My brother turned me on to this hidden gem. Sebastian recommended a rib dish that was not on the menu and it was delicious! We started with the Malabar shrimp and it was crazy good. We thought we were spoiled from Ambrosia in Monterey by their delicious food & affordable lunch buffet, until we came here. We had the chef's specials & wow, they were so good. We don't think the naan is cooked in a tandoor oven but it is still very good & seasoned quite well. I tried the garlic & wow, yum! We also got to try a desert which was a fresh chocolate brownie covered in some sweet vanilla cream sauce- it was mouth watering! The portions are quite large & very affordable. I was a little nervous walking in here, it's in a weird location and the outside of the restaurant ins't too inviting. But when you walk in it's kinda cozy and the owners are great people making great food that they grew up with for us. There was a little wait but the place was full and they seem short on help. If you are out for a slow evening and want great food this is the place. The menu is about the right size so you don't feel overwhelmed with too many options. I feel the prices are excellent for the portions given and the food is obviously freshly made and is cooked extremely well. Another nice thing is if you ask for your dish to be "spicy" they will spice it up for you without going over the top or charging extra. The brownie with ice cream was complimentary and a very nice ending. It was delicious. The star that. I take away is a bit of a combination of slow service, hard to get refills, and the wailing songs of ballywood int the background. Only so much screeching one can take. I won't be going back. The food is good, but the prices do not match the quality of food, service, and location. I paid $51 for 2 drinks, 2 apps, and a meal with naan. That is crazy. I am generally biased towards any place that make me pay for my naan. The service is probably the worst part. The staff are very nice, but clearly don't understand front house management. I just discovered this place and was left wondering where it has been all this time that I've been in Augusta. The food was so delicious and they do not skimp on the portions at all! I had the chicken biriyani and it came with vegetables, yogurt salad, and roti/naan. There was so much more chicken that I thought there would be-way more than one person could finish unless they were really hungry. My husband had the lamb korma. I'm not a lamb person but I tried it and it was so tender and soft-the perfect consistency. To wash it all down, try the mango shake. It's not exactly like a mango lassi, but better, no frozen tidbits to get stuck in straws at all. Don't let the surrounding buildings fool you. Or the fact that the place is small bother you. The owner is dedicated to making your dining experience romantic with soft lighting and white table cloths and quick service. So if you're in the area, definitely give this place a try! read more

Thought the couple was very sweet but coming from out of town I felt there could have been a little more to the food for the prices- the somasa appetizer was awesome and the sauce was my favorite but two for $9 was a little pricey-- I was not impressed with the Chole Bhature. Overall if they improve on the presentation and increase the portions (decrease prices) that would be great- We have some pretty great family owned Indian restaurants in our area but this place could be great. This is the most amazing indian food in Georgia that I have ever tasted. Having experimented with indian cuisine a little bit, I can say that there are two ways Indian food gets better tasting. One of them is to increase the oil and the other is to not be a miser with the spices. In this restaurant, you won't get something extremely oily (like many big indian restaurants in Atlanta) and you will get food whose spice is placed to give it the right flavor. The flavor that makes you think about your take home box because you couldn't finish the quantity on the spot and it is 12am and you figure, why not eat some of that great tasting indian food so I can fall asleep happy? Trust me, I'm the sunscreen :-) (borrowed line from a song but trust me, this food is GOOOOOOD - try the specials, they are ideal!). This place is probably one of the worst Indian restaurants in the area due to the slow service and mediocre food. And dinner service is confusing as well. The reviews were definitely correct about the service but the food was quite average. It was not your sort of traditional Indian food you usually get at restaurants. The curry was very watery and they serve it on a bed of rice that didn't really taste like bismati rice. We ordered the Garlic naan and it tasted very dough-y and drenched with olive oil. The service was certainly slow but the owner/waiter was a very nice man and even gave us a complimentary home-made brownie with vanilla ice-cream (strange at an Indian rest but was good). I probably will not return because I prefer the creamier/thicker curry and would like better service for the money. read more

Great indian food! Unique in my opinion. I thought I was going to get a lot of naan and little rice. This is southen indian food, there is less bread and more rice. The rice is also more flavorful since it is cooked with herbs and some veggies. They are also mainly vegetarian but do compromise by having some chicken and lamb dishes. You will wait a long time, you will have to choose from a 'limited' menu which is cooked by 1 of the 2 people who work here. Wonderful food, VERY authentic. As far as I could tell, it's not at all 'dumbed down' for American tastebuds. I had the chicken biryani, and it was very good. The rice was really nicely seasoned, and it came with absolutely great naan. My husband's curry wasn't quite as good, but still really tasty and the chick peas on the side were awesome. The restaurant itself is kind of weird. It's tucked away behind a strip mall, the hours are pretty crazy, and it's just this tiny little room with a TV in the corner playing bollywood movies. My husband and I were the only non-Indians there. As far as I could tell, the only staff were a husband and wife team - she cooks and he handles the dining room. My wife and I dined here this past Friday. We were smart and got there right when it opened and we were still the 4th set of customers. There is only one waiter, the owner, and it took about ten minutes for him to get to our table. We wisely ordered our drinks, appetizers and entree all at the same time. I ordered at plate of Pappadums for the appetizer and we went with the specials of the night, Lamb Vindaloo and also a Vegetarian entree for our meals. The Pappadums were fresh and hot and very large. They came with a coriander chutney that was amazing! Then came the main meals - my Lamb Vindaloo was the best I had ever eaten! The lamb was as tender as could be and the spices were exquisite. It came with equally tasty Saffron rice and a vegetable Thoran with Raiza on the side. My wife had a delicious vegetable Chole with all of the sides mine came with. Side note - both meals came with two Pappadums that weren't listed on the menu. We both ate until we were thouroughly sated. And then he brought us the most decadent of hot fudge brownies, crowned with a scoop of vanilla ice cream! If you have food restrictions, it may not be the place for you, as most of the cooking seems to be done in large batches before the restaurant opens for the evening, but if you can handle that, you will find your tastebuds are rewarded by the wonderful offerings.
