the beer choices. We were at the outside table and once the bar closed up, we were all left outside - suddenly not a bunch of people drinking at a bar, but now a group of people loitering in an alley! So we left. Great place - totally go check it out!

Brothers Beers was fantastic! We were traveling around New Zealand and wanted to get some comfort food. What is better than pizza and beer?! Well pizza, beer and the atmosphere were on point. They have an amazing selection of draft beers they make in house and an even greater selection of bottled beers. This place and great reviews which is why we chose Brothers Beer and I am so glad we did. We tired a cheese pizza, pepperoni with red peppers and teriyaki chicken pizza. All three were amazing and made to order. For beer I tried their IPA and it was tasty!

What a cool, little place! We were starving after exploring Auckland and decided to stop in at Brothers Beer for a late lunch and libation. Admittedly, beer was our priority, but we were pleasantly surprised by how delicious their thin-crust pizza was! We got the bacon and pineapple variety, and it paired perfectly with the beer flight. They carry more than just their own beers, so we were able to try other NZ breweries on this visit. We took advantage of the pleasant weather and good view of Sky Tower, and sat at one of their outdoor community tables. There is paid parking lot in the area, and although it was a quiet afternoon, I can see how trying to drive in could present an issue. Luckily, it was within walking distance from where we were staying. Really glad we got a chance to check this place out while visiting Auckland.

What can I say, this place is awesome! I type this from the comfort of their outdoor cozy couch :) after a long day of hiking, this was a welcome way to wind down and enjoy the warm NZ evening air. They have a number of great bottled beers available and an extensive collection of their own brews on tap. You just can't go wrong and the ambiance seals the deal! The staff was great about helping us to find a beer to meet our needs, all happy travelers here!

Didn't try any of the food, but it looked good. Great beer, great music, friendly staff, and a cool atmosphere. Will come back if I'm ever in Auckland again.

Outstanding range of beers at reasonable prices. I'm not aware of another place like it in Auckland. An automatic 5 stars from me.

My partner and I both had a pint, shared a beef and cheese pie, a burger, and mac and cheese. They have 3 different pies a day and sold out pretty quickly. The pie was one of the best we had, nice and flakey and very big. The burger and mac and cheese were good as well but I prefer creamier mac and cheese. However the fries were great, crispy on the outside and potatoey on the inside.

I had been to many a few years ago, but somehow Vultures' Lane was missed. I saw their fantastic tap list and said I'd stop in for just a beer and respite from the rain. I ended up trying eight thanks to a super friendly and generous bartender. This is a free house, so not tied to any particular brewery or company. They pour what they want, which includes a lot of excellent choices. What hooked me as they also have their own line of house beers (contract brewed off site due to the size constraints of the cozy pub). They have outdoor seating and a few tables and bar stools inside - it's not a large place more cozy for pairs and small groups. They also have a full food menu if you're hungry. When I explained I was on a mostly beer trip and was interested in a tasting board of their beers, he said he'd just pour them all for me and charge the regular price for many less - you can't refuse that kind of offer (8 for the price of 6). It was fun to try them all, diverse styles. Of course some were better than others, but overall they have excellent house beers if you're in the area. If you're a beer fan and in CBD seeing too many bars, it's worth your time to find this one.

There's not a lot of options to be honest. Anyway it's a nice enough spot on top of the new Westfield. Plenty of tables etc but unfortunately on a Friday lunchtime the kitchen obviously struggled to keep up with the demand. An hour wait for our food when on a lunch break was not good. Drinks were slow to arrive and unfortunately when they did and they were raised to toast "cheers" one glass literally had the bottom fall out. Staff were quick to react and mop up the beer but no apology, no offer to compensate. Two of our group were well covered by beer and trousers soaked. The manager should have done a great better job. Unfortunately our experience was rather tainted so not sure we would be rushing back. Still they probably don't care. It's location etc means they can probably survive without repeat business for now.

I typically shy away from restaurants that are in the hotel because they tend to be pricey. We felt, for Americans, that this was decently priced and that each time we ate here, we got a different meal FOOD WE TRIED: - Chicken and vegetable dumplings - Prawn and chive Gyoza - Arancini - 55 day aged beef brisket sliders - Seafood Risotto - Spaghetti with mussels, snapper and prawns The sliders, gyoza and spaghetti with seafood was VERY good. I wouldn't order the dumplings again, but I always forget that chicken dumplings just aren't the same as pork and/or shrimp. The Arancini was a bit disappointing in flavor, maybe just a touch more salt would have been helpful and same thing with the flavor of the Risotto. The seafood was cooked perfectly, but the sauce on it just wasn't as flavorful as I would have liked, for a risotto. Service was always great with the staff always helpful with recommendations. We were very happy to have access to this restaurant during our stay the Four Points
