Everyone gets individual, specialized care as needed. The "School" horses are the most well cared for School horses I have ever encountered, they are far from over worked most don't work more than 1 lesson per day and they are definitely not your typical cranky lesson horses. Each School horse has their own saddle, most being top of the line dressage saddles. Whether you are looking for lessons, boarding or work I can't recommend Winthrop Farm enough!

They abruptly closed their doors on March…read more18, 2020 and forbid us access to our own horse which was a blatant violation of their own Boarding Agreement. They claimed they were doing what the Governor mandated. No! He specifically stated that businesses in the care and keeping of animals could remain open as essential businesses. They refused to allow us to go into the barn to even see or care for our own horse. Our Boarding Agreement stated that there were specific times for boarders to ride or work their horse yet every time we attempted to ride we were told we couldn't because of lessons or training of their own horses. The agreement also stated that there would be daily turnout but that would only happen for 30 mins and some days not at all unless specifically asked to do it. They were routinely offering unsolicited advice and criticism. We removed our horse from this barn and he is much happier now.

Another words they have milestones to work towards and when you qualify you move up to more advanced work. I find that very exciting, it's a great way to see how you are advancing. Other benefits are the borders and other students there so nice and helpful it's ridiculous! One of the owners Chris can be seen strolling around taking care of duties and has on more than one occasion answered my newbie questions. The other owner Larry is there too, I just haven't had the chance to bug him about anything LOL. As for the barn; it is well kept and I always have fun and feel comfortable with fellow riders and the barn staff. Robin also has the nicest dogs they are so really fun to play with. Overall I think that Back Bay Farm is a great place to ride and would recommend that any one should feel comfortable to stop by and see if it would be a good fit for them.

They were incredibly friendly to work with and made the day a huge success... All of the guests were so thrilled that we could have a horse as a part of the ceremony. I can't thank them enough for providing such a unique experience for me and giving me the opportunity to do this.
