1 Star - Very disappointing experience I had a very bad experience with Indian Oven and would not recommend it. We ordered Paneer Butter Masala, Veg Korma veg Biryani, and Chicken Biryani, and unfortunately, all the dishes were spoiled. The food had a bad smell and taste, and it was clearly not fresh. The paneer butter masala tasted sour, and both the veg korma biryani and chicken biryani were inedible. We had to throw the food away, which was extremely upsetting and a complete waste of money. On top of that, the customer service was terrible. When we contacted them to report the issue, there was no proper apology, no responsibility taken, and no effort to resolve the problem. The staff was rude and dismissive, which made the experience even worse. Food quality and hygiene are basic expectations, especially when ordering Indian food, and Indian Oven failed on both quality and customer service. I strongly suggest others think twice before ordering. read more

My husband and my mother did not like any of the food or the sauces that I picked up today. The portions were large which was the only good thing. I thought the food was just ok except the chicken tika was too dry to eat. Puppy ate it so we didn't have to toss it. All the sauces were not good. He charged us $8 extra for two tiny sauces that I asked for. He did give us some sauces for free though. We were wondering if they have changed ownership because we used to really like the food and the people here but we didn't recognize the two gentleman we saw . Looked and sounded promising...but not a success. We ordered the Lamb Boti Kabob....which was bone dry....inedible, as well as the Chicken Tikka Masala, which had good flavor. he lamb just seemed like it was Old...maybe been cooked before and heated up...could hardly cut it....so we threw it out. We ordered a Mint Lassi...which was very watery....not thick and creamy. Overall...for the $90 we spent on this meal....it should have so much more than what we received. Terrible experience ordering at this restaurant. First off, the flavor overall was lacking and felt really poor quality. Second, the chicken in my dish seemed improperly cooked and spoiled so I only ate one piece before throwing it all away. It seems as if they use spoiled meats in the curry's to avoid throwing food out. The reason I know this is because I woke up in the middle of the night with the worst food poisoning of my life. I didn't love it, but I did have a hearty meal there. It is within walking distance of the Hampton Inn where I stayed and I like that. Service was fine. I think my biggest critique is that I'm accustomed to an intense spice level when enjoying Indian food and this place was unable to accommodate that. The chicken tikka and bone-in tandoori was very good!! The customer service was lacking though. I ordered two orders of fried chicken as an appetizer and they came with the outside fried and the inside solid frozen! The waitress took them and brought them back edible and hot. Later, a different waiter knocked over my my iced tea while he was putting down a dish, causing the entire tea to splash all over my pants. The waiter left smiling without a word which I found upsetting. Everything is basically a La carte. Great to share family style. Not cheap, but not overpriced. The only complaints I have are (1) $5 for what amounts to 1oz of mango chutney is a bit much, and (2) horrible airconditioning is unpleasant during the summer. The fans have are too noisy, inconsistent, and definitely inadequate. I prefer to go once the weather is cooler so I'm comfortable. Nice customer service. Although I do wanna add that we were the only customers during that time. The food was great, I was able to finish all the chicken from the chicken butter. My friends wasn't able to finish due to getting full. I'm not sure anout the prices because I don't go as much to an indian cuisine. They also let you choose if you want your food to have low, mild, high amount of spiciness. I did the mild one and it was good for me and not that spicy. The biggest downside a while ago was when I asked for some extra napkin, they only gave us 2 when there's the 3 of us. Total was $162, and it was worth $10 (I'm being generous)!!! No flavor with some food, too spicy to eat with other options. Exceptional authentic Indian cuisine! This was our 1st time visiting this restaurant, even though they were the first Indian restaurant in the Coachella Valley. We ordered the Tandoori Dinner with an appetizer of fresh garlic Naam bread. Everything tasted amazing and plenty of it! And be sure to try the Taj Mahal lager beer! The customer service was outstanding and hostess Bhavna did a great job presenting and explaining the dishes. The dining area was comfortable and welcoming. Nice folks and food. If you're looking for Inexpensive meal and not looking for ambiance, India Oven works well. I would go back. I bumped it to a 4 star raing as this is a go-to place for my In-laws. The big detraction is the facility is a bit tattered. Not uncomfortable, but just worn around the edges. India Oven, why are you so good?! Every time we come out to Palm Springs, we make it a point to have lunch here. It is a small but tastefully decorated place that is serious about their cuisine. The quantity of food was generous (one serving of chaat could have sufficed for two people) and the quality was quite good. Crispy bits were still crispy by the time we got home. We ate there this evening and it was amazingly good. We will be going back again soon. The menu has a lot of items and each dish was prepared to our specs. They will make just about anything mild or medium or spicy. And such a great variety of different naan breads. This is a small mom&pop place and it isn't big so make a reservation to insure you don't have to wait. And also because it is small it is never loud and is easy to have a nice conversation.
