They have done an impressive job on the remodel updating it with a bright and clean interior tastefully decorated and well equipped. Two large screen TV's play Bollywood music videos and sporting events. When you enter there is a small kebab shop and takeaway, and you enter through the second set of doors to the dining room. The food is amazing! A dazzling array of choices and some special items. We ordered Karahi Fish, Karahi Methi Gosht, Tarka Daal and a whole tandoori chicken. This was more than enough food for four and we were all very happy to try so many tasty items. First the fish was perfectly prepared and delicately spiced. It had a great texture and wasn't "swimming" in sauce. The lamb curry was ordered spicy and the chef actually came to ask us how spicy we actually wanted it, so we explained EXTRA EXTRA EXTRA hot.. he laughed and asked if we were sure and we said we were. He delivered! It was a spicy inferno without being overpowering. The daal was very nice but the highlight was the Tandoori chicken.. it was the most flavorful one we had tried in a long time and came out perfectly moist and juicy and oozing with flavour, and at 7 quid it was quite a deal as well. We also noted on the menu the chefs special.. a WHOLE LEG OF LAMB! We vowed a night of hedonism and drinking accompanied by a lamb feast. We followed through the following week and we were rewarded for our determination with a stunning piece of culinary magic. The leg of lamb was so tender and flavourful that we decided to make it a monthly ritual.. but be forewarned you have to order it 24 hours in advance.. so think ahead! The Lahore Masala House is a welcome addition to the Kentish Town landscape.. they have great lunch deals and they also stay up late for those leaving the locals or the Forum.

I went here last week with my boyfriend and parents fro a mid-week meal out. The starters were perfectly fine, although they did take quite a time to arrive. This should't be a problem for starter which are mainly just deep fried? However when they did arrive they were tasty enough. We started to notice a problem when after 1.5 hours our main courses still hadn't arrived. On a weekend night this might not have been a problem but at mid-week at 10pm and you still haven't eaten ( we went in at 8.30pm)...it's not great. The main courses eventually came and they were bland. Despite all 4 of us ordering completely different things, every dish looked and tasted identical. One of the dishes was completely in-edible, where a load of bones were offered up as 'chops'. After complaining about this and the waiter arguing that 'this is what chops are sir', he eventually agreed to take them off the bill. (Note to waiter: never try and argue a cut of meat with an irishman!!) After waiting ages for the bill, which they had the cheek to add a 12.5% service charge on to, we eventually left 2.5 hours after we went in and extremely disappointed. I'm not sure if this service charge is usually added, or if they used this as a way of claiming back the meal they'd taken off for us. By the way, we were the only ones in the restaurant! To make matters worse, I woke at 5am with tummy pains and nausea. I had to go to work that day, but spent most of it in the bathroom being sick!! When I got home I found out that my boyfriend and his mother had been exactly the same. Needless to say, we all had the chicken. I imagine the take-away is much the same - STAY AWAY!!!!! THERE ARE SO MANY OTHER NICE GOOD QUALITY INDIAN RESTAURANTS IN THE AREA :(

We walked into a space that felt different from a typical Indian dining experience because of the attention to detail in the décor, lighting, and overall atmosphere. The room had a classic yet lively feel, with a balance between old-world charm and a more upscale restaurant setting that made it feel like a place we could enjoy for both a casual meal or a special occasion. The food is the biggest reason to visit, with a menu that focuses on bold flavors and a mix of traditional dishes and modern interpretations. We ordered a few items and found the Chicken Ruby one of the standout dishes, with tender chicken and a rich, flavorful sauce that had a good balance of spices without becoming overwhelming. The Black Daal is another signature item and is worth trying because of its slow-cooked texture and deep flavor, with a comforting quality that paired well with the naan and other breads from the menu. Beyond the more well-known dishes, Dishoom has a variety of smaller plates that made it easy to try different flavors. The Gunpowder Potatoes and Okra Fries were great options if we wanted something to share, while dishes like lamb chops, biryani, and paneer provided more variety depending on our preferences. The menu had enough options for both people looking for familiar Indian dishes and those wanting to explore something different. The drinks are also an important part of the experience, especially the chai. The restaurant's chai has become one of its most recognizable items and fit well with the café-inspired concept. Having a warm drink alongside the food added to the overall atmosphere and made the meal feel more complete rather than just focused on the main dishes. One thing to keep in mind is that Dishoom can get very busy, especially during peak dinner hours. Reservations are helpful when available, but the restaurant also manages walk-ins with a queue system. If we did have to wait, the complimentary chai while waiting was a nice touch and made the process feel less inconvenient. The Covent Garden location was also in a convenient area for exploring nearby attractions before or after our meal. The team moved through the room with efficiency, and the pacing of the meal kept the experience smooth without feeling rushed. Overall, Dishoom Covent Garden is one of the most memorable Indian dining experiences in London. The combination of flavorful food, unique atmosphere, and thoughtful service makes it stand out from a standard Indian restaurant. Between the signature dishes, café-inspired design, and welcoming environment, it is a place we would recommend adding to a London itinerary, especially for anyone looking to experience Indian cuisine in a different way.
