What a hidden gem in Rehoboth! We finally tried Indigo after years of visiting Rehoboth and were so glad we did. The service is awesome and the place is clean and spacious. The food is delicious and honestly just such GOOD Indian food. The only lowlight was they forgot our raita which the menu said comes with each entree and when we asked for it was surprised it was charged in the bill. The highlights were pretty much every other dish. Chicken jalfrazi was tasty and saucy. Shrimp marsala was a little on the sweet side but still yummy. Eggplant curry was perfect. Garlic naan was delicious but the star for me was the crisp lentil bread. So crispy and smoky and paired excellent with all the sauces and dishes. Wow I waited way too long to try this place. Being that it's on the first block of the avenue I just figured it was a gimmicky "Indian" spot. It's not. We started with the non-Vegan snacks which included shrimp, a sausage-like meat and chicken with peppers and onions. It was so delicious. Im a wimp when it comes to spice level so it was nice to eat a very heavily spiced dish that wasn't spicy at all. My husband got the lamb Tikka and I got the lamb Rogan Josh. They were so delicious with plenty of sauce and the rice served on the side. The garlic naan was also perfect. We enjoyed dessert too including the rice pudding. My wife and I spent a week in town for our 9 year wedding anniversary. The night of, we had planned to go to Henlopen City Ouster House, but after walking in and hearing how incredibly loud it was, we decided to go to Indigo instead. I cannot begin to describe how glad I am for this outcome. We had an absolutely amazing meal. For one thing, the atmosphere was great. Not fancy, but cozy and quiet and perfect for a conversation. Also, service was excellent. Prompt, friendly, but never hovering. Finally, and most importantly, the food was delicious! My wife and I love Indian food, but we are picky. More often than not I find the food at a random Indian place to be underwhelming. Not the case here. The food had an incredible depth of flavor and a solid kick (we ordered our dishes spicy). Some of the best Indian food I have had in months if not years. Will 100% be back, and I would highly recommend this to anyone in the area. read more

We chose this place for late lunch after a day on Rehoboth Beach. It's on the main strip nestled between a popcorn shop and a lemonade stand, all of which is surrounded by souvenir shops, other restaurants, snack shops, and plenty of people watching. We were the only customers there so it was very quiet. So quiet that my sister decided to take my two toddlers on a walk while we waited for food. They unsurprisingly came back with a small tub of popcorn. The food was fine. I had the lentil soup and the chicken tika masala. It was well-made and beautifully plated. It wasn't the best most flavorful food I've had in my life but it tasted how I expected. This was a reminder that Indian food is my husband's favorite, not mine (and unfortunately he wasn't with us). Neither of the other adults at the table (my mom, sister, nephew) had ever had Indian food so I was tasked with introducing them to the experience. While I'd agree with some of the reviews that noted the staff may not have the best English, they were incredibly attentive and made the experience outstanding. This gem in Rehoboth is near the boardwalk on Main Street downtown. The place has nice decor, white table clothes and beautiful tin pendant lights with bells on the end. We were promptly seated. The crackers with sauce appetizer that is placed on each table was nice; loved the dipping sauces. We ordered a few apps which were fantastic. For dinner, the prawns, butter chicken, Rogan John Lamb and rice dish we ordered was divine! They do ask how spicy you want the dish-so no worries if you can't handle or don't like heat. My favorite surprise of the evening was a sweet, warm carrot pudding/purée with chopped nuts, and a rice pudding. Both were great but the carrots were on point!! I was staying at Bethany beach but ordered from here, it being the closest (30 minutes drive one way) place to us. Ordered three things - butter chicken, paneer makhani, and lamb Rogan Josh.... I can maybe understand how the butter chicken and paneer makhani can be the dark gravy or basically very similar but seeing ALL THREE look exactly the same and then basically tasting the same was shocking and disappointing. Fantastic sit down Indian restaurant. First, the waitstaff were all excellent. Very friendly and attentive. The booths were very large and plenty comfortable for 4 people and all the plates and bowls you will eventually have! I started with a Manhattan and wow, very generous pour and well made. And I assume it was happy hour pricing because it was a total steal. We started with the Chicken Shorba soup which had lots of small diced tandoori chicken. The broth was amazing spiced with cilantro, coconut, and we think lemon juice. I've never had this soup before and now it will be an automatic order at any Indian restaurant that serves it! We got the Indian snack platter which came with a vegetable samosa and a bunch of vegetable fritters. All very good. The we had Chicken Tikka Masala and Chicken Vindaloo. The Vidaloo had big chunks of dark meat chicken with a couple of chunks of potato. The dark meat was so tender. It was the kind of spicy that builds over time and gave me a full head sweat by the end. But it wasn't upfront spicy which was nice. And the dark sauce was perfect with rice and naan. The only complaint is it could have used more potato. The Tikka was big chunks of tender white meat in a great "white" sauce also fantastic with some rice and naan. Each portion was appropriately sized for one and not a "family style" portion. Everyone got a place with some basmati rice and a small stew of chickpeas. Garlic naan was great but a bit small. Recommend getting 1 per person or maybe 3 for 4 people depending on your appetite. Overall a great meal. Not expensive. Great service. And great atmosphere. Highly recommend! read more

The niche is open; Rehoboth is not exactly oversupplied with diverse ethnic cuisines or vegetarian-friendly places, which has always puzzled me given the crowd it attracts. They may finally have a good Indian place though. I insisted that I could handle my daal spicy and it came bursting with flavor and enough heat to give me a few hiccups. The vegetarian parantha (basically a samosa bread) was really quite nice for dipping. A variety of accompaniments appeared, including a small side of delicious chickpeas with the main meal and a papadum and chutneys beforehand. I though the chai I ordered tasted off, but then I realized it just didn't have any sugar in it. Given that there was sugar at the table if I wanted it, this was fine; like virtually everyone I could use less sugar in my diet, and the taste of tea and spices worked well once I recalibrated expectations. As is often the case, the first four stars are for food, but the last I give out only if the overall experience is outstanding. Here we have a place a block from the beach, which was open year-round (many businesses understandably close or have drastically reduced hours during the offseason) and also had sweet specials. I got 25% off on a Monday night, full stop. I would have paid full price on a busy summer day, but I'll take it. The inside space was long and narrow, with relatively private booths, and seemed quite well-maintained. And I got plenty of service, including a dialogue on whether I was vegan or had any other allergies or restrictions, which is very important, and again puts them ahead of a lot of local restaurants. read more

my husband and i walked by the restaurant on our way to breakfast this morning. we stopped and looked at the menu and decided that maybe we should eat lunch there. we came back around 4:30 PM and the restaurant was completely empty. we sat down, went over the menu ordered.... My husband got chicken tikka masala. it was okay. definitely not the best i've had but we were able to eat it. i had the chicken saag. it was also okay and what i would consider mediocre. we got garlic nan as well. it was again extremely average. decor is good, staff friendly and service 10/10. average food for the price. read more

Indigo has a very nice ambiance with fine linens, pretty lighting, and booths or table seating. The appetizer, cracker like bread, I loved because it was salty. It came with a red sauce made of onions not my fav, a green sauce of various spices which was good, and a sweet brown tamarind sauce I loved. The vegan Roti was good, but some were a bit overdone. The vegan appetizer plate was great. The Aloo Saag was very good coupled with the Vegetable Biryani which had a good blend of veggies. The service was very good. Indigo has yummy vegan options. Was a little nervous about trying this place . Nerves went away right after we were seated. Waiter explained the menu and spice level. Food was outstanding. Had the butter chicken and the lamb Marsala which I had spicy. Must get the naan bread to enjoy the sauce. I tried the carrot pudding for dessert.. shredded carrots with butter and milk topped with nuts and raisins. Glad I tried it. Can't wait to go back again and try more delicious food.
