Hard, thin churros. So disappointed :(
    Boni W.

Seeing as this place is right across from work , thought I would go grab a snack with a friend. We ordered churros and coffee. For $13.50 the churros was not worth it. They weren't freshly made ( I saw a pot of them sitting in the cabinet ) the sauce was very runny and so you ended up not having any chocolate on it since it kept dripping. I remember having churros at the churro track at uni for $6 and they were fresh and crispy but soft on the inside with right amount of cinnamon sugar coating and thick chocolate sauce. Those were delicious, but these they the opposite and not worth the money.

Went here for a Friday lunch get together with friends. We purchased some grab one deals, one thing I will say is they are very strict on their rules and guidelines and make no allowance to alter them In saying that. The food was very nice and the service is good also. I found the sangria to be average. $35 for a litre of sangria.

Great place to go for any occasion. I've been here a few times for brunch and I love this place. Great service and atmosphere. My favourite here for lunch is the Carbonara. And I always treat myself to their iced coffee and/or Affogato.

Tasca has such a cool vibe, very laid back, slightly more casual dining but no compromise on the food side of things or service. In fact the first time I came here I was totally impressed by the level of service. I was being picky with the menu and the waiter was really kind, they don't really have anything for vegans but I had a salad made for me. He kept an eye on my friend and I the entire time we were there checking to make sure everything was okay. The park I love the best is the couch down the back. In the winter time they light the fireplace for you too. It is a great place to just chill out with a drink and tapas with friends, which Tasca is really good for - groups. They have some pretty large tables and a slightly more private one at the back of the restaurant and you can reserve tables. I find the service to be well above average, it provides for a great environment. One of my top places to go to in Newmarket.

I ordered their tapas lunch plate today which comprises of some bread, hummus and olives plus 2 choices of tapas. Only 1 tapas came and I followed it up but nothing arrived until I finished my meal and told the server the situation. He said he had taken it off the bill. When he showed it to me, it was still the same price and he said it was because I was served something else.... the bread and olives. I told him that was already part of the set and had to get the menu and show it to him so that could see it for himself It was only then when he said they will just charge half the price. Pros : 50% discount Cons : forgotten order ; servers are unfamiliar with the menu; i am still hungry after the meal

Tasca is a Spanish restaurant situated on Nuffield Street in Newmarket. The indoor outdoor flow of Tasca is one of my favourite things about it. With great big windows that open out onto Nuffield Street, you can sit at a table inside yet feel you are very much outdoors while enjoying the sun. There are tables and chairs set up on the actual street too, as well as plenty of indoor seating. Whether there for breakfast, lunch or dinner, Tasca has a menu that will delight, excite and satisfy your cravings! The pancakes and blueberries with whipped cream for breakfast are my favourite. Not too heavy, the pancakes are brilliantly light and sweet and are perfectly complimented by the blueberries .However is savoury is your thing, the omelettes with chorizo sausage are equally as great. Tasca also offer a good selection of both Spanish and New Zealand wines, and more than happy to accommodate private functions. Although located in quite a popular part of town, every time I go to Tasca I feel as though I have discovered somewhere unknown. Tasca has such a friendly, unpretentious, happy go lucky vibe that it's hard to believe it's located in the heart of trendy Newmarket.

Was disappointed when pop in again after many years. Still the same decorations but maybe owner has changed I guess. Ordered meatball was dry , paella was such a disappointment! Dry and no flavour. Will not come back again

We popped in here after work for some tapas. The staff are always really friendly and the place is usually pretty busy. We ordered 4 tapas and fries with two glasses of wine. The bruschetta was good but we were not very impressed with the haloumi cheese on top which didn't really add anything to the dish. The stuffed pepper was definitely the winner with rice and raisins, it tasted very fresh with great flavours. We also had minced chicken in round balls with aioli and a tuna dish with cannilinni beans. The tuna was our least favourite and would not order this again. I can't put my finger on why I didn't like it but the flavours did not do it for me. This is a good restaurant for fresh food and friendly service

Food was nice but the portions are big so just be careful if you can't eat to much. You might have to doggie bag it. The service is great, they do ask you for id when you order some drinks.

    Moorish Eggs

The kumru burger was carefully constructed- there was sausage, sweet gherkin, fried houmi cheese, tomato. The burger itself was flavorful, but was dry. Probably an aioli sauce would have helped it. The moorish eggs were good. They had sunny side up eggs and meatballs in a tomato based soup.

A bit pricey! But nice environment, good for hanging out with friends and sharing food. Food was good, but not especially memorable. Still, you will be sure to get good quality.

Staff comfortably approach you before you enter, without looking like the starving hyena that is often encountered walking past a restaurant. Even though I had only stopped in for a summery Pinot Gris this time around, I had a tall glass of ice water almost before I sat down with the wine, followed by a smile, not long after. A positively enjoyable restaurant for their lunch time specials, a hot date or a small group of friends for dinner.

When we first started going they had a $10 menu, then it was $12 and now its $14, oh inflation and rising prices. Anyway the lunch meals were always good and tasty, I think over the time I tried every lunch meal and they were all good and they had around 12 or so lunch specials. Probably the most popular one would be the Safran sandwich which is like a gourmet sandwich and very good. The food has a Spanish/Mediterranean influence. The service was always very good, somehow much better than all the other nearby places.

Buuuuut unfortunately a few things let it down. 1) The prices. They're too high. I hate complaining about how expensive a dish is because I know how high food costs are these days but $10.50 for two small goats cheese bites seems a bit steep. Even the small side of zucchini, lemon zest and pinenuts was $10.90. 2) The atmosphere or lack thereof. Granted it was a cold and windy Tuesday night but regardless of how busy it was the lights were too bright, the music was too quiet and the plastic table numbers made you feel like you were paying bistro prices to dine in a café chain. That being said the food was delicious. The baked goats cheese bites, warm and creamy, was served with a slice of medjool date. The half chicken was moist and covered in a buttery aioli and the zucchini was fresh and zesty. For me, Basque has a tonne of potential and clearly a fantastic chef, if only they put some more thought into creating a more inviting atmosphere I would be back in a jiffy.

What a disappointing dining experience!!!…read more Limited menu I could deal with. But then, I expect excellent, or at the very least, very good execution. Sadly, this wasn't meant to be, at least not this night. My wife and I shared four tapas, of which only one was properly served at an acceptably hot temperature. The Octopus (pulpo), $12, was served on sliced potato, and was decently flavored, without being rubbery. The Berenjena (eggplant served crostini or bruschetta style), $5.50, similarly served cold. The Piquillo, stuffed capsicum, was the only positive of the evening. This was served hot (temperature), and had a sweet taste with no heat, $14. The calamari, $11, was heavily breaded, and served cold. Even the white creamy sauce didn't help with the flavor. This completed the meal. See photos. The Avaniel tempranillo, $14/gl, was a full-bodied wine, and was enjoyable. Service was fair. All in all, a sorry evening, I won't be going back.
