We arrived on a Sunday evening for dinner. I was attracted to this establishment for its quinoa salad.
It was a brilliant afternoon, and when we arrived at about 7:15pm, the entire dining room was empty, and about 15 patrons were on the deck soaking up the last rays of sunshine, drinking mostly beers and smoking.
As we were there to eat, we sat inside. As the doors to the porch were open, a small amount of cigarette smoke wafted in, but it wasn't too off-putting that we had to leave.
I had called before arriving to make sure they had the salad, as we desperately wanted greens to eat that night. I was advised that they had it and confirmed the greens that were an integral part of the dish.
We started with the Char grilled tuna (see photo), and at $13 was a superb starter.
Next up our salads. Regrettably, there were only two leaves of green, atop a large mound of quinoa. When I questioned our server about the lack of greens, she returned with a small bowl of rocket greens for us to add into our quinoa.
The "salads" were $16 each. While the result was minimally acceptable, we consumed our meal, and left full, but not sated.
This place is really a bar, and they happen to have a menu of items to eat. The music blaring from the speakers placed everywhere was among the loudest music I've ever encountered in a bar, let alone a restaurant/bar, at 7:30 on a Sunday night.
Needless to say, this was an underwhelming experience. Obviously we went there for the wrong reason, as they cater to loud music, beer drinkers and smokers. read more
