Best Indian food in the desert! We have been coming here for a few years now. We love everything on the menu though our favorites are the Kitchen Special, Chicken Tikka Kabob, Saag Paneer and of course...Garlic Naan! I'm Indian. Grew up in India. I miss good Indian food. As a kid, my parents used to take us to high end restaurants in famous hotels in Bombay (like the Taj) as a treat on special occasions. The food there was "different"! We called it "posh"! I finally found a restaurant in the US that reminded me of those restaurants in Bombay. This is it! Posh! The flavors were spot on! The naan was soft and tender and well cooked without being burnt. The rice was fluffy and the basmati flavor came through perfectly! The service was impeccable too! We just moved from Beverly Hills and we had a favorite Indian place next to rodeo drive. It's cheaper than this place and I can only imagine to cost of operation is way more in Beverly Hills CA. Everything was absolutely delicious. I had four friends with me and we all ordered something different. The Mangalorean was one of my favorites. I also enjoyed the Malai Kofta. We had a wonderful bottle of Malbec from France. That was perfect for the table. The pistachio dessert cake with the ice cream was fantastic. I cannot wait to come back. This is a new place so close to home I can actually walk there. They have such interesting options on the menu. Most things I have never heard of but it makes for an interesting variety to my diet. I generally get the chicken or shrimp dishes because that is something I enjoy most often. They make t in such unique ways but I have to admit I truly love it. Give them a try. What a great find! My son's gf loves Indian food and Yelp suggested here! Restaurant was easy to find, tucked in a corner of a shopping center. Indian Kitchen is tastefully decorated with several Ganesha's, the Hindu god for happiness and prosperity and of my husband's favorite deities. Service was good, ambiance was wonderful and food was delicious. It was fairly busy so all of our food did not come out of the kitchen at the same time and our serve seemed unclear on what we had received and what was still needed. The tandoori, the mango chutney and both the onion and cheese nan were wonderful! The owner came and checked on us toward the end of our meal and discussed the Ganeshas on display. We'll be back!! Neel's food and wine recommendations were spot on and left us looking forward to our next visit. The mood in the restaurant is inviting, friendly and with no kids' policy (although this may irritate some people) we enjoyed a distraction less meal allowing for easy conversation and complete enjoyment of our dining experience. I dined here last evening. They opened at 5, by 5:20 they were full with people waiting. The establishment is exceptionally clean and sparse. Tastefully modern. Polished cement floors, grey walls, subtle lighting and lovely 60's jazz music playing. I understand why the owner doesn't allow children. He has tried very hard to create more of an adult or date night experience. There are rules- one entree per person or a 15.00 split fee. No children, no cell phones. The owner came to our table, suggested his best dishes (mint chicken and chicken mangolorean) we tried one of each. His demeanor is very professional and efficient as opposed to charming - he doesn't smile but is polite. I was a little surprised when he didn't ask for our spice level preference, but I let it come out the way they prefer to serve it. Both dishes were very tasty with a little heat. Generous portions. We each took half of our chicken dish home. Along with both chicken dishes which you will see pictured we ordered both garlic and cheese naan, mango chutney, a lovely glass of Sauvignon blanc he suggested and a non alcoholic beer. I worked in Asia Pacifist for 10 yrs and I called and asked if they could do Hot Vindaloo as it's meant to be because I read a review from an Indian Gent who warned "food not Spicy/Hot.." They said Yes. I ordered out & requested HOT Spicy please & advised them of above. They were so nice , I wanted to like it, But T lamb vindaloo HOT order only had a small hint of Hot & no after burn(!) They explained "We spice to the level of our Local Area/Market -Indian Wells ( Upper Middle Class "Gwei Lohs") . This is my favorite Indian restaurant in the East Valley. The flavors are very unique. I've never been to India but I've eat at many high quality Indian Restaurants in the USA. Every dish I've had has a different flavor profile than anything I've tasted elsewhere. I appreciate this because it often feels like Indian restaurants are just trying to replicate something moderate. The eggplant is my favorite dish. I've seen some complaints about the owner not accepting kids. This must be why it's always nice and quiet inside, so thank you! I've eat here over five times and never had a bad dish.
