DId somebody say chicken?
I have been shopping at this Ingles for years now and I have watched as they have evolved into a grocery powerhouse. They have better produce than ever before and they now carry more organic items than just about anybody in the area. And, to top it all off, they have just completed a massive upgrade to bring in Starbucks, a pharmacy and an Oriental fast food counter next to the regular deli. I have to mention the original deli, though, because it is so good and so affordable. For around $5 you can get a meat and 3 sides and the food is good. I recommend the fried chicken...I love fried chicken. Go early for lunch, though, because after that the food sits up and gets old and crusty under the heat lamps. I wouldn't try to make a supper out of it.
The store is always clean and bright and it has been my experience that I can find some things at Ingles that I cannot find at other stores...like Earth Balance spread, for example. There are others, but none come to mind at the moment.
Another benefit to shopping here is the meat market. When you get a whole chicken at most stores, no one is there to cut it up for you. But Ingles has a meat department and they will cut up a chicken (for example) into individual pieces for you at no charge. This is much cheaper than buying a chicken already cut up into pieces. (bet you didn't know that...haha)
Ingles is competitive in terms of pricing. They are not as cheap as Walmart's neighborhood market, but they do compete with Publix and Bi-Lo and Food Lion.
I continue to be a fan of this Ingles and will continue to support it, as long as they continue to cut up my chicken for free. : )
(I really don't eat that much chicken) read more
