Absolutely NOT! I came here on a Saturday night craving some Lamb Korma. I'm new to the area and was tired of having to drive all the way to Saint Louis for good ethnic food, so I decided to give them a try. BIG mistake. I paid $21 (after tax) for a bowl of curry sauce and lamb leavings. There was barely any meat in the bowl. For $21?!?!?!ABSOLUTELY NOT! If they ran out of lamb they should've just said so. Needless to say, I won't be back. No wonder the restaurant was empty on a Saturday night. As for the taste, the curry sauce was decent. It would've been great if it came with lamb though. As for the ambiance, their lighting looks like they're trying to conserve energy. It's dark in all the wrong places. It's just dark and red, no vibe. I hope this helps someone. It would be ideal if it helped the restaurant figure their way around decreasing profit margins. Charge more, but make sure there's actually meat in bowl. Do better. read more

Ordered food from here while I was in the hospital, even called them to make sure they understood what I was looking for etc. Food came and there were literally 6 1/2inch cubes of meat in all the gravy. Will never go here again. read more

We have been going here for over 15 years and can't get enough! This is a family owned restaurant with excellent options and quality.

India's Oven is a hidden gem in the middle of an ominous strip mall. My wife found the place and Google made a reservation for us. No reservations were needed. The place was empty with a gentleman and his assistant watching out the front window waiting for customers at dinner time (6:30pm). They greeted us at the door with welcoming smiles and showed us to the elegant fine dining tables. Water glasses were filled and the delicately folded cloth napkins were placed on our laps. I don't know that the warm hospitality of the staff would turn away children, but I would not take a child into the place that does not have the utmost respect for other patrons peacefully eating a traditional Indian Feast. The food was amazing. Our server started us off with an appetizer that I can not pronounce, but any basic white girl could enjoy. The sweet and sour sauce and the mint pesto was super cool to try. They suggested our entrees, Nan and brought out complimentary deserts. It was a great culinary adventure for us to explore traditional food from India. 10 out of 10 for the overall experience. Thrilled that we tried it. If you want to try authentic foods from other cultures, this is a place to add to your list. Price was very reasonable for the food and ambience we experienced. The food is really good. The attitude and service is a bit off when you dine in. The moment you finish, they become ride and want to rush you out. on top of that, there is hardly any meat in the dish upon arrival to the table. Whether it's fish or lamb, there is a ton of sauce and no meat. The utensils seem purchased from a military thrift shop, extremely old and beat up. Ordered takeout from this restaurant and overall the food was good. The chicken tikka masala was very flavorful and had the perfect amount of heat. It didn't taste too tomato-y like some other restaurants make their tikka masala. The chicken pieces were very few, and for the price I expected to get more meat. The tandoori chicken tasted good but it was very dry. The portion was plentiful, however. The garlic naan was kind of hard and dry but still had lots of garlic flavor. India's Oven is not a place I would visit again for a couple of reasons. First, the food was average at best. The portions were small, dishes with sauce were quite runny, and everything was quite overpriced (new prices written in with a pen). The appetizers were all quite small and gone in a couple of bites because of how small they were. My favorite thing we ordered was the paratha. Overall, not a good experience and I'd rather check out another local eatery before returning here. read more

Very rude and unprofessional. Unfortunately I ordered the wrong item thinking it was something else. Once I received it I asked if I could swap it for the correct item. I was told no, and that I would still be charged for it even though I did not eat it and you clearly could see. They threatened to contact Swansea PD. Highly would never recommend anyone going to that establishment. And it's sad I use to eat there quit often, but after that experience they will never see me again. read more

Silverware/ Serving utensils looked old. The whole setup is old. The food I ordered wasn't appetizing. The vegetable keppra was burnt. The chicken kepora was soggy. The chai tea was only 4 oz! I asked for curry but got tika masala and I said only a little spice and it came out really spicy. They offered me coke to cool down my mouth though. I WAS a regular customer at India's Oven because I liked their Plain Naan & Tandoori Chicken. I usually ordered 10-12 Plain Naan per order. Yesterday evening, I placed an order through Doordash for 10 Plain Naan. I received Garlic Naan cut in fourths and Plain Naan cut in half. All of the Naan was scorched, like it had been sitting in a hot pan. All but 4 of the Naan had the consistency of a cracker. That means it wasn't fresh. I called India's Oven when they opened today. I spoke to a woman who was pleasant. I told her the problem with my order & my disappointment because this shouldn't happen. She gave the phone to a man who yelled at me like he was a maniac. I caught him in several lies. The more he got caught, the louder he yelled. He then told me I would pay for a full order. I told him I absolutely would not. Then, he said I would pay $15 because Plain Naan is $2.95. I told him that Plain Naan is $2.50. Garlic Naan is $2.95. I went on to tell him I absolutely would not because I didn't create this problem. I told him that he seemed to think I was trying to get free food because I have no money. I said, "Sir, money isn't the problem. I have an abundance of money. You got caught & admitted the order was wrong. You just lost a regular, PAYING customer." He proceeded to yell something about, "Don't call us...Doordash." I disconnected the call. The man yelled at me from the time he was given the phone until I introduced him to Mr Click. His abusive stance was an intimidation tactic that was unsuccessful. People tend to get loud & yell when they're wrong. Men, like him, behave in this manner towards women because it's their normal disposition. I was calm & polite the entire time. I'm confident his attitude would've been like that of a kitten if it was a face-to-face encounter. I can teach him how to behave & behave towards women...for a substantial fee. read more

Very kind service. Was busy on a Thursday night but food came out pretty quickly. Mango juice was delicious. Unfortunately, the food was consistently too spicy for my Western palate. The biggest hit was the chicken makhani and naan. Both were excellent. I made a mistake in ordering the samosas as they were very spicy! Next time I will ask the staff for mild recommendations. It did take a long time to get the check and settle the bill after we had finished eating. We will try again. read more

My all time favorite Indian food restaurant. I get cravings for the chili chicken. Very spicy but absolutely amazing. Staff is very nice.

The photo is the remains of an unbelievably watered-down tikka masala, seemingly devoid of cream at all albeit the correct color. Flavorful, but also nearly devoid of *chicken*. The accompanying garlic naan was quite tasty if not over crispy for use with the masala soup. The rice had an amazing smell and was clearly done with care, making the overall situation even weirder. Might have been because we are African Americans but hey what do I know ? Per usual, this place hits the spot. This is comfort food to me, and it's been a trying week to say the least! This time I got chicken curry AND chicken korma. Chicken curry is my go to, but wanted to try something different too. The korma is delicious! Even more flavorful than the curry! All in all a solid place! I may be biased because the owner was so nice to me and patient when I had trouble with his accent. I got the lamb curry, chicken tikka Marsala, tandoori chicken and naan on his recommendation for my mom and me as take out and it was enough for both of us to have two meals and a snack. Lamb is not really my speed but the curry was really nice and the chicken well seasoned. Everything but the naan had a nice little kick to it though the sauce is thin. Rice is great as you'd expect and the naan was a bit on the crunchy side but I prefer it that way. Only thing that was a bit misleading was the tandoori chicken was all dark meat which I didn't expect but hey I can go for a chicken leg. read more

What an utter disappointment. I've lived in several cities with great Indian food, but east of St. Louis is barren. I came to India's Oven on a personal recommendation, and felt good going in, due to the four star Yelp consensus. Now, I feel duped! What can I say? The food tasted decent, with some spice -- which is unusual for a buffet. And the variety was sufficient. That's where the compliments end. First off, the food was all lukewarm -- even the basmati rice!! Second, for the longest time, there was no naan. I mean, how do you have a buffet that's low on naan? It costs nothing, and fills customer bellies, so it's within your best interests to serve it up plentifully. Third, the meatballs are very likely frozen, and simply put into a homemade sauce. Fourth, there's saag ... but no paneer in it. Basically, a mortal sin. Listen, I know you can't judge an Indian place fairly, based strictly on the buffet. They're not putting their best foot forward. But this is the worst Indian buffet I've ever been to, and maybe the most expensive ($11.85 after tax). Definitely bad enough to keep me from placing an actual order. read more

I tried Indian food at least 2 years ago and have been looking for a similar taste sense and I'm sad I was clueless about a place literally down the street from me. it's worth a try and full of flavor and I doubt you'll regret giving this place a chance. My bf and I always love to support small family own businesses around the area and decided to try this place. We had the lamb curry, shrimp sag, and lots of naan! Everything was very good a delicious! One downfall thing is that it's a little overpriced....for the amount you get anyways. There were probably 6 pieces of shrimp in my shrimp sag, they were just average size shrimp for $16. Not like prawns. We will most likely dine here again but not as frequently. Besides being overpriced...they need to work on the interior a little bit. Before this place was an Indian restaurant. It was a Thai restaurant and before that it was Hunan Wok...which my parents had owned 10+ years ago. The interior hasn't really changed every since my parents owned the place. "We will give it another chance", that is what we both said after finally trying this local place out for buffet on a weekday. I have a feeling we were being nice at that moment, it was months ago. I just don't understand the 5-star reviews, but I don't understand how some people vote (or don't vote at all) the way they do either. Maybe you have to order from the menu or carry out to get close to the praise by other reviewers. Maybe we are just spoiled from better more authentic, complete experiences in larger cities (D.C., Maryland, NC, NY) with more Indian cuisine competition. There was nothing inedible, but nothing was good enough on the buffet to draw me back. There was little variety and two flavor notes; bland and fire hot (on the day we went). There were none of the pickles or chutney that you should expect. My poor wife barely had a meal, doesn't eat chicken and doesn't like hot. The naan wasn't even the saving grace that it usually is for her. I was better off with the tandoori chicken (decent taste but dry, even for buffet). I can try to make some excuses for them. It was a Tuesday, it was after 1300, it was still winter. Seriously they fill a niche (small MidWestern town)- but if this is your only Indian cuisine exposure, try some other places before you decide where you stand on it. read more

Omg we've been in IL since Dec 2019 and just found this gem. Hubby ordered the garlic and cheese nan, Dal lamb, veggie samosas, praws sag, chicken pakora and goat pickles. We had it delivered through door dash and EVERYTHING was excellent. We're huge foodies and almost didn't order from the few poor reviews. But I'm super happy that we did. It's my birthday month and this was my best meal so far. I can't post pictures as we've shared everything and it looks a mess lol. If you value your money and taste buds I would highly recommend staying away from this place. Some of the worst Indian food that I have had, and I've some some bad ones before. I ordered a non-vegetarian dinner plate that comes with an appetizer, naan bread, 3 different curries and a desert of Gulab jamun. The 3 curries are one chicken one lamb and one shrimp. The cost of the dish was about $28. With the description and price tag I expected a large filling meal. What I got was instead small portions of watered down curry with barely any of the meats. For the desert we were given rice pudding which was not what it said on the menu. We let them know and they have us the correct one which was the gulab jamun. They only served one tiny gulab jamun that's was still cold on the inside and did not taste fresh. read more

My wife was really in the mood for Indian, so we decided to try and give India's Oven a shot for our Saturday Date Night. I ordered, and the gentleman stated it would be ready and waiting in 20 minutes. So, I hurriedly scampered on. Yike's...! When I arrived.. there was no reception. A young lad was playing a video game in the corner, and didn't seem to want to be bothered. I waited approximately 5 minutes, then walked back to the kitchen for service. They didn't have my order quite ready to decided to pay to save time. When the young lady rang it up. It was appreciably more than what was advertised on their website. Including the 10% discount they had stated for to go orders. She was adamant that the higher price was what I should pay. And, it wasn't her fault that they had not updated their website. To try not and ruin my wife's culinary expectations, I begrudgingly paid the higher unadvertised price. Sadly, the higher price was not going to be my only disappointment of the evening. My wife's Chicken Sag... was pretty Sag-less and devoid of many critical spices, including Spinach. I don't know what the singular of Lamb is. But, that's how many pieces I received in my Lamb Curry. Repeating that sad statement, I'd like to echo my previous statement about the lack of spices. To tell you the truth, I wish I could end on a more positive note, to which I'll try... So here it is... the Garlic Naan was warm, but completely lacking even the mere hint of Garlic. I would seriously recommend going elsewhere for carry out. Never going back to this place. If you are mixing your regular chicken gravy with rice and calling it biriyani, then you are cheating people. This is not authentic biriyani. I rarely eat Indian cuisine - not because I don't enjoy it but because I'm not familiar with most dishes and haven't taken the time to do so. I decided to give it a shot and it was worth every penny. My boyfriend and I were the only guests at the restaurant at 8pm but there were several people who'd come in for take out orders. Our waiter was very attentive, he'd stand at the back of the dining area watching us and quickly come over if we needed refills, etc. I ordered the lamb tikka masala and it was delicious. All the right flavors, not too spicy but had a good kick. The only down side was that it didn't have much lamb but I guess that's common. My boyfriend had a chicken dish that had much more meat in it. I ate the masala on top of rice and with garlic nan on the side. I'm a huge bread lover and I didn't even bother eating the bread with the masala because it was so good just by itself. Our waiter recommended mango drinks for our dinner and I was pleasantly surprised. It's a thicker juice, I was caught off guard and wasn't sure if I'd like it but I ended up finishing it all. It tastes like real fruit and if sugar is added, it definitely isn't a lot. This was the first time in about 5 years that I've had Indian food and I'm already wanting to go back to try the very popular lunch buffet! read more
