I'll cut right to the chase: the food cooked up here is excellent. 11/10. I was so impressed with my meal. I guess when I pulled up I didn't know what to expect - it didn't seem busy and is in a kind of unexpected place (Franklin, Wisconsin). But I was committed to my decision to try it and am glad I did. I ordered Shahi Paneer (vegetarian) with a side of plain naan. The paneer came with basmati rice and you can specify your spice level. I went with a medium spice level and it was perfect. The heat was everything I had hoped for in an Indian dish. The vegetarian options on the menu are robust as is usual at Indian restaurants. I ordered my meal to go and did not have to wait long - maybe 10 or 15 minutes for it to be ready. I was able to wait inside at a table near the register. I think it might be a family-run establishment. Everyone who worked here that I encountered was pleasent and helpful. I cannot wait to go back and will be bringing all my friends so we can order a bunch of different apps and mains and share. I think they also have a lunch buffet too. read more

Our family group of ten people ate dinner on a Friday night at the India Palace, arriving at 5 pm. The food was wonderful -- we ate everything but the placemats! -- and, because some of us are hard of hearing, we also appreciated that the restaurant was quiet. I am a bit sad to say I am likely to never order here again. I already decided to never eat inside because when I was at the buffet, a cleaner was mopping the floor with a strong and very toxic smelling pine-sol type cleaner that overwhelmed the dining room. He got closer and closer to our table until I had to ask for him to stop. The guy in charge thought about it for a few seconds...really - he looked at me, our table, the guy mopping and eventually told the guy to stop. Very very disrespectful. I was shocked and should have walked out. Our last takeout was the worst we have had here. It didn't have any sauces. I guess we forgot to ask and you have to ask to get them. It also didn't have the nuts and raisins than come with a Korma I ordered. The containers of rice seemed low - what to save 3-5 cents on a few tablespoons of rice? Except for a couple sticks of carrots the Korma was all mushed up like the packs of instant Indian food you can buy at Big Lots. I have their Korma 10+ times before and the vegetables were identifiable pieces instead of just an orange mush. My friend had the chicken tiki masala and like it. The food is a bit high priced for the quality I can get other places. I have ordered here 20+ times in the past three years and am surprised they never recognize me. So I am moving on. I have already found two substitute Indian buffets, one near and one kinda far that are better (and have spiced Chai), and the closer one has many many more vegetarian dishes than this place - so a win-win. read more

Samosas and garlic naan we're alright. Unremarkable in a good way. Otherwise, there were a few small annoying misgivings almost not worth mentioning but overall a good four. read more

Ordered food for take out 4:41; was to be ready at 5:25....didnt receive until after 6:00pm with no apologies or reason for delay! We ordered take-out from here a few times and then finally decided to come in for a dine-in and it was perfect! The food was perfect on all aspects. We really enjoyed all the dishes we got; they were tasty and perfectly spiced. The server was new but they really tried hard and ended up getting everything correctly. I am not from the area and was staying at the Hampton Inn across the road. I ordered through GrubHub and had the food delivered to the hotel. The dish that I chose was Lamb Vindaloo. When it got here, the food was hot and tasted great. The lamb was tender (a little bit fatty), but was overall good. The spice level was good and appropriate considering I didn't ask for Indian Hot. I would eat here again. My only critique of the dinner was NO SILVERWARE OR NAPKINS. Please, please, please add plastic utensils when people order food for takeout or delivery. read more

Watch your bill. Went for the first time on a slow night with family of 4. On my first scan of the menu I noted that EVERY item is between $15-$18 regardless of the protein, sauce, and style of cooking - we are talking ~100 items. This defies logic and tells me they are making some crazy profit on many items. (As the price-conscious dad I try to order the cheapest item and clean up everyone else's plate.) Food was ok, no alcohol, they forgot an order of Naan - but overall the quality was average for Indian food in Milwaukee. What got me was the bill - which included a 9% sales tax (yes sales tax in a restaurant). I confirmed every item was taxed. So a family of four will run you $88 here, plus their $8 sales tax (tip). I only left a $1 tip since I assume they sneak this tax in for people who are bad tippers. The whole financial experience left me with a bad taste in my mouth. read more

So delicious! I ordered the food for 4:30 and was there a little early. I only had to wait a few minutes for my food. It was phenomenal! I got the chicken korma for me and the chicken tiki masala for my son. We ended up splitting the meals because they were both so good. The spice was mild and it was cooked to perfection. First-timers here this evening and we ordered conservatively: Butter Chicken and samosas. Best Butter Chicken I've ever eaten: bright lively flavors and perfectly roasted chicken, moist and tasty! Samosas are a test I use at all new Indian restaurants: ace those and you know you are in for a great meal. These were perfectly fried, crispy and the filling delicately seasoned. I have dined at this restaurant twice, and I must tell you that this Indian food is spot on! I ordered the lamb Biryani, mild, and it was perfectly spiced. We ordered a TON of stuff for takeout; chicken pakora, chicken 65, chicken tikka masala, butter chicken, chicken vindaloo, full tandoori chicken, chicken biryani, & three garlic naans. We basically ordered everything we wanted to try since there were so many of us! The website wasn't working so I ordered off grubhub. Pick up was easy they asked for the receipt on grubhub and then handed us the order, everything was packed nicely for the 40 min drive back to the girls. The whole car ride smelled SO good our mouths were practically drooling & we joked about pulling over to sneak a taste before getting back to everyone. As soon as we got back there was no time for pictures, everyone started making their plate and digging in. Almost everyone had a different favorite item which worked out on who got what leftovers. My personal favorite was the chicken 65, biryani, & the vindaloo, chicken 65 being number #1. A must try!! read more

Food was bad. Lassi was even worse. Told the waiter to smell it because it smelled like and tasted like rotten eggs. He said it's made with yogurt. I told him the yogurt must be rotten. He didn't exactly understand the word "rotten" but he took it back to the kitchen and we could hear the waiter and the cook arguing. He came back and said " I told them it's bad". That was the end of that. No apology, no refund, no nothing. I'm kind of sorry that I left a tip, but can't stiff the waiter when it's not his fault. Won't be returning nor recommending. read more

A small shop located in a transitional strip mall. Based on the ceiling decor, I'd say this joint was at one time a Chinese place, but has now made the transition to Indian. Walking in on a Saturday at noon, we were greeted by a woman behind the counter and told to sit wherever we liked. We chose a spot by the window and not too close the only other customers. It took seconds to realize there was a buffet and that would be the choice, if for no other reason than to sample their menu. Along with an offering of iceberg and ranch, they had a few Indian spreads and the onion relish/chutney was very dark red and excellent. Very pungent, but mild and with a good tomatoesque flavor. They had onions with peppers and lemon which was also fresh and a good addition to several of the dishes. The pickled something - may have been homemade, but in any case, it was good, but had several chunks I had to remove from the chewing orifice! So yeah... The actual entree food, was all sorta tepid and not hot, the tandoori and samosa were clearly reheated. Yeah, I meant samosa - one served on the buffet line at a time - take one, they brought another one. It was good, but mostly potato with little spice and an old old flavor. Tandoori was chopped thighs and drumsticks and okay. I just don't know what the hell is going on with curries in this part of the world, but again, they were all runny and the Tikka Masala reminded me of tomato soup with some chicken thrown in. I did not think the biryana had much flavor - it was yellow, but lacked that saffron or something. The chana (?) was soupy and thin. The goat curry was flavorful and full of bone in chunks of fatty goat which could have accounted for most of the good texture and flavor. We were brought a hot basket of naan and our water was kept filled while we ate. Our food experience may have been better had we ordered directly off the menu, but I feel like what was offered was probably in-line with their offerings and so, I can't see going back. Try it, you might like it, but, to me, it epitomized the two star definition of 'meh, I've had better'. read more

We recently visited for lunch. First and foremost the food was good. We had 3 different entrees and all of them were good, not great, but good. The reason I choose the low rating was for the service, cleanliness and the tea. When we arrived a little before 1:00 the place was empty but the tables had not been cleaned. We were invited to sit wherever we wanted and unfortunately the booth we wanted still had a dirty dishes on it. We asked if they would mind us sitting there and she said she would clean it. She did not seem very happy about this. While we were waiting we all noticed the very sticky floors. Sticky to the point of being loud as you lifted each step. We ordered 3 entrees and 3 teas. The food arrived and we enjoyed the meal. about half way through eating I asked about our tea. After I finished eating and we still had not been served the tea I went to the counter and let them know we no longer wanted the tea. The server was clearly unhappy about this, and told me that they were still making it. We got the bill and when I went to the counter to pay she gave me the 3 teas in to go cups. Even though I felt extremely unwelcome through out the visit, I thanked her for this. Once we got home and tried the tea it was terrible. Ordered take out from this place, went to pick it up about an hour before close - the food was ready early, it seems a little slow on Tuesdays. I ate at India Palace this week. It has gone downhill for sure. The naan was ok but the two entrees (malai kofta and palak paneer) were downright bad. This is the first time ever I've not brought my leftovers home from an Indian restaurant. The spinach was somehow grainy, the kofta seemed like something you'd get in the frozen section at a store, and the spices in both were just off. I won't be returning unless they start getting a lot of reviews that things have gotten better. read more

Great Indian food and customer service in a clean nice place. watched the owner diffuse an unreasonable customer's anger in a calm and friendly manner that made her leave laughing and happy. Ordered Veggie Pakora and Somosa for starters, Lamb Tikka Masala, Aloo Paneer, mixed spicy veggies, and tandoori chicken with rice and garlic and butter naan. After being a regular patron, we were disappointed by our last visit. First of all they screwed up our order, giving the wrong "heat" level to our dishes. Secondly service was terrible and they weren't even busy. We had to walk up to the register to ask for our beverages and to pay the bill. Lastly, we were charged an automatic "forced" gratuity for a party of 5. That is the reason I despise forced tipping, you have no recourse when they know they're guaranteed a tip. We won't be coming back anymore. In this economy, restaurants need to be more responsive to their patrons before they don't have any patrons left. read more

My mom and I ventured to Franklin to try this Indian Restaurant. We usually go to the one in Brookfield near our home. We were very happy with the lunch buffet. It was not overwhelming but very good. I think the owner makes the food in small batches so it is very tasty. He told me he studied with an Indian chef for 6 months and knows over 60 recipes. I think it is some of the best Indian food that I have had in the Milwaukee area. The owner was very hospitable and we had a very enjoyable experience. We will definitely return. read more
