Excellent place for children with autism or special needs. Horses were docile and sweet. Plenty of space for both indoor and outdoor riding. They should not a themselves as a riding lesson barn. There are no qualified instructors which is A)disrespectful to people who want to learn how to ride B) wasting people's money C) extremely misleading because I do think it's a therapeutic barn, which means the horses are dull, and that's fine, but if you want to offer riding lessons you need proper school horses. The barn is run by teenagers who are nice but again not professional. The owner is nice but the most chaotic human being and super bad a scheduling. You will be often times wait 30 mins to an hour beyond your appointed time. The trail is super ugly, not even worth calling a trail ride and they up charge you a ton for it. If you love horses and value your time you will take your money elsewhere. read more

We took our 15yr old twins (on spectrum) on an hour trail ride and it could not have been better. Amy is friendly and professional. She asked lots of questions of each to determine which horse is best suited for each ones needs. All the staff (even the youth) are knowledgeable, friendly, professional and were taking safety seriously. On our journey were saw 4 deer just chilling, no fear like hey horse you're cool. All the barns were clean, fresh water etc. very well kept. All the animals looked and acted happy and healthy. We all can't wait to go back! read more

I went in for a morning trail ride that I'd reserved, and arrived on time. Upon arrival there was no one to meet us and no clear direction for where to go. The trail guide finally showed up 45 minutes late, so we were already off to a somewhat rough start. Still, everyone working there was pretty nice, so I held out hope. The horses were nice, and our guide was sweet (although she was maybe 13 or 14 years old, which didn't feel very professional). But the trails had trash strewn over them, along with obscene graffiti everywhere, which kinda detracts from the whole point of a relaxing ride through the woods/nature... Finally, at the end of the ride, it was time to pay. I'd seen in advance that their website said $60/person for an hour, and that they only accepted cash, so I brought the exact total amount with me. But then the guide said that they'd raised their prices to $70/person and hadn't updated the website yet. So I drove to the nearest ATM and withdrew more money for them. Looking back, I should've refused to pay extra, and just paid the advertised price instead (or even asked for my money back), especially after such a late start and a disappointing experience. So sad this turned out the way it did. read more

Just had another amazing trail ride at Blazing Saddles. I went out with Kelsey today such a great instructor, she constantly checks on you to make sure you and your horse are doing ok. Gives clear helpful instructions and brings your around some amazing trails in the Blue hill. Amy the owner is great. She showed me around her newly constructed equestion arena and new stables. I cant wait for it to be completed and get some indoor riding lessons. read more

Had a great ride on the one hour trail for my Birthday. My sister and I both know how to ride having grown up with horses, so we were delighted that they let us really ride( trotting and cantering) through the beautiful trails. It was a blast and such a wonderful experience. I only wish I lived closer to go more often! Roberta was a fantastic guide and so much like my 4H teachers as a kid. Really enjoyed my visit here. I had never rode a horse before and it was on my bucket list. Affordable and fun and right outside the city. Our tour guide Amy I think was her name was super nice and patient and was able to tell me a lot about horses. I found this to be such a great time and really relaxing. Can't wait to get back. I was going to volunteer here to help take care of the horses. It's a nice farm, quite well-kept. (for a farm of course lol) It was my first day, and I didn't know how to take care of horses. I was hoping they would teach me. There was a nice blond girl who was older than all the other volunteers, around 19 or 20 I think. She was quite nice, and she showed me around the farm. She gave me the ropes to guide a horse to bring him to the stable, and I have some confidence issues so I was having trouble putting my foot down and not let him walk all over me. She just took the rope which is alright, but I was trying to learn. While she put him in his stall, she introduced me to another girl who was nice I guess. All these other people starting coming in, and some of them didn't even acknowledge me. The older blond girl even offered me coffee/something from Dunkin Donuts, but I politely declined since I didn't want to take her money. She was really sweet. She left to go to Dunkin' Donuts and everyone basically just made me sit there while they were talking and laughing. I tried to appropriately bump into their conversation but they just shut me out. I felt absolutely terrible. One of the male volunteers was vaping in the barn. (think he was 18) She came back and still the same thing. Me being ignored and not knowing what to do. Finally another girl offered for me to help brush a horse for a event. Me, her, and the dude who vaped was doing it and they were talking and laughing and I appropriately tried to made conversation. Of course, shutted me out. The girl was a bit rude anyways. Then, they left to go upstairs and just left me there for a whole hour without a job. I eventually called my mom since I was sitting there for a long time. (I'm underage so I can't have my own car yet.) just sat there, and literally didn't have a job to do. Thanks to the sweet blond girl though. You made my experience way better. My mom called the lady who owned the place about me sitting in the barn for an hour, and she never returned our call. If you are looking to volunteer here, (I know equestrian centers/lessons are expensive) do NOT go here. You will most likely be ignored and have no job to do. I do not recommend it. read more

This was hands-down my best EXPERIENCE riding ever!!! I've ridden horses maybe three times before. Usually the horses are not that tamed or I am never allowed to trot. I trotted quite a few times here and the horses were just amazing. They were so well-behaved and beautiful! The area we rode in was peaceful and we actually rode for the WHOLE hour we paid for, not like my previous experiences in other areas. Amy is a sweetheart and so is the wonderful woman we rode with (I can't believe I forgot her name). I drove in to Boston for a day trip from NYC with my sister and everyone was just amazing! I think I will be finding more excuses to be visiting both Boston and Blazing Saddles ;) read more

My friend and I took our kids (ages 14, 9, and 6) today for a trail ride. I went out on the trail ride with the older kids and my friend stayed behind with my 6 year old at the farm and he did the $5 pony ride. My friend said that it was a lengthy ride around the farm and he loved it. Really cute little pony named Stanley. The trail ride I did with the older kids was great. We did the half hour for $35 each. It was a scenic, peaceful ride through the Blue Hills trails. I did not see any trash or any graffiti as another poster said she saw. The horses were very well trained, gentle and obviously well cared for. The horses mostly walked and we did a little trot with them a couple of times. Our guide was very knowledgable and friendly. This was the kids' first time horseback riding and was a great experience. We would definitely go back! read more

I would give this place a five because it was really unexpected. It was a hidden jewel. I didn't know you could take kids on pony rides so close to the city. The staff was very friendly and informative. I learned that Arabian horse are pure breed and feisty, I learned that one particular breed of horse was literally called a midget. I learned there is a fine line between breaking a horse in and completely breaking a horse of above all you must keep their trust in order for them to allow you to train them. I saw some very beautiful healthy horses, even saw a horse name cutie who well kept by a little lady who was doing a great job. Funny moment was when this big majestic white horse came my way, she smooth not aggressive but above all things she wanted hay. Feeding horses is not my area of expertise but I tossed some hay her way and my little cousin fed her directly she wasn't shy or scared, and I learned from her that day and I was proud of her. read more

I've not written a review on Blazing Saddles before, even though I've been here a few times. Tried a different place today, and realized I'm a Blazing Saddles fan all the way. The ride is lovely, and varied. To get to the Blue Hills from Blazing Saddles, you do have to pass over 128 on a horses-only bridge, but it's interesting. Then, you're in some beautiful terrain. You ride through the woods, up and around an open area, and back through the woods some more. Amy is great. She does seem to get a bit distracted when you talk to her on the phone, but that's who she is. I've arranged a few birthday parties through her, and even though it sounds like she's not fully listening to you when you talk to her, everything is great when you get there. The helpers are all great too. They match you to your horse quite well, and they all work together to ensure your ride is fun. Even the ladies who just seem to be hanging around at the end are all personable and helpful in getting you and the kids off your horse. The ladies who help on the ride itself offer the right amount of help, and chat with any of the kids who seem nervous. They are clearly interested in ensuring you enjoy your ride. All in all, I'm a big fan of Blazing Saddles, and will be back there this Fall once the leaves start changing color. read more

I am conflicted with this review. I have been to this place twice. The first visit was very nice. A volunteer came up to myself and my young daughter and let us have her bag of carrots for the horses. This place is under construction which is why (i am hoping) some horses are in such small outside spaces. Some of the horses needed water but again, I am hopeful that was on the to do list. I left feeling pleasantly surprised and happy for the local gem where my daughter could interact slightly with the horses. I went for a second visit today. Construction has trickled much closer to where some of the horses are located. They seemed fine with it! This time I brought our own carrots and began saying hi to the horses. An older woman, who I assumed was the owner, came up to us and in not so many words said, "Do you see what is going on here? You should leave!"I was taken aback by her shortness. I totally get her perspective; we could be a liability. But, she presented no smile. No kind words. Just a nasty tone paired with a not so nice way to say today isn't a good day. Then she for some reason changed her mind and said "You can feed these horses and the 3 over there. Then leave." I said, "ok". We started to the approved stalls and then she came back over to us, as if we had done something wrong and said, "It is time for you to go". Again, I understood why she may have not wanted us here today but how you speak to people (tone and word choice) makes all the difference. I had been hoping to take my daughter some day to go riding. My mother rides too. Now, I just don't know if I will return. Disappointment. read more

Great place! My niece and I went on a trail ride the same day we called. They took us on a beautiful shady trail with one teenaged guide ahead of us and another behind. Prices very reasonable. Got the real farm experience with chickens and goats in addition to the horses. We will definitely be back! read more

This farm was the most unpleasant experience ever. We went there for a kids b-day party and upon arrival it seemed as if we had gone to the wrong place. There was nothing that said "party". The staff was extremely rude, they didn't want anything to do with the guest and kept answering "The owner is not here". We waited over an hour because they were understaffed and they acted as if it was our fault. The place is run very poorly and It is very dirty. I would never go back! read more

I took my kids age 7 and 9 for their first horseback riding experience and we had a BLAST! The trail riders were very good with kids and respectful of their lack of experience. We even got to trot a short distance which they loved!! Horses were in good condition and we all got gentle animals. Don't drive any further, Blazing Saddles is basically 2 miles off the highway in Raldolph and I would highly recommend them. read more

Went here when I was younger and didn't understand the importance of safety. They let me ride in sandles all the time I'm lucky my foot never got stepped on. Once my trail guide got lost on the trails we eventually found our way. My mom eventually made me change barns because they never gave me the full lesson that we paid for they always cut them short read more

When I went I signed up for an hour and payed for the hour. When I got there they did not think I had made a reservation (which I had) and that I had just shown up. The service was horrible. Rude and rushed barely teaching me how to ride and never asking if I was okay or had questions. They decided for us to only go half hour and we barley did that long. We asked for no leads and all the employees there went with us which felt like we weren't trusted at all. The barns were far from clean but the horses were stunning. 0 Stars if it would allow me. Let me start by saying that this is my first ever review of a business, thats how bad this one is. I contacted Amy ( the owner ) a month ago to set up a Pony Party for my 5 year old daughter. Amy at first was very excited and all about the party, we spoke a few times after and she assured that there would be no problems. Each time I called though, she said she was in the barn and would call me back in an hour to get all the details. A week prior to the event, I spoke to Amy to try to get everything finalized. Again she promised she would call me in an hour. After calling her repeatedly the following day she would not take my calls. She would send me to voicemail after 2 rings on her cellphone. Needless to say my daughter did not have a pony for her party.Not sure how she keeps a business running if she can't follow through with a customer that is willing to pay her for her services. The sheer disrespect for her customers is evident in the way she treats them. STAY AWAY FROM THIS BUSINESS AT ALL COSTS!! read more

I cannot speak for this establishment in terms of their horseback riding lessons, but my daughter attended a birthday party there recently and it was terrible. First off, the "party space" is in the middle of their active driveway, which was a concern since there were about 30 kids under the age of 10 running around. Secondly, and this part STILL blows my mind when I think about it...THEY HAVE NO RESTROOMS. They bill themselves as a party destination, but they have no restrooms for their guests. We were told that there is a Dunkin Donuts nearby that we could use instead. Are you serious? Thirdly, the bouncy house was not tethered to the ground, which is unsafe, and it was not properly inflated so that when the kids ran to one side at the same time, it actually started collapsing in on itself. It was scary. I live fairly close to this establishment and I was hoping to love it because my daughter has expressed an interest in taking riding lessons, but I will never go back there. The one positive thing was the kids did love their turns being walked around on the horses and the teenagers giving those rides seemed nice. Other than that, this was a definite disappointment...and not to mention probably a total violation of health and safety codes. I will be checking in with the town's Board of Health on that. read more
