The "School" horses are the most well cared for School horses I have ever encountered, they are far from over worked most don't work more than 1 lesson per day and they are definitely not your typical cranky lesson horses. Overall I think that Back Bay Farm is a great place to ride and would recommend that any one should feel comfortable to stop by and see if it would be a good fit for them.

I wanted a straight-forward, well-kept, non-commercial farm, and you not only get that with Sugar Ridge, but I have also found a family with these ladies and the horses there. The grounds are gorgeous, with plenty of room to ride and options to suit each skillset. It's been amazing to learn more about these gorgeous animals, and it does a world of good just being around them. You can also tell how well-taken care of the horses are just by how affectionate they are with Carin; she does an absolutely incredible job with them and it shows. She is also an amazing instructor, and I couldn't imagine being taught by anyone else. (Nor would I want to!) I highly recommend Sugar Ridge, whether you've never been on a horse or have a lifetime of experience, Carin's training ability and versatility is unparalleled.

I appreciate that most other dog owners here are chill and that despite all the signs saying not to swim in the pond, the dogs are jumping in there all the time and the park rangers aren't hardcore about enforcement. In the summer, it's important to have a few places you can take your dog where they can still be active but keep cool. And Sheepfold and the surrounding Fells trails is a great place to explore off-leash with your (well-behaved) dogs. Reason I can't give it 5 stars is lack of facilities. No trash cans once past the parking lot. No port-a-potties or bathrooms. No fresh drinking water for dogs or humans. Lack of shade and seating areas in the main part Sheepfold - all there exists is one rickety picnic table under a tree where everyone huddles under when the sun is intense. I would gladly give a recurring monthly donation to the Fells Reservation to have these amenities added!

Great dog park that's not too far from the city. When we showed up right on time we were told we would only get one hour with no refund. That alone should have been enough to leave but we had been looking forward to it and took the hour. Getting the boats was an awkward and uncomfortable process. The guy working was watching a show on his phone and very clearly made us aware that we were annoying him. He hardly acknowledged us and carried his show with him while he walked around. Absolute jerk behavior. He passed us off to a nice young woman who got us in the water. Once you're out in your boat things are great as you're not interacting with any staff. With our limited time we only went out about 300 feet and turned around. We were hanging out paddling within 50 feet of the dock for our last 15 minutes when the guy that we initially worked with started CONTINUOUSLY blaring an air horn for the better part of 15 minutes. We paddled in with time to spare. This is the part that made me furious: I was walking to rack my oar when the guy watching his show came up to me and blew his air horn while a foot away from me. I have no idea why he did this but it blew my ears out and caused me to drop the oar I was carrying. He literally looked at me and pretended nothing happened and walked away to keep blaring the horn. Absolutely unhinged behavior - we paid in advance and we're nothing but smiles I have no idea why he treated us this way. I hope management sees this and realizes they have a major problem somewhere in their employees that should be figured out before the new season. You've got some weirdo working there who clearly knows he has no supervision.
