After looking at the menu we decided to start with samosas. I then ordered the Kadai Chicken. The samosa had a nice pastry shell & was loaded with a great potato & pea filling. I ordered it to go. Everything was well packaged; sealed with plastic wrap, no items missing. I also want to say, although this is my first time trying their food as I have a favorite spot already, I have picked up other deliveries here and the staff is always very kind! You can dine in as well and the ambience is dark and warm with dark woods. As for the food itself, it wasn't my favorite, but nothing was terribly wrong with it either. I found the korma and especially the karahi more thin than I prefer. I like the "sauce" thicker in consistency. Also, the top note of spices was not my favorite ... but taste is subjective and this is just my personal preference. However, they were generous with the chicken! The vegetable biryani was lacking in veggies too. There were a few peas and mostly chunks of cauliflower. It just sort of missed the mark for me. But I wouldn't advise anyone not to go there or anything; the business has been around for quite a while! It just wasn't my personal favorite given my other choices but I wanted to try a new place for Indian food. Prices were pretty much on par with other Indian restaurants in the area.

I ordered my two favorite dishes Chicken Makhani and Palak Paneer with rice and naan for takeout. The makhani was very sweet and not a lot of flavor beyond tomato sauce, and there were only five cubes of chicken. The palak was either over salted or over garlic'd or both, and the paneer while a generous amount was large dense/dry cubes. Overall, left me disappointed. Only remembered an after picture. Takeout are the smaller black plastic, not the larger ones you typically get with Chinese or Thai takeout.

The guy was quite nice who took my order and told me that the chef didnt come that day so they are out of Rice but he could give Naan. Tempted by other reviews I ordered quite a few things. -- Samosa - was good but the chutney was red watery which I never tasted. -- I ordered the kabab roll (chicken) with paratha - The laccha paratha was dripping oil. The oil used had a distinct smell. Never ate it. -- Chicken Tikka masala and matar paneer -- were oddly very cold given that we had to wait good 30 mins for the order to be ready. Never tried it because it didnt look like it was freshly made. Plus it was cold. The naan which came was not a fresh naan but a store bought pita which was smelly pungent. The whole order cost me 40 dollars. Except for samosa nothing else was edible. They didn't print an itemized receipt for the order. The boy who took the order was wearing the same gloves which he came outside to open some door and check on something and went back to get the food ready - not being mindful to change it to maintain hygiene. I will not recommend this place.

Bollywood Bistro - gotta love that name! So catchy!…read more This is one of the Indian restaurants that serves the UB North campus community. It's in the Commons. They are open Monday through Friday only. The usual Indian offerings can be bought à la carte. A couple of weeks ago I bought the butter chicken with rice to take home. I wouldn't say it's the best butter chicken I have tried. But then it is really hard to find Indian restaurants. Can that can make this dish perfectly. It's not an easy dish to prepare, and as require many steps from what I hear. And it does contain nuts. Yes surprising. The service was friendly and fast. You can stay inside the bistro (simple but clean) and eat or take your food to the food court area that serves several restaurants in that area. I think it's a great choice for students and people on the run who need healthy food and like the option of having Indian cuisine. I would definitely come back and try something else from them. Maybe the vegetarian dishes like palak paneer or Chana masala.... now I'm getting hungry again! Sorry, no pictures. Which is really unusual for me because I take pictures of everything and everyone and every place. Lol

Now that I've tried Bollywood Bistro several more times, I have to increase their rating. While I hesitated to give them 5 because the curries are fairly bland (Americanized, watered down), I also have to admit they're much tastier than my 3-star rating (and the average, unfortunately) would suggest. In a city with very little in the way of good Indian cuisine, Bollywood is actually one of the better ones. And it's also by far the best value Indian food in WNY. The portions are probably literally 3 times as large as at most of the competition, and for significantly less money. That sort of generosity deserves a healthy star rating for sure. Also: If you were wondering what sort of person would marry and then mess up Whitney Houston, the obvious answer is that "Bobbywould." In honour of that concept, this place is named Bobbywould Bistro, and Every Little Step you take here is Your Prerogative. If you're thinking of giving it a one or two star rating, Don't Be Cruel. Anyway, if you've been waiting for a decent review of BB, I hope this was a good "New Edition" for you. Now back to the explanation of my 5-star award. They honestly deserve a 4 based on food alone, but they're a family business, with enormous portions, with excellent prices, extremely friendly service (the younger girl, specifically), and the fact they are so woefully underrated and underappreciated in most of these negative reviews and in the star average, mean that they have just about earned that big 5-star rating from me. Now I'll let Eminem take this review away. I thought I had it all figured out I did I thought I was tough enough to eat curry with Kim But I wasn't tough enough to eat 2 curries at once I found myself planted on my knees in the bathroom Which should have been a reason enough for me to get on Yelp and give 1 star How come I couldn't just sh** like normal people Nobody could have seen these runs I have Knowing damn well I'd hit my head on the toilet when I fell To flush the minute that I was done I just felt I'm standing and eatin' curry meant for 30 people by myself I couldn't even see the Tikka Masala when it fell Turned around saw Aishwarya Rai stashin' a heater in her belt Saw the maniacal Punjabi fans rush her and beat her to the ground She just sold 2 million Bollywood films she don't need to go to jail But I'm not about to lose my freedom over no female I need to slow down, tryna get my feet on solid ground So for now Say goodbye, say goodbye to Bollywood Say goodbye, say goodbye to Bollywood Say goodbye, say goodbye to Bollywood Say goodbye, say goodbye to Bollywood
