I remembered visiting this place and enjoying myself on my first visit to Auckland, but I felt it had changed so much it deserved an updated review. Brew on Quay is right along the water, just off the brick paths to and from the ferry terminals and nearby many other great pubs and restaurants. The historic building used to be a police station and the various built-in wood walls, windows, and huge desk show how it used to be - the jail cells even serve as their office. The bar is toward the back along the right wall. Since my last visit they added a cozy lounge area at the back and a loft upstairs above. There are many great areas to enjoy with friends and it was busy on my visit. I opted to sit at a small table along the side and enjoyed a flight of new beers; their flight glasses are huge so it's worth the money. The food also looked fantastic but I wasn't hungry during this visit. The bartender was also friendly, with a few check ins to see if I needed anything. The back is also off the Britomart, which is another great area of food, shops, and public transportation. The have a few tables outside as well. If you're a fan of beer, they have an amazing tap list - it's worth a visit!

Cottage Pie & a Pint. Great flavor and was their Pie of the Day. Fish & Chips were good, too!

We went here to have a Steak Pie that we saw on a Yelp post but it was an old post and not on their menu. So I had their Cottage Pie and it was excellent. Staff was very nice & friendly and great music was playing with football on the big screens. Something for each of us! I highly recommend them! We thoroughly enjoyed our meal here as a New Zealand experience.

We were looking for a draft beer and rolled up to try this pub. Nice selection of NZ beers and bar food. Bartender was patient and helpful with food and beers. Husband got the daily special of a pie and a special beer for $30, and I chose a cheeseburger and a draft. So, look at the photo, that's a pie! Also my cheeseburger was a double patty with sauce and veggies and lots of chips. So much food! Nice Irish pub feel with a couple of pleasant and efficient girls. Definitely recommend!

This was one of my husband and I's favorite beer stops in Auckland. They had some delightful selections as well as a full bar for those not interested in beer. The inside had a very European pub feel to it, which we enjoyed. The pot pies (which they had a deal for 1 pint and 1 pie) looked amazing- huge and fresh, but unfortunately we didn't have any meals here. Even if you only have time for a quick drink, stop in and enjoy the cozy atmosphere. They even have a table or two outside for a beautiful day. Make sure you read the historical plaque on the building by the side entrance. Pretty neat

Friendly staff. Great location in a historic quay building. Good beer, I liked the Epic pale ale. Fish and chips made with snapper was good but I like my fish and chips with cod or haddock but it is was it is and was done well.

I went here for a few drinks after work one evening and was really impressed with everything about the place. The extensive beer menu was an absolute treat and it was so hard to pick just one to drink. However, I feel like we made the right decision with the Brew's Brew homebrew. A fruity delight that just gave a bit more of a personal touch than you'd find in most other bars around the area. The drinks were fairly expensive, but no more so than I would expect to find in other CBD bars and the staff were really knowledgeable about the beer. The bar itself is really tastefully decorated and has a real upmarket feel about it, as if it wouldn't look out of place around Wall Street selling beer to yuppies in suits after work and the upstairs seating area on the rooftop meant it was the perfect place to enjoy the late afternoon sun. I regret now not eating at Brew. We only had a light bite to eat: Mexican chicken nibbles, which were really tasty and some fries, but I will definitely return for dinner soon as the plates coming out of the kitchen looked amazing.

My study abroad group came here and got several sampler plates. The food was good. Really enjoyed the strawberry lime hard cider. But hands down my fave thing was raspberry coke, this blows cherry coke out of the water. Unfortunately my American self didn't realize soda refills weren't free and my wallet suffered. Overall friendly staff and pretty good food. Loved the ceviche.

The first time I dined at Lucky Buddha, I didn't quite know what to expect, but after learning that the owners are Korean, the head chef is Filipino and that they are serving Asian fusion cuisine (namely Japanese, Korean, Thai and Filipino), I was really excited. I have since dined at Lucky Buddha four times, and each time has been a very memorable foodie experience. The food is fresh and flavourful, and the cocktail list and service is excellent. Below, I list my favourite dishes and drinks at Lucky Buddha. For food, I recommend the following: * Sriracha Pork Steamed Buns filled with tender pulled pork, fresh herbs and a cracker spicy peanut sauce. This is my favourite entree on the menu as it has that melt in your mouth wow factor. The bao comes in a pair, so I recommend sharing it with another dining companion, so you can share a few other entrees! * Wakame Salad with Cured Salmon served with creamy avocado, crispy nori, foam and puffed rice. This dish incorporates two of my favourite foods - salmon and avocado, so I knew it would be a winner. The puffed rice and crispy nori gives the dish great texture. * Soba Noodle Salad with Avocado and Teriyaki Chicken - this is the perfect lunch dish! It is another great combination (soba noodles, avocado and teriyaki chicken), is extremely filing (carb + protein x2) and will keep you going for the rest of the afternoon. My favourite part of this dish is the fried crunchy soba noodles on top! * Bibimbap with Korean mixed rice, seasonal vegetables, soy beef and gochujang. Bibimbap is a classic Korean dish and also one of my favourite meals, so I was super excited to try Lucky Buddha's version. I tried this dish only a few weeks' ago, and it is now my new favourite! I loved the presentation, with the brightly coloured veg, flavoursome beef and semi-raw egg. The fun part of Bibimbap is that you get to mix all the ingredients together! Just one sad note - no kimchi. For drinks, I highly recommend trying one of their cocktails. Their cocktail list changes frequently, some of which are only on the menu according to the season. I have so far enjoyed the Dark Stormy Asian cocktail with Mount Gay XO rum, ginger, herb bitters and citrus (a highlight the first time I dined at Lucky Buddha) and the Heavens Surprise cocktail with Herradura Plata tequila, watermelon, mint and elderflower - I just HAD to order this cocktail as it incorporated my favourite food and my favourite spirit! It was refreshing and delicious. Lucky Buddha also has a small wine and sake list and a range of Asian beers on offer, including a beer of the same name. For a non-alcoholic option, try one of their iced teas or house made sodas. If the above is not enough to tempt you, then another reason why you should dine at Lucky Buddha is because of their excellent service. Each time I have visited, staff are friendly and efficient, water glasses are always topped up and you don't have to wait long for your food. Overall, I LOVE LOVE LOVE Lucky Buddha. Thinking about it now, it definitely makes my top five list in Auckland, for its Asian Fusion menu (featuring Japanese, Thai, Filipino and Korean classics), refreshing cocktails and consistently good service. I highly recommend dining at Lucky Buddha the next time you're out!

Grilled beef steak (19) is my favourite but I've kindly let my friends choose dishes this time. Squid & Couscous ($19) tasted succulent and fresh as always. I love this dish too! Display was a bit awful too. Not a dish I wanted to try again! My friends have a love for eggplants but all we could taste for this Baked Eggplants ($14) was pesto. We also ordered Risotto balls ($8) but nothing was special about it. I didn't really enjoy the creamy cheesy dip. Maybe because I'm not a cheese lover. Their dish seems a bit expensive to be a tapas but I do want to defend them - the amount is huge. And you wouldn't regret ordering it at its price (if you order right things I mean).

I booked a table for two ahead of time and I'm so glad I did! We arrived at 1pm on a beautiful sunny Saturday and the place was absolutely packed! Our table was right by the huge windows that open out onto Nuffield Street. They have ample seating, with a great indoor/outdoor flow and it definitely felt like we were in a European city - such a cool vibe! We ordered a Mojito ($14.50), the Mussels ($18.50) and the Moorish Eggs with Turkish Pide Bread ($17.50). The mojito was very refreshing on the hot summers day and instead of being overly sweet, it was minty and had a good amount of lime in it. My Mum had the mussels and she thoroughly enjoyed them - the flavours were a perfect balance of garlic, chilli and lemon. The Moorish eggs were delicious as well. After seeing many Instagram photos of the Moorish eggs, I just knew I had to order them! At $17.50, one would think it is too steep, but it was actually very filling! The dish consists of 3 eggs and 6 meatballs in a rich tomato sauce, plus Turkish Pide bread on the side. It was very yummy and it would make a great comfort meal in the winter! The service was friendly and we didn't have to wait long for our food. Highly recommend Tasca - it's a great place for all occasions whether it be a function, a birthday, a date night or best of all, a lazy Sunday afternoon!
