I've switched up feed and medications and they always make sure that my horses are getting whatever is best for them. They're opening and welcoming to everyone, and the people who board here are all super nice. The barn culture is overwhelmingly friendly and everyone is always offering a helping hand. The horses are top priority, I've never even thought about moving my two anywhere else. Even as a young person, I don't think anything here is outdated or could be done in a updated manner, I spend hours at a time at the barn and I've never thought that the barn owners should change their ways - as I mentioned before the horses come first and they are all wonderfully cared for and loved. In addition there is a nice riding ring and a round pen on the property along with hours and hours worth of trails around the barn for trail riding. Some boarders complain of vet fees, though personally I've not had any sort of issues with the welfare of my animals. Maybe the reason other boarders have thousands of vet fees doesn't rest with the barn owners but their own ability to care for their horse. Also, there is no one here named Gary.

She had been horseback riding as a kid and really wanted to relive that experience with me. I on the other hand had never been on a horse before. I didn't want to tell her that I was feeling nervous or that I had some concerns about getting on a horse. But I did tell the lady who owns the farm privately and she helped me get comfortable. She helped select the horses from my wife and I, and although my wife had experienced as a child, the owner stated our older bodies are much different now and she picked a nice gentle horse for my wife and I. She took extra time to show me how to properly sit on the horse, keep my feet in the stirrups and hold onto the reins. In talking with friends they explained at most farms you normally get led by a human being around the circle a couple of times and that's horseback riding. At Spring Tide Farm they took us out and we rode the horses! The owner was a patient woman who was so kind to her animals as well as us humans. She explained she's been doing this for 50 years and the horses are like her children. She explained that her love for horses, not only extends to her horses, but those that she boards. The time seem to fly by, my wife and I had a great experience together. Time for the next thing on our list.

I have always learned a lot from Robin and have found her to be direct and disciplined while being caring and compassionate. As for the barn; it is well kept and I always have fun and feel comfortable with fellow riders and the barn staff. Robin also has the nicest dogs they are so really fun to play with. Overall I think that Back Bay Farm is a great place to ride and would recommend that any one should feel comfortable to stop by and see if it would be a good fit for them.

Everyone gets individual, specialized care as needed. The "School" horses are the most well cared for School horses I have ever encountered, they are far from over worked most don't work more than 1 lesson per day and they are definitely not your typical cranky lesson horses. Each School horse has their own saddle, most being top of the line dressage saddles. Whether you are looking for lessons, boarding or work I can't recommend Winthrop Farm enough!

This is the second year I had a pony party for my daughter here. This year I was freaking out a…read morelittle because the weather wasn't looking like it would hold out and you know how difficult it is to rescedule anything but they reassured me that they have a large indoor arena and all of the party could be held there including the petting areas. (Thankfully the weather did hold out) First of all it is a PRIVATE party so I was happy that I wasn't sharing the "Barnyard Experience" with everyone on this side of Mass. Although there is a time limit I did not feel rushed with everything. The staff make you feel like you are part of the family. They go out of their way to make you feel at ease and keep the party flowing. The animals are all gentle and sweet, they even let my little girl pick the pony or horse she wanted! The staff are actually very friendly and have alot of patience with the kids. They have a craft table I strongly suggest to everyone, it kept the kids busy while others were waiting to ride. Hopefully I can convince my daughter to have it there again next year it was great!!

When we arrived, our contact person said that she was not able to come give the lesson. We were very upset by the inconvenience, but decided to reschedule anyway. However, before we were able to show up for our first lesson, we got an email saying they had gone out of business. It has been a couple of months now and I still have not received my refund.
