She's a hit with the young women as well as older ones because she knows what works to be trendy or timeless at any age. Shawn is that rare artist who truly listens to her clients and delivers the best results without drama. Again, I'd recommend her as a uniquely talented colorist and a fun person to spend time with. A rare and wonderful combo! read more

I have naturally red hair, but over time the gray started coming in and the red became more of a strawberry color. I missed the darker red color from my youth. I sent Shawn a picture of my current color and the shade that I wanted it to be. She created the perfect color! Not only that, she cut my hair exactly as I asked her to. On my second visit, she made a couple of suggestions about long layers and some minor changes and it was even better than the first visit! It only took me about 20 years to find my stylist for life...Shawn read more

I understand that quality extensions, installation, and upkeep is not a cheap service, but after several outrageous quotes from many salons I was ready to go back to clip ins. I tried one last salon, Bastians. After a great conversation and in person consultation I was quoted a reasonable price for the hair and installation of microlinks so I went for it. People I Look Amazing!!!! I am sooo happy and it was worth every penny. Shawn is so talented, kind, and fair. I highly recommend her and Bastians Salon for hair extensions. I plan on seeing her every 7 weeks for maintenance and am beyond thrilled I found this Salon!! read more

Can't say enough good things about my first experience with Shawn at Bastian Salon. I bought a livingsocial deal for a haircut/partial highlights, since the salon where I was supposed to get it done before my wedding cancelled on me last minute. Shawn squeezed me in no problem. Although I was nervous about having it done at a new place, all my worries should have been put aside. Shawn gave me wonderful subtle, natural highlights (exactly what I wanted for my naturally dirty blonde hair) and a great haircut. Even the hairstylist who was doing my hair for my wedding commented on how good the highlight placement was done. Shawn is knowledgeable, attentive, and a wonderful conversationalist. You feel right at home (plus, she has the cutest dog). I'll definitely be back!! read more

I have to say i've been going to this boutique for well over 10 years, and can say nothing but great things. Shawn has worked with numerous big named companies and is very knowledgeable for all her products and everything that she carries. She stays in touch with the latest trends and newest products. Shawn has put a lot of effort into the salon to make it a very comfortable atmosphere, with a little bit of a twist. Shawn is an amazing salon owner! She recently updated the look of the salon and it looks absolutely stunning! I bought a groupon (recommended by her since it would have been my first time there and it was a great deal) for a haircut and highlights. I usually go with a boring trim so this was a different experience for sure! She said she wanted to give me some layers to "sexy up" my look - and oh man, was it ever! I came into the salon at a later hour and she kept doing my hair until 2 hours after close in order to make sure it all looked amazing. The highlights were placed perfectly and I received compliments on it until I made another change and dyed it... A whole year later! I can't remember the last time I liked a haircut and color so much that I left it alone for so long, and I have never been so pleased by something in my life. Shawn did such an incredible job that the growing out phase looked amazing, too! I can't wait to make another appointment to get some sexy summer hair! read more

Shawn at Bastian Salon is one of the most talented hair dressers I'ver ever found. She will do it right each and every time!

She knows exactly how I like my hair and doesn't make a move until she is sure that is what I want. She uses high quality products and is truly an incredible hair stylist. I would recommend her over and over again! read more

Very unprofessional. I purchased a Groupon for hair Extentions. Very difficult to get ahold of someone to schedule an appointment. I called the two numbers listed on the Groupon. First number (8476925211) said that the mailbox was full so there was no way of getting ahold of someone. I called the next day and still no answer. Then I called the second number (224-250-7782) and no answer. I decided to text the 224 number and finally received a call. The person I spoke to was so rude. He said didn't even know there was a Groupon (when it states "mention this Groupon"). He used the word "stupid" and laughed when I told him I wanted to wait until May to get my hair extensions, even if I get the same hair color every time I get it done. He made me feel so comfortable on the phone that I told him I will contact Groupon myself and take my business elsewhere. What makes him think that I would trust him with my hair with such a poor representation of this salon? This salon needs to work on their communication as well as their customer service skills. read more

My visit was my first time there, and I had a Living Social for a cut and partial highlights. Interacting with Shawn was like hanging out with a friend - she was very attentive, and made sure to listen to what I wanted in terms of the cut and the color of the highlights. This post is looooong overdue. I had an AMAZING experience at this salon in the beginning of the summer. The salon owner, Shawn, is an absolute sweetheart and an extremely talented hair stylist. She did a beautiful job on my highlights and hair cut and treated me like royalty the entire time I was there. While the highlights were processing in my hair, Shawn kept checking on me and asking me how I was doing and bringing me magazines. She even made me coffee and mixed the cream and sugar in it for me! Being 4.5 months pregnant at the time, it felt so nice to be pampered and well taken care of for a couple of hours. I left feeling relaxed and beautiful. The salon is a hidden gem near the heart of Park Ridge, and the owner is a hidden angel. I will definitely go back to this salon again not only because I loved how my hair turned out, but also because the customer service was top notch. read more
