We decided to grab some Indian food on our way to airport from Niagara Falls and decided to ask yelp "best indian restaurant in Buffalo" and the search brought up India Star. Nice, clean and calm place. Overall the food was good but not too impressive. We ordered lamb curry and chicken basmati, and eggplant pakora as appetizer. Eggplant pakoras were 5 star. Very well cooked, not oil absorbed. The rice was OK, not bad but little mushy. Probably 3 stars. Lamb curry was really good. Lamb was properly cooked and soft to bite with no heavy smell. Was lacking some spice kick. So probably 4. Basmati was barely 3. All I can taste was tomato paste and some mushy rice Along with really large chunks of onions. For the food I would only give 3 stars, UT the cleanliness of the place, quick service, complimentary lentil soup and awesome mango lassi upgrades them to 4. But for sure, not the "best indian restaurant in Buffalo". Sorry yelp. read more

Best Indian I have found in Buffalo. Recently moved here from NYC where I had the luxury of trying a plethora of Indian places in my neighborhood to find the best one. So far I have tried 3 Indian places in Buffalo and this one is the best by far. It ties my favorite place in NYC. Very tasty and will definitely return. read more

We have gotten takeout from here multiple times and it has always been amazing! We have tried most if not all indian cuisine offerings in the area and this is definitely our favorite. read more

This place is my favorite Indian restaurant in town ! The woman who always serves us ( I think she owns it ) is so kind and accommodating. Beef vindaloo is my favorite and if you like spicy they can definitely deliver ! Very very good food read more

We had a gift card that needed to get spent so we went. It's easy to miss - nondescript store front on the east side of Delaware in Kenmore. It was practically empty with only one other party when we arrived. The server was attentive but a little awkward and nervous. The chef who brought out the food was personable and friendly. One of our guests hadn't tried Indian cuisine before and he loved it! I'd definitely go back. It's really a hidden gem :) read more

I have never had a bad meal from India Star. The owner is so pleasant and everything is so well done. We love the Chicken Makhani, the Chana Masala, and today we tried some new dishes; chicken chili and the chicken biryani. Really enjoyed everything with our standby order of garlic naan. Nice people, service and great food. read more

My boyfriend and I absolutely LOVE India Star! It's our favorite Indian restaurant in Buffalo. We regularly order the Chicken or Paneer Makhani, but can also recommend the Garlic Naan and Malai Kofta. We've really enjoyed our experiences ordering from India Star, and especially love the friendly service. Thanks so much for sharing your wonderful food with us. read more

My family and I are regulars at India Star. Fabulous food, and everyone is so friendly. The only issue is that you will develop an insatiable appetite for Indian food. read more

I order recently and I was not happy with the customer and very disappointing with the the food

This is probably our favorite restaurant in Buffalo. It's always a good experience coming here, and the staff treat you like family. We've tried many Indian places in Buffalo and this is by far our favorite, and also one of the most affordable. Their buffets are also amazing and a great price. The chicken makhani is our favorite and the garlic naan is a must-have. Perfect restaurant. read more

Amazing Restaurant definitely worth a trip if you want good Indian Food in Buffalo or are visiting Niagara Falls. The Lunch Buffet had a great selection of Veg and Non Veg Dishes. The Food is not spicy and has authentic home made taste. The Chicken dishes, Kadi, Dal, Veg Biryani, Samosa, Kheer were exceptional. Service was great. Loved the restaurant. Food: Super Tasty (4.5/5) Ambience: Good (3/5) Service: Very Good (4/5) Price: Great value for money $$ (Lunch Buffet - $8.99) Likes: Excellent Lunch Buffet Dislikes: None Parking: Plenty on the street Reservation: Not required Kid Friendly: Yes read more

we ordered Chicken Tikka Masala and Lamb Makhani, good food, well cooked and seasoned, but the place smells weird.

Food is fine - we like it. Here's the "But" My order was not complete, something I didn't notice until i got home. Bag was stapled shut so I didn't open while at the India Star premises. So I called to tell them I was short a Garlic Naan order. The person who answered the telephone wasn't sure what to do when I declined to drive back to pick up the ordered Naan. She went into the kitchen to speak to the owner. Upon return she said the owner was too busy to deal with it then but would call me later. I'm still waiting . . . a week later. So be sure to check your order before you leave, even if stapled shut. Update: I have been contacted by the business which apologized for the order error and offered a gift certificate as compensation. Fair enough! read more

Amazing food for a reasonable price. I love the authenticity of the place. The owner is a real sweet heart and treats her regulars like family. I honestly think there's drugs in the food, because I am addicted! read more

My favorite Indian joint in town. Tuesday night buffet is highly recommended. There is surprisingly quite a number of choices in the Buffalo area. I've been to all of them at least once, but keep coming back to Star of India. Some of my favorites include the Chicken Makhani, Alu Gobi but the real star here is the Saag panner. i don't think I've ever had creamier spinach in my life. Truly delicious. Naan and garlic naan are both outstanding as well. I have been here multiple times and will continue to return. Friendly owners with a great selection of delicacies. the decor could use some updating, but the food is where it's at. read more

I ordered take-out on a whim and let me just say this food is AMAZING!! You can't really go wrong with Chicken Tikka Masala... The sauce had a depth of flavor, like it had been simmering for days!! So full and bold... the chicken was tender!! A mist establishment when craving Indian Food! read more

This place has the best foods hands down! Best naans, def. freshly made evertime!!! I live across a popular Indian restaurant but would drive to Star of India to get my Indian foods fixed. Their mater paneer is the best. They have soup and chai for their buffets! Their prices are cheapest in town too. Favorite Indian joint. read more

Star of India is a small mom and pop restaurant. The biggest advance of such places is that there is a certain character in the food and a homely feeling in the service. This place is the real deal, the chicken and lamb taste amazing, but you can't leave this place without trying the vegetarian section. The service is fast, the prices are low and the ambiance is cool. I loved it and I would visit it again on a Tuesday with a gigantic appetite for there special Tuesday dinner buffet. read more

I wandered into this restaurant as I was in the neighborhood and tried out the buffet. I regret my decision. The only good thing was the freshly made Indian bread. The rest of the food was bland and tasteless. The tandoori chicken was poorly marinated and not well grilled. The tablecloth was not only stained but also not cleaned after a previous user. The lady who was managing the counter was in shabby clothes as well. Am hoping they read this and clean their act for their own benefit. read more

If you see the lightning scion on the street, you know its time to go to the Star of India's awesome Buffet!

I love this place. Great food. Owner is very nice. Quiet atmosphere. I've been here time and time again and never been disappointed.

I have been to EVERY Indian place in or around Buffalo, and Star is still my favorite. Garlic naan, chicken pakora, and malai kofta are a must have. read more

This place is always great when we just give in to the Indian buffet urges. The food is always pretty tasty and the people there make us feel at home, actually and their buffet price is pretty good too. If getting fat didn't exist I'd probably just eat there every other night.. read more

The food here is delicious (BEST garlic naan we have ever tasted!!) but what makes it fantastic is the service! We were the only people dining and the waitress/hostess made us feel very comfortable, even offering free lentil soup with our meal, and excellent advice about what to order! The decor is underwhelming, but we won't let that get in the way of enjoying an amazing Indian meal at this great restaurant. We are eager to return! read more

The food here is amazing! Tonight we split an order of butter chicken, which is not on the menu but made fresh for us and Chana masala. The meal started with delicious yellow lentil soup. The service was quick and kind. This is truly a hidden gem in Kenmore for Indian food. I would highly recommend and plan to return here in the near future. read more

The consistently incredible service and food here is what prompted me to download the Yelp app and start writing reviews. The staff at this restaurant remember my face after long periods of time and are always friendly. This is my favorite Indian restaurant, the flavors and service never disappoint! I find myself full and mumbling "that was sooo good" repeatedly when I finish a meal at India Star! Five stars, since I can't give 100! read more

Hands down my favorite Indian place to eat in Buffalo! The server was attentive and very pleasant. I ordered the tandoori dinner with beef curry. Delicious! The naan was perfect as well. The portions are very generous for the price of $14.99. The restaurant was very clean and well kept. I definitely will be coming back with family and friends soon. read more

This place is a sad reminding of what it used to be before they changed ownership. The chicken wasn't fresh and tasted really bad. I won't be coming back. read more

Good food. was visiting Niagara. Was looking for some good Indian food. Liked the service and the quality of food. I am vegetarian and loved the choices they had! read more

so we decided to try an indian place late night and unfortunately stumbled into this establishment. there was one server who looked like he did not want to be there. after going through a grease covered menu we decided to order shrimp 'biryani' which was supposed to be made from basmati rice but apparently its just ordinary rice. the shrimp had a rotten smell and the whole thing was pretty much unedible and frankly dangerously bordering on food poisoning next up was paneer makhni, the sauce was probably made days ago and the paneer had a rubber like texture. most likely store bought and not fried before dumping into a sauce. we did not order any side of naan and it magically showed up on the table and the bill, we were glad it did because it was the only thing remotely edible Oh yeah if you dont tip them, they write their own tips so be extremely careful with credit cards. the whole experience was very unpleasant. read more

Very nice lunch buffet! Clean atmosphere and friendly host. The food was delicious and there was plenty to chose from. You get fresh naan made when you arrive and you can have it plain or with garlic. The music was upbeat and plenty of seating. A decent amount of on street parking considering its on Delaware. I would gladly go again! read more

My girlfriend and I dine here regularly!! Food is always yummy, our favorites are the gobi pakora which, comes with both sweet and spicy chutneys, aloo gobi with rice, and garlic naan. The staff here is absolutely lovely, the woman who I assume owns the place knows us and gives us complementary lentil soup on our visits. Also very yummy and super nice. The prices are super affordable and the place feels authentic. Absolutely recommend to anyone and everyone! read more

Excellent buffet, fresh and delicious. Very courteous staff. There are actually other Indian buffets closer to my house, but the extra 5 minutes down the road is worth it. read more

I've been going here for years, and I'm never disappointed. The buffet on Sunday is fantastic - good quality and consistent. I go every week for the most part and really like knowing what I can expect when I go. If I want something else, I'll order off the menu. The food is delicious and fresh. The chicken makhani is their best dish, in my opinion, and their chai is quite tasty as well - as good or better than some of the chai I got from stalls in India. The service is marvelously warm, friendly, and attentive. They are family owned, and their commitment to their family business is obvious. They always happy to see you - and they are the kinds of people that if you see them out elsewhere they recognize you and say hello. I recommend this place to everyone. read more

Always great food and service, owners are always friendly and happy to see you. I feel like my business is always appreciated and I even received a free small serving of rice pudding with my order this is my new favorite local restaurant read more

They have dinner buffet on Tuesdays, which costs $10.95. I went for buffet. They have self serve chai tea, which I really liked. The food was little bit heavy, they must use lots of oil or butter. Especially, Naan bread was very buttery, which caused me stomach ache later. I am not sure if I want to go back to this place again. Maybe not buffet. read more

Nice selection of items, especially strong on vegetarian (they have a separate tofu menu section in addition to vegetable based dishes) selections. Pretty empty the night we were there, but service and food were both good. We shared a couple tasty appetizers and one entree, and both had dessert. The ice cream was icy and gummy, but the julab gamun was reported as delicious. read more

We were visiting niagara falls on a saturday and there is not even a single indian restaurant which serves A-la-carte for lunch which would satisfy a real indian palate. So we decided to drive 30 minutes to get good indian- 'indian' food. Parking was on street and there is a dunkin donuts shop's parking incase the street parking is full. I was told by the owner of the restaurant that i can park in donuts shop as well. Looked like a old restaurant and the lady took our orders seemed to be the owner of the place and was really nice to us. We ordered veg jalfrezey and malai kofta with rotis. Food was fresh and good. The complimentary rice was undercooked for us but that is okay as US folks dont like the mushy rice. We also got some curd by request. We were heading to philly so packed couple of veg biryanis for dinner. We requested that the biryani be packed tight. We reached home late at night and had it. Awesome biryani with perfect raitha. I also had requested some home made pickles to be packed, which was really good. Would visit again when driving to Niagara. read more

We love this place! They are always so friendly when we go to pick up our food and always call back to the kitchen to make sure it is almost done when we arrive. The food comes in big portions, so we usually split an order and get some apps! Everything we have tried has been delicious! read more
