Well, I think its about time I write a review this place. I've been here several times already, for services both for myself, and to accompany others that I've referred to this place. I can confidently start off by saying I love this place. I've gotten four smallish tattoos here (thus far) for myself, one for my mom, and one for my bestfriend, which was a matching tattoo between me and him. I've also gotten one touched up (while getting one of my others, therefore getting it for a lower rate than if I had done it on a new date). All of my ink from there has been done by Jeremy, whom I commend for being so caring with his customers. Very friendly, and you can tell he loves what he does. Very patient with the needle, not rushed, so his work comes out great every time. I will definitely come back to this guy when I start planning bigger pieces. As for piercings, Josh is awesome. He did my septum back in December, and my vertical labret just last night. Both times, he was very chill, funny, and had an awesome attitude. Calm the whole time, very mellow, and very funny. The first piercing, I was super nervous, but that quickly changed as soon as I got on the chair. The second time, I already knew what I was in for, but still nervous at first. But it was quick, easy, and done before I knew it. Josh talks you through it, makes sure you're comfortable through the whole thing, and he definitely has a keen eye for precision. The shop itself is very clean, comfortable, and fun. There's a bunch of flash for one to sift through on the left wall, as well as paintings throughout. When you first walk in and take it all in, you'll immediately feel welcome. All in all, I recommend this place to everyone and their mother. Great service, great work, very understanding staff... Was looking for someone that did white ink tattoos...after a bunch of calls and responses of "sorry we don't do that kind of work"....or words of discouragement against that type of tattoo i stumbled upon Josh who had no objections and told me to stop by....my daughter (who wanted a sidepiece for her birthday) and I decided that was our place and headed on over.....man, did we luck out....i got an awesome white piece on my wrists (thanks again Josh) and my daughter got an absolutely beautiful sidepiece...Joy was amazingly patient with her....and did a fabulous job...if you want quality and are willing to pay for it..try this place out.....it's worth it, i promise......(see Jeremy, I told you I would yelp you.....) read more

Not sure how the F they have 5 stars. Excuse my language, but a tattoo is a piece permanent piece of art that goes on your body. Even more important when it's meaning directly resembles your family. With that said, my tattoo looks like sh*t! Uneven and just utterly disappointed. Cool guy, but should probably change his career. I've had to spent 3x the amount of money to fix it. TopNotch tattoo is elgin is the place to be. A little more expensive but worth every freaking dollar. I will post before and after pics once I'm done. I have a couple more sessions. read more

I wish I could give them a higher rating because the service I received when I got my piercing was good. It was when I tried to come back on two separate occasions to follow up, that I didn't like my experience. I first returned on a Tuesday evening and the person who does the piercings wasn't there so I was told to return the following day. I arrived at 12:00 pm and no one was there. I waited for 30 min, and still no one showed up. I personally believe that if you advertise being open at a certain time you should be unless noted. read more

Walked in and Stitch Listened to what I wanted and within minutes got a visual and within 20 minutes had sketch and about 3 hours later got exactly the tattoo I wanted. I had a similar experience to Shash. Josh touched up my 15-year old blurry chinese character and I couldn't be happier with the results. I think it actually looks better than when I first got it. Love this place!!! Very clean and not the norm for tattoo places, you know the too cool for school what do ya want attitude. Very reasonable as well. I came in with a not so easy cover-up that nobody really wanted to work on, or told me it couldn't be done the way I wanted, or,,,they quoted me extremely high prices. I saw Jeremy and he listened, drew up a sketch, and started the work. I couldn't be happier with it!! It completely exceeded my expectations and I will recommend him to anyone with confidence that they will get exactly what they want and more, and will not be disappointed. Great shop. Small and unassuming, very comfortable and easy experience. Walked in the day after Thanksgiving with my brother and husband. We all wanted to get different tattoos but wanted to do them together. Jeremy greeted us immediately, asked what we wanted to get done, and gave us quick and fair quotes. He was able to take us pretty much right away. He did great work and was really pleasant to talk to. My piece had a good amount of detail and he nailed it. Exactly what I wanted. I got a tongue piercing here and the pierced was so harsh. He even dropped the ball to the barbell which is why I don't think it healed well

I got a very small tattoo but the place is clean, the tattoo came out nice and Jeremy was courteous and cool. I would go back.

A friend recommended I see Steve Winters at Infamous Ink for a tattoo idea I'd been working on. I reached out and was able to schedule with him immediately. I brought in my ideas (a complicated dragonfly/peacock hybrid color tattoo) and he was able to sketch something beautiful in 20 minutes. We sat down to ink that night and 3.5 hours later it was even more beautiful than I ever could have imagined! I've been to a lot of tattoo studios and the staff is generally a little strange and tattoo pretentious at best and rude or unprofessional at worst. The guys at Infamous Ink were great. The shop was clean and welcoming. They were watching a funny TV show when I walked in (a welcomed change from the blaring death metal of my last show) and they worked to make me feel comfortable. Steve was the highlight of my experience. He was thoughtful, encouraging, and generally just great to be around. He made sure I was comfortable each moment while we were working. A couple came in while I was there to get there first tattoo and the guys were great. I've seen so many tattoo artists turn their nose up at simple pieces or show no patience with a first time customer. These guys were great. They made the couple feel comfortable enough to get their first pieces done that night and everyone walked away happy. I told Steve I was "cheating" on my other tattoo guy with him for this piece and by the end of our appointment I pronounced that I had a new guy! So I went to a few tattoo shops and spat out my ideas...nobody could put together what I wanted..UNTIL...I walked into Infamous Ink. I was immediately greeted by Josh and then Jeremy. I showed Josh my style and the idea I had in mind. He sketched it up while we walked over to the neighboring bar. 30 minutes later Josh showed me the sketch. It was EXACTLY what I was looking for...I was surprised how well he read my mind. After years of undecided ideas, it only took 30 minutes with Josh to get it right. This is a kool.looking spot. The price was a little high maybe becauseij didn't really negotiate. Idk. The younger guy tatted me and idk if he is heavy handed or it was a sensitive part of the body but anyway I have two small scars that take away from the tattoo. Great work! The owner did my tattoo. He was very patient and professional. If you are a first timer I would suggest this place. I have over 20 tattoos and have only gone back to two artists more than once. Basically because I am an artist and like artists putting their work on me, so I like to switch it up. One night in April my best friend and I were at a bar seeing a show. He has one tattoo and no piercings. He turns to me in the middle of the show and says, "Hey, do you want to go get a tattoo and piercing tonight?" I look at him puzzled....SURE! It was around 11 I think and I suggested Infamous Ink since I knew it was open and I've heard great things about the studio. We get there and both say we want a tattoo and piercing each. I said I wanted my Tragus pierced and lyrics on my knuckles. He wanted an ear piercing and small tattoo on his wrist. Our artist (yes he did both) was Josh. I got pierced first and then he went to do my knuckles. I got my other knuckles tattooed and I know it hurts. Josh did a great job, making sure I was comfortable and all that. He went over the lines multiple times to make sure it was perfect. Even though my knuckles were obviously swollen it looked AMAZING! My friend just got a tattoo and loved his as well. The prices were pretty reasonable...especially for Wicker Park. Fast track to June. My fiance and I (he has NO piercings or tattoos) wanted some semi-matching tattoos. I suggested we go to Infamous and get it done by Josh. I emailed Josh, gave him the photo along with an idea and he booked us for a Friday night. We wanted a musical heart/bass clef (pretty simple). When my fiance and I got there you could see he was nervous. He went first and hardly had any pain (he got his on his arm). As soon as he was done Josh asked how that was an he said not that bad at all. My fiance even said before he got out of the chair that he couldn't wait for his next tattoo! Next was me...I got mine on my hip bone. Josh made mine a little different and put little heart lines on both sides :) I heard the hip bone is VERY painful and I also have a huge scar that Josh was trying to cover. Besides my knuckles it was probably the most painful spot but Josh was again quick, fast, sweet, and all that. Our tattoos healed up great and we are very satisfied. Since then my fiance keeps saying when can we go back for another :) Soon. I totally recommend Infamous. Professional staff, clean, reasonable prices. My girlfriend and I were looking for a place to get tattoos on New Years Day (starting the new year off right!) and this seemed to be one of the only places open. Well thank god that was the case because we had an excellent experience! Place is really clean, and all the staff are super friendly. I was with Josh, and he did an excellent job, it turned out exactly how I wanted it. He also made me feel really comfortable, as we chatted the whole time - as well as with other people in the shop. Steve is so great. I wasn't 100% sure what I wanted my piece to look like, but he helped to talk me through it and designed a custom tattoo that fits my personality and my arm perfectly. I will definitely be going back to him for some more work in the near future. I only gave 4 stars not because of Steve, but because of the shop itself. There are much nicer and more updated shops out there, but I suppose this one got the job done. They were playing some antique car renovations show on TLC on the flat screen tv. Now this may have been fine. If it were a shop full of men. But the only people in the whole place were 3 staff members (including a manager who I'm not sure of his purpose..) and me and one of my other girly girlfriends. Anyway, Steve is great! I had never heard of this place before. I actually came on here (Yelp) to find a place to get a tattoo on my back covered up. Read the good reviews on here and that's what made me come in. I dropped by and spoke with Steve. He couldn't take me the first night but made an appointment for the next night. I came in the next night and Steve started on time. I showed him a picture of what I wanted and he had great ideas for what I should add to it and what colors to put in the tattoo. He was very quick and professional. You can't see the tattoo I had before at all. So, I would say he did a great job covering up my old tattoo. The new one is perfect. I have gotten a lot of compliments on the job so far. I was charged $150 just to have a little smoke added to a small area to make everything blend. The color shading was way off and splotchy. Messaged for touch up and never replied back yet replied really fast when I first inquired for the smoke. Decided to go somewhere else to get it fixed cause didn't want to risk having the touchup just make it worse and then unfixable. Horrible experience! Would not recommend going! read more

At first I thought this place was alright, the first guy spent a long time on a tattoo in which I was iffy but still got. In the end it turned out alright but the ink didn't really stick. At that point I decided I would never go back. Well, I lied to myself and did end up going back, but only because the other places in that area sucked even more. I got a second tattoo, in which the guy free handed some of it and it turned out horrible. It is uneven/sloppy and the ink he used was crap. When I went back to get it fixed the guy blew me off two times and on the third time he was 30 min late. He complained about having to fix it for free and how needles don't come cheap (that's a lie). After he was done the ink still wouldn't stick long and the tattoo wasn't fixed at all. I refuse to go back and have them mess it up even more. DON'T GO HERE, there are plenty of other shops that use good ink and charge the same price. read more

JEREMY!!!!!! So, last year wait no in 2016 I decided to finally get my eyebrow pierced and was looking for a place to drop in. Dropped in to a place down the street from I.I and the guy was a total douche bag. My instincts told me to RUN!!! End up at Infamous Ink and was greeted with ease by Jeremy the moment I walked in. Told him what I wanted, and he pierced my Eyebrow. Then I Decided I wanted this tattoo I'd been wanting for sometime on the back of my neck. And Jeremy draws It up and does It. We were laughing and had a great convo come to find out he'd tatted. Coworker of mine whose art I adored ! So with that being said, i just got my nose pierced. In the end I was satisfied with my tattoo but felt very judged by the tattoo artist Josh. Every question I asked he laughed like I was stupid and would never fully answer any of my questions. I can honestly say he did great work which is what mattered most but customer service needs some improving. Thankfully I got a great tattoo out of it but I will not be going there again. This is my first Yelp review and I just thought it appropriate to review what my great experience at Infamous Ink. I had been planning for a tattoo for months and had the general idea of what I wanted and where. Of course I still needed to do my due diligence and began looking online for reviews of my top choices. After much reading I visited 3 of the highest ranked ones.At the first one the customer service sucked. Never made it past the "receptionist", the 2nd one was better but though they say no appts. needed, they do take appts and were booked for the day. I have to say that the guy I spoke with was very nice and I'd planned to come back to him. On my way to the third shop I ran into Infamous Ink and my "good vibe" radar went off. I walked in the door and was immediately welcomed by Josh. My experience from there only got better. Not only did he work with my sister and I on our tattoo choices, he was so patient and helpful. He quoted me a great price. Even when I changed my mind and decided to get a cover up for an old tattoo he didn't miss a beat. My end result is absolute joy. Not only did he do an AMAZING job on the cover up, he took it a step further and totatly made it me. He was very light handed and it didn't hurt much at all. I've been getting tons of compliments on the work even with it peeling and not looking its absolute best. To see the great work is a testament to the artist. Can't wait for my next one. My best friend just moved to Chicago from LA and I decided that one of the best ways to spend one of my last few days with her would be to get my memorial tattoo for my grandmother. I called the shop and spoke with Josh who said that he had time to see me today. I've had the idea for my tattoo in mind for awhile but had nothing drawn or sketched out on paper. Josh was very patient and extremely easy to work with. He was very helpful in putting my dream image down on paper and listened to all my and concerns in regards to the piece. I chose to put it on my ribs, which can be pretty painful...it definitely hurt, but Josh's skill was apparent...the pain was definitely at a minimum for this sensitive spot and he worked so efficiently that it was done within an hour at no expense to the aesthetics of my piece. I LOVE my new tattoo... It is absolutely even greater than the image I had in my head and I'm thrilled bc this memorial piece was so important to me and so close to my heart.
