No one picks up when you call, you need to talk to a virtual assistant. I had made an appointment less than 48 hours in advance, the morning of I was sick and called to reschedule. I left a vm at 5:30am for my 4:30pm appointment. I told them I was sick and didn't want to get anyone there sick. They told me I'd be charged $30, and it could go towards my next service. A few days later, I was charged $30 without my consent. The owner has specified that the $30 would go towards my next service. So I'm not sure why they charged my card. I'm not planning to return, it's not run very well. I'll travel further for better service. read more

I'm very disappointed with how this business operates. My daughters and I have been here few times without any issues, until now. During my last visit for a haircut, everything went smoothly, and we even discussed bringing my daughter in to get her hair dyed. About a week later, I received a reminder for an appointment I didn't recognize. It turns out my oldest daughter had pre-scheduled appointments for her younger sister during a previous visit without my knowledge. Thankfully, I caught the reminder in time to cancel, with plans to reschedule when I got back from out of town. A few days later, I received another reminder. When I asked my daughter, I found out she had also scheduled appointments for herself and her other sister. Since the cancellations were within 24 hours of the appointments, I understood there would be a fee. Per their policy, I expected a $30 charge for each late cancellation. This was our first time ever needing to cancel on short notice. To my surprise, not only did they charge my card $60, but they also charged my daughter another $60. I don't recall ever giving consent to keep my card on file, let alone to be charged like this. Indira in Park Ridge is my new hair place. Their cleanliness and covid procedures make me feel at ease when entering the salon. I see Rianna for my color (brunette to platinum) since last year and she out does herself every time. Before seeing Rianna, my hair was thinning rather rapidly and between the treatments and Aveda product recommendations, the thinning has stopped, perhaps even filled in! Besides being a master of her trade, Rianna is welcoming and friendly and we chat through the entire appointment! Went here for first time last week. Lucy is great hair stylist. Friendly, warm and a professional. No complaints here. Went for basic manicure and sat at a portable nail station that was so uncomfortable. Nothing special no massage, hand mitts or warmers. No nail dryer, light or fan to dry nails. Products used were average yet they charged me $40 !! I will not go back for manicure as park ridge has plenty of nail salons in the area for a lot less. I should have asked the cost before I booked... my fault for that. After asking around it seems this salon has hair techs fill in as nail techs. Not a great first experience. Terrible customer service! I called yesterday at 3pm to cancel my appointment that was scheduled the next day at 9am. I informed them that I had a sore throat & runny nose! I was following Covid Rules from CDC and of our community! They insisted that I still pay the cancellation fee!! Even during a pandemic and the day before the appointment! DO NOT GO HERE!! This place is RIDICULOUS!!! Bait and Switch, which is against the law!! My daughter received a haircut from Laura before reaching out for a bayalage. Laura told her over the phone that it would cost at most $270. During her initial consultation, Laura stated that she could achieve the look that she was looking for in 2 sessions. After the bayalage appointment, I was charged $320 and when we arrived home, my daughter was not happy with the results. I began chatting with Tracey, salon manager, who informed me that it would take 4 sessions to achieve my daughter's desired look. I informed her that this is not what we were told. We've had a lot of back/forth correspondence and in the end, she would not even try to make us whole. I was asked to pay for any additional services. Attached are images of the model and my daughter's hair, as well as correspondence where Tracey tried to convince me that the bayalage was only for front, sides and top back, which is ridiculous because bayalage is towards the end of your hair vs. roots. After reading many articles saying how your hair dye only stays for 2-3 months I was so happy that my beautiful blonde hair was still extremely prominent 4 and a half months later! I went back to indira and went to Alyssa again because she mastered my hair the first time. I showed her a picture of what I wanted and when my hair was revealed I got exactly what I wanted and more. Alyssa is a true artist and I will forever recommend her. I set up my next appointment with her for the next time I come home from school. What a disapointment! The other reviewer is right -- looks a lot nicer from the outside. Inside seems clean but it is very small and cramped. In my case, that means no where to sit while you wait 30 mins for that wonderful spa treatment you made an appointment to have. Literally no where to sit, yes they kept me waiting more than 30 minutes. Cramped as in when I was getting my eyebrows waxed ($20), they put me at a shampoo bowl and another client and spa worker were so close by they kept bumping into me. I was afraid that the person working on me would get bumped and take my eyebrow totally off! Not exactly a luxury experience, yet they charge luxury prices. I had a pedicure ($60) first then the wax. After waiting 30 mins when I arrived on time for the pedicure, I was finally taken to the pedicure area. As I sat there, staff came in to show people the area. Tours or something? Not sure but I am paying for spa time and space and keep getting gawked at by strangers. Every time I close my eyes to relax with my feet soaking in warm water, the door slides open and people enter and talk loudly, pointing out things in the room, what I am doing. Really weird! Staff seemed young and really bored and were hanging out, talking loudly in the hall outside the pedicure area. When the woman who gave me my pedicure finally showed up, she would not shut up... not if I ignored her to read and not even when I closed my eyes and tried to relax and look asleep. 3/4 of the way thru, she noticed the spa music was off and she turned it on, which helped drown out all the gossip and chatter from outside the room. Summary: Could've spent much less and got the same experience at a strip mall somewhere. You can buy Aveda products on line for the same price. And they give free samples. Never again. PS: Called the corporate office to talk about what happened. The young woman responded by arguing with every thing I tried to say, even interrupting me to do so. For example, when I suggested that the staff could use add'l training (for example so that they would not "hang out" and ruin the spa atmosphere or chatter at clients who have their eyes closed, to perhaps knock a buck or two off when you keep people waiting 30 minutes), she cut me off with "the staff is very well trained." Isn't it possible to give no stars!? I had the most AWFUL experience here. I went in to have a brazilian bikini wax for my wedding/honeymoon and left in tears. The girl actually managed to get wax stuck in my hair and asked me to help her get it out! I was left sore, bruised and emotionally distressed. I recieved a gift certificate to the spa for my bridal shower and expected a professional service from an Aveda chain salon. I guess that just goes to show that working for a big name like that, wearing all black and, hell, even having an esthetics license do NOT make you professional. Not to mention all the dirty looks I was recieving while I was there. I refused to pay for my service since it was torturous and she never even touched the back half. The manager gave me a coupon for a $30 dollar facial which I thought was interesting since the girl told me in the room that she was running a special for November for $30 facials. So the manager basically tried to spin the special coupon as a gift specific to me! Now Im stuck with a $70 gift certificate that I won't use and I spent my wedding day and honeymoon with scabs and bruises on my unmentionables. I ended up having to go to another nearby spa to have my wax job salvaged and paid $62 dollars for it. I wrote an email to corporate explaining in detail what happened and demanded that I be reimbursed for the $62 but I havn't heard back yet. This was by far the worst experience I have ever had at any salon or spa. The scabs are still there (this was 10 days ago) and the memory of that day will haunt me forever. Not something a blushing bride should have to remember. My advice is to avoid this place...unprofessional, untalented, and unapologetic! read more

5 stars for Carly and her personality she's great and an asset to your company. Now, I came in today while my father was getting a facial. To kill time I asked if they had a manicure open. They said they did. To my surprise I was greeted by Carly who was very sweet and personable. As she started to do my nails I could see that she probably wasn't a nail tech. Kinda was nervous but her personality won me over. Come to find out she's a stylist at the salon. Ive never had a hair stylist do my nails. Which is not her fault I'm assuming the salon makes their stylists perform manicures. I stopped in for a pedicure because Aveda spas have a good reputation, and I have had great experiences at them in the past. Worst pedicure experience I have ever had. Agreed with prior reviews, it looks lovely- but the staff was lacking on the polish and it's tiny in there. When we walked into the treatment room, I was asked to not talk because there was only a glass partician separatating us from an ongoing massage. And true enough, I could hear them speaking when the massage was over. The woman who did my pedi was really nice, but the desk staff could have used some spa training. So, the pedi was done on what I assume was a treament table (like for facials), it was SO uncomfortable. I had to brace myself to balance and hold my legs up the entire time. I liked the people and service the few times I've come, but every time I try to book an appt online, it is nearly impossible. Every slot is booked like months out. Also I could not seem to figure out how to book a color treatment online, even though several of their stylists are listed as colorists. The only drop down option is haircut, style or other body/face treatments. No color treatment listed under haircut or style. When I call, no one answers the phone. This salon was fabulous! Many of the bad reviews were posted 2-5 years ago, so I suggest trying them again. I had my haircut by Carly and she was tremendous. She was friendly and did a great job cutting my hair! She was very knowledgable about products without forcing me to buy anything (though it helps that I own many Aveda products to begin with). The person I booked the appointment with was wonderful (I didn't catch her name), and Stephanie was working reception on the day of my appointment. She, too, was friendly, bubbly, and gave me good tips about makeup when I asked. I've been to several Aveda salons and this one was one of the nicest (as far as retail space and hair salon area). I am so angry and aggravated right now, I could spit nails!! I received a great gift for a massage/facial for my birthday, which was in January. That same month, I put in a request at work to take this week of March 19th off. So, two weeks ago, I called to schedule my luxurious spa day. I gave the female call taker all the relevant information. I asked for a morning appointment for sometime this week. She told me the only "space" she had available for the Park Ridge location was Wednesday, March 21 at 1:30. So I took it, even though I preferred a morning spot. Well! Lo and behold, I show up for my appointment 15 minutes early, as suggested by the woman I spoke with, and Bridgette, who turned out to be the GM, had nothing under my name except for my email address!!! The best she did was ask me to find the confirmation email or the date on my call log, for when I had placed the original call. I made several attempts to do so, all the while expressing how angry I was that my entire afternoon was wasted and getting more time off of work is extremely difficult for me. She informed me she had no one available to accommodate me for my slotted appointment times, but made no other attempt to me happy other than to tell me she'd be speaking to the owner! And of course apologizing to me for my inconvenience. I told her, I appreciate the sentiment, but what is that going to do for me??? I even apologized to her because I realized it wasnt her fault an incompetent employee screwed up! Her main goal seemed to want to figure out which "wonderful" call taker DIDNT make my appointments!!! I told her that wouldn't make any difference to me as my afternoon was ruined and I was pissed off on top of it!!! The fact that the GM did nothing to try to make this right has me absolutely floored! I don't know how they stay in business, if this is their idea of "customer service"!!! If you dare to make any appointments here, I suggest you not only get the call takers name, but get her social, blood sample and dna! I had a great hair cut by Carly here and would love to go back, but can't get any response from the team there. I tried booking online but the system failed and the follow-up instructions were incomplete. I contacted the email address provided and got no response. Later, I got a response from a different email address asking how I tried to contact them before but still refused to help me in booking an appointment. I don't get it. I have wasted time trying to contact them and am super disappointed that I now have to waste more time finding someone else to cut my hair. This is a fabulous salon. I have gotten facials and massages here for the past 2-3 years. Meghan does a great job with facials and massages and Arielle is a great massage therapist. No one here has ever tried to pressure me into buying products. Brigette took over as manager some time ago and is responsive and helpful. I have never had a problem getting an appointment, so I'm not sure why another reviewer had problems. The staff here seem to care a great deal for their customers and are always warm and friendly. I have had facials and massages at a lot of different places and as far as I'm concerned, this salon is the best! WHAT A TERRIBLE PLACE!!!!!!!!!! From the outside the place looks amazing, but the minute you walk inside the atmosphere changes: It is like an apple- looks nice and fresh on the outside, but the second you bite into it, it is rotten on the inside. It is uncomfortable, place is too small, staff is vulgar and not very accommodating. Never had colored my hair before, I needed a change, a real change. I called the salon, because it was nice and close. The girl on the phone assured me I would spend $90-140 for color and some highlights, so I felt comfortable with the price and made an appointment. I brought in a lot of pictures of what I wanted my hair to look like (honey brown) After my hairstylist did what she did, my hair looked nothing like I wanted it to, so I spoke up, My hairstylist snapped at me ( literally snapped at me) told me she is a professional and knows what she is doing .....really? Don't you think you should have told me that before you touched my hair? I came in with a vision, my vision, and if you felt that it wasn't going to "fit" me, then you should have said something before starting to work on my hair. She was very aggressive with her tone of voice, and asked what I didn't like about what she did. It was extremely uncomfortable as there were a lot of other clients there, so I chose to leave it alone and not get into any confrontation. Needless to say, she ended up charging me $225 for all the time she spent with me. I chose not to say anything and walk away. Like the previous reviewers, I called the corporate office and no one gotten back to me in 2 weeks. From the scalp massage all the way to my haircut and beautiful blowout, Nicole really surpassed my expectations. I felt as though she understood what I was saying. LOVE this place. I was desperate for a massage one day, after a very rough week of work, and was able to get in the same day. The receptionist could not have been nicer or more accomodating. This was actually my first experience at an Aveda spa and it was fabulous. I received a complimentary foot soak during my brief consultation with the masseuse, Stephanie. I'm usually sensitive to strong aromas/perfumes, but for some reason, the aveda products did not bother me at all, they just made the experience so much more relaxing. The massage itself was wonderful. Relieved tension completely and was so relaxing. Customer service was top notch. They have a great rewards program, which they explain without being push at all.
