Remember the space from Jack the Horse. It still has a similar but lighter feel. We got there early which was perfect because it definitely fills up. The service was friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. Everything we had was delicious - pickle plate, artichokes, pappardelle and arctic char. It seemed like I just could not escape all the hype around Ingas for moths so naturally it quickly crept up towards the top of my Brooklyn list of places to try. I really don't hang out in the charming Brooklyn Heights area nearly enough so no one really had to twist my arm too hard to get me through the doors. The first thing that struck me was how strangely close together all the tables are placed - we are talking shoulder to shoulder seating and therefore zero privacy or escape from conversations both to my left and to my right. Not my vibe to listen to some finance dude boast about all his accomplishments on my Saturday night. The food unfortunately didn't impress either. The $20 burger was super salty and was not unique in any way, but was cooked to a perfect medium and did come with a side of fries. The trout portion was quite small and tasted fishy but bland otherwise. My favorite dish was the green beans with sautéed onions, bacon, pea shoots, and dill, but we are talking about a side dish here. I would have hoped for my $15 rum cocktail to have been both larger and stiffer as well. Meh.. wanted to love this place, but truth be told - there are plenty of restaurants in the area with much better atmosphere and similar prices. read more

This is the kind of place where part of me wants to keep it a secret so I never have to wait for a table, yet I feel that everyone needs to go, and that Inga's Bar deserves the business. Brooklyn heights was in dire need of a restaurant like this, that could easily be in the west village, yet is unpretentious enough to be enjoyed as a local spot without needing to get all dressed up and make a night out of it. The burgers were fantastic- easily my new favorite burger in the city. And PIPING hot fries, with fresh mayo. Martini was fantastic. The atmosphere is warm and inviting and owner Sean made us feel very welcome. I'd come back again to try some of the more seasonal dishes, and definitely will be back for a burger and a seat at the bar. I hope Ingas will be around for years to come. read more

Elegant place with quite good food. Went for brunch and had the latkes with lox. The salmon was good and the latkes were ok, little bit of salmon roe along with the sour cream was a nice addition to the texture. The greens with it were bitter and I don't think they complemented it well. Service was great and the space is so beautiful that I'm sure it's a nice place for a drink, but the food was just not all too dazzling for the price. It's adorable inside and the service is warm; it makes for a festive and cosy evening. And a seriously loud and crowded one as well. Half of my ideal vibe. The food is underwhelming at best. Pete Wells must live across the street as do a lot of these reviewers craving for a sweet neighborhood spot- and this most certainly is that, but the menu is just a snore. The salads were basic and lacking in anything excluding a series of titanium rye croutons. The mushroom in polenta with egg is an app, not a main; my husband slurped that one up in a few bites. Maybe a 5 minute main course (in duration of consumption). My burger was really good- but I wanted something else- and there was literally nothing else on the menu that was of any interest (it was so limited). This celery revival ("celery victor" is as exciting to me as revisiting the uncoolest 90's fashion. I've been a few times- also at the bar- and the noise is piercing, so make a rezzie to get a table. I would also appreciate a posting of the menu or any menu changes- as there is no website, just insta. I will be back because I live in the neighborhood - and I am a sucker for a sweet environment with a full bar and french fries- but I also like to eat good food- so please make some. read more

Really nice spot for a burger and a negroni. They have mastered the balance between casual vibes but more elevated dishes. We loved the tuna tartare with an oolong egg and the butter greens salad! I would skip the rose pistachio cake since it was a bit dry. read more

Almost a year ago, we were very excited when Chef Sean Rembold announced he was opening a new restaurant just a couple blocks from us. Let's just say the long wait was well worthwhile! Inga's Bar is first & foremost a laid-back neighborhood establishment - not a stuffy fine dining experience at all. You'll find it in a dimly lit and cozy tavern located on a quiet corner in historic Brooklyn Heights. Come by for a wonderful dinner in their dining room or grab a seat at their bar for a drink. The ambiance and friendly service perfectly sets the mood for the evening. Currently, their open only for dinner service, but I've been told to expect Inga's to be open for lunch and brunch by this summer. Their menu is not extensive, but rather seasonal and will change often. On it you'll find a handful of appetizers, small plates to share, and larger entree options. There's something for everyone! I was particularly blown away by their dry-aged burger ($20) - I joke you not that it's up there with some of the best in the city. They beef is a custom blend of dry-aged cuts from the nearby butchery, Paisanos, located in Cobble Hill. The rich beef is complimented perfectly with sweet bread and butter pickles and house-made mayonnaise. Their hand-cut fries are also excellent. This restaurant is physically very lovely. However, it is the loudest restaurant I have ever had the displeasure of eating at. My wife and I could not hear one another unless we leaned over the table. In addition, the area where we were seated was so dark we literally could not see what we were eating although it did taste good. I was also disappointed in the single glass wine list which was not only limited, but were virtually tasteless. With so many good restaurant in Brooklyn we will not be going back to Inga's. read more

The burger is decent. The crudo was made of less than fresh fish and in a nondecript sauce. The measured noise lebvel was over 90 decibels. Th e service was good and the ambiance might have been nice if the low quality of the food and painful noise level did not render it unimportant. Avoid at any cost!!! read more

4.5 stars: what a gem of a spot! For drinks, I started off with their martini and never looked back - it was perfect. As for food, the duck croquettes were truly incredible and the celery victor salad was very good too. The mussels were prepared well, in a traditional garlicky broth and served with bread, while the bulgogi dish was quite unique though a little bit less of a hit than the other food we had. Finally, though, we ended with the delicious buttermilk and a taste of the housemade coconut-washed genepy - perfect together! Inga's Bar is a great new addition to the North Heights. And let me note that the neighborhood has embraced this restaurant! Luckily, it is possible to eat at the bar, and the house does save a certain number of tables for walk-ins. But pay attention to opening time if you are a first timer. On to the food, which is delicious. The appetizers are filled with shareable treats. I will put in a good word for the famous celery salad. Many seasonal options. Oh, the glory of the cheeseburger! It is a double, in the smashburger style, but every element is delightful. Inga's is not an inexpensive bite by any means, but the quality and care put into each dish is evident, and the cocktails are creative and stand on equal footing with the food. read more

We hosted dinner with our families at Ingas after getting married at City Hall in Brooklyn this past Friday. Their private dining room is beautiful and it was a really special place to get together with our closest friends and family. Their cocktails and wine choices were amazing, every item on the menu was delicious and they even honored my request to end a great meal with their blackout cake, my favorite. The service here is great! Literally we walked in and they made us feel like we are old regular friends coming back and we appreciated that. I love small menus because I feel like more attention and care going into the meal preparation and quality. We are not celery fans so we skipped that very popular dish. The terrine was lovely but for me the greens that accompanied the terrine was the star. Simple and fresh. The beef tongue was also flavorful as was the burger but the star was the trout. I will definitely return for this trout. I am a raw fish person but this trout was everything to me. We were too full for dessert so next time I will have trout all for me and a dessert and some cocktails. Can't wait to see what their winter menu brings. Things to bear in mind is that you are not really going to find a big entree dish here so if you are with someone with a heartier appetite several dishes may be needed. Enjoy Inga's! read more

Cozy spot. We live in the neighborhood so have been 4 or 5 times. Good cocktails and wine - food is hit or miss. I had a vegetable couscous the first time we went that was delicious, but have found everything we've had since to be incredibly salty (even the salads). We were at Ingas recently after having been there several times before. The people who work there continue to provide good service and are really very nice. However, this time the food was not nearly as good as it had been in previous visits. The burger was extremely salty and the celery salad dressing overwhelmed the salad, and not in a good way. Finally, the mussels came with only 4 opened, the rest were closed and too risky to eat. It is too bad that the food was not so great since the environment and service make dining here quite nice. read more

Last night a group of 5 of us dined there and the service was terrible. The two male servers were rushing us and were eager to kick us out. It ruined our experience.
