It is quite…read morenew, having opened sometime in 2023 (I think) but judging by its other reviews it has already made quite the impression on those who've found it. Upon taking a quick, curious look online at this place after my first meal, I was surprised to find that this place is not (yet) regarded in discussion about Calgary's finest Indian restaurants, as the meal I'd enjoyed had easily suggested that to me. From my perspective, the name of this business is exactly the service it provides. I did not recognize much of the menu outside of what is normally on an Indian restaurant in North America, aka about 50%. I used Google for a lot of the dishes because I've only ordered online, but other reviews have said that the staff are very friendly and are happy to take any questions. It is consistently amazing, quality food at a reasonable price. The menu is large but doesn't seem to buckle under its size whatsoever, everything I've had had been wicked fresh, implausibly flavourful and impeccably quality. I hope this place finds a lot of success! It is still young but I believe it has the makings of a legend among Calgary restaurants. Take the Passage.

Hers, veggie and sweet (coconut milk). They were both positively decadent. The sauces were rich and smooth, without a hint of the oil breaking. Lamb was tender and succulent, her veggies were a step past al dente, which is fine. Sides - 4/5 We were surprised to see options of rice or naan to attend the dish, so yea each opted for one. The rice was well cooked, sprinkled with saffron and some roasted caraway seeds. The naan was fine, though probably had some excess oils on it making it a notable greasier experience that I think I am used to. Still, delicious way to finish up the sauce. This is a great place we feel luck to have found on a trip and we surely would love to find work in Calgary if only to frequent this place for lunch and their great combos. I don't know if I'd travel the whole 1200 miles just to eat here again, but I would consider it.

It was not ready - but it was 6:20 p.m. so yes, busy time for sure. I waited in the restaurant watching them prepare naan in their tandoor. While I was watching, the worker hooked out a piece of naan, which fell to the floor.... she picked it up off the floor and placed it on the edge of the tandoor, and shortly thereafter, whilst I was still watching, buttered it up and went to place it in aluminum foil.... very, very disappointed to see this happen, but worse, when I mentioned it to another staff member, the worker denied it had happened, even though she saw me standing there watching... This makes me seriously question the overall preparation practices in this establishment.

The easiest way to find it is to look for the Zyka sign around Banff Ave--otherwise, you might end up on a bit of a maze-like journey through the mall. You can easily access it via the stairs or elevator. Inside, the decor is clean, modern, and warm. There are lots of tables in the restaurant, so this is a great choice if you have a large group (although you should make reservations to guarantee seating). If you are lucky enough to score a window table, you get front-row seats to incredible mountain views and great people-watching. Zyka offers a buffet at lunch alongside a large à la carte menu for lunch or dinner. The food was absolutely spectacular. Their butter chicken is easily one of the best I have ever had! The chicken is deeply marinated and served in a rich, thick sauce with a perfectly balanced blend of onion, tomato, yogurt, and masala. If you love a thick curry that clings perfectly to your rice and bread, this is it! The matar paneer was equally hearty and flavorful, boasting another beautifully thick sauce with just the right amount of a spicy kick. But the real showstopper? The garlic naan. Finding excellent naan is rare--it's usually too bland or too dry. Zyka's naan is fresh, delicious, and has the perfect chewy stretch. Our family of five loved the garlic naan so much that we actually purchased eight more orders to go! Pro-Tip for dairy-free/lactose-intolerant diners: You can ask the incredibly friendly staff to leave the butter off the garlic naan. Remarkably, even without the butter, Zyka's garlic naan was still soft, flavorful, and not dry at all. Highly recommended! I am super sad that it is difficult to find an Indian restaurant as good as Zyka in Los Angeles ... and yes, I have been to many Indian restaurants, including in Artesia (AKA "Little India").

I've never tried a dosa before and I'm really glad I waited until coming here. We got a potato dosa which is a crepe shaped bread full of potato and dipping sauces. I would go back for this alone. Then going to all of there tikka!!! The plates came out smoking and all the meat was tender and packed with flavor! The last thing I'll note was the masala dishes!! THE ROG AND JOSH is a must!
