I had the best experience getting a tattoo from Lexi (@_lexitat). I've gotten multiple tattoos at Crispy Aura before (all of which have been an incredible experience), but this was my first tattoo by Lexi. I sent her a few inspo pictures, and she created the most beautiful tattoo. She had great communication, was so friendly, and did such an incredible job and is so talented, and it was a 10/10 experience in every way. I couldn't recommend Crispy Aura and Lexi more!

I had been on the waitlist for awhile for a tattoo with Linh, and she was so worth the wait! I drew my own birth flower vine based on some of the ones from her instagram, and she cleaned up a few of the flowers but left it mostly true to the original drawing. She walked me through the different sizes to choose, where to put the color, etc. so thoroughly. The tattoo is pretty big and took maybe two hours, max, and it didn't hurt much at all! I am SO happy with it, and so grateful for Linh's expertise and artistry! PS the studio is so adorable and has the biggest Bird of Paradise that I have ever seen!

During the tattoo session, she was incredibly attentive to my needs--gentle when she could be, offered numbing when I needed it, and even let me bring a friend along to help distract me while getting tattooed. The studio itself is such a vibe--pink, sparkly, and super welcoming. Whether you're going in for your first tattoo or your tenth, they make the experience feel safe, comfortable, and fun. Ash and the team are amazing at working with your vision--whether you're starting from scratch or already have something in mind. I'm beyond happy with my piece and so thankful to have had such a positive and meaningful experience.

The vibes were wonderful in there! I got a flash tattoo from Jess and it turned out AMAZING, I love it so much. She did an amazing job shading, and even though I got it for Haku and Chihiro (from Spirited Away), my favorite part is the flower, I'm in LOVE with how she detailed and shaded them She made sure I was comfortable the whole time, and always asked if I needed a break or anything. I'm a little addicted to getting tattooed at Crispy Aura. My wallet isn't exactly thrilled with me, but my skin is! I am thankful to have such beautiful art on me forever. I have now gotten four tattoos from two artists: Jess and Ash. Both gave me a custom and a flash design. Working with them was incredibly easy and they were so kind, and made the process painless. I can't rave about this place enough! It's women owned and operated! It's a beautiful space, light and airy- more like a salon than a place for tattoos. Vibes- 10/10, the studio is like my dream space. It's so cute, welcoming and makes me feel cozy. All of the artists here are also so sweet and you can tell they're such a close group of workers Tattooing - I never have a thought of anything being unsafe or if it's sterile/clean, again such a high standard around the studio. As far as actual tattoos I've gotten my last five here and will definitely be my go to for a while. Jess (it.yethicca) is amazing and you can tell she puts so much thought and care into her pieces. Where do I even begin! First off, I have to say that the location itself is amazing! Free street parking was plentiful and the studio itself is so cute, I love all the awesome stuff you can buy there too! Linh is extraordinary in so many ways. She is such a good listener and works with you to find the best fit. She is so thorough, polite, thoughtful, and kind. I am obsessed with every tattoo I've gotten from her so far! I normally NEVER post negative reviews, but I have to say I am really sad about my experience with Crispy Aura. I got a tattoo done by one of the team at a charity event for $100. Now, I have 9 other tattoos and I understand that fine line typically requires touch up after it is healed. Mine healed, it was not even and I saw their policy that it was $25 for a touch up the first 2 months. Great! I went to look for a phone number or an email to schedule a touch up, but there is no such thing. I then took to Instagram, messaged them twice, and got not response. 2 months came and went and I never heard back. Unfortunately, I had to get it covered up by another tattoo artist. I also know that tattoo artists (mine specifically) is not a trained tattoo artist by trade. While having apprentices is absolutely fine, that information should always be disclosed to the person getting the tattoo. Luckily, I love my cover up. But I'm really disappointed in my experience with Crispy Aura. read more

I called over the phone a few months later to see if they could fix it, and the man on the phone said "Usually people bitch about and fix there tattoos once it finishes healing." and "Jerry is here every day, you could stalk him" It's going to take 3k to remove it! Would not trust anyone at this shop, avoid at all costs!

The shop also does some cool Chicago tattoo preservation and hangs old flashes from the first tattoo shops in the city. I will definitely be back GLT!

For reference I have over 10 tattoos have gone to many shops now. Firstly, a tattoo on my arm, the artist (still works at the shop) did NOT prep the skin or shave the spot until I told them and now that its 2 years old its super faded and sloppy line work. Then for my second tattoo, its splotchy and wobbly. The artist could pull a clean line to save their life. Its so embarrassing to have this on my skin... forever. I do not recommend. Seriously. Do not go here I don't even know how they have 5 stars.
