I have requested quotes for different projects over the last year. Johnathan wasn't always…read moreresponsive to my inquiries and follow ups. I finally decided to give his business a try by doing basic lawn maintenance once. The guys showed up, cut only a part of the lawn and then were about to leave before finishing the job properly. The guy cutting the lawn said he was concerned about the new grass even though the grass had been growing for almost 6 weeks by then. Then he recommended I fertilize the lawn to deal with weeds which didnt make sense. Weed killer or over seeding would have been a better solution. After I canceled the service he sends me a bill for higher than his original estimate for weekly service.

Jonathan has done basic landscaping for me, built walkways, built retaining walls/playground platforms, painted my house, repaired my gutters, repaired sidewalks, paved driveways, etc. He can handle or knows someone who can handle any job. His work is top notch, aesthetically pleasing, and his pricing is really competitive. Jonathan stands by his work, he transplanted some trees for me in the past and when one died, he replaced it on his own. Jonathan has also grown into a trusted family friend. When my father was sick with cancer and his furnace gave out, Jonathan drove over at night to fix it and get the heat back on. He does the same for me. It snowed one winter and I needed to get out of my garage for work, Jonathan was there to plow me out! I would highly recommend Jonathan without hesitation for any outdoor landscaping or construction needs

    Gutter Helmet of New Jersey

Back in 2017 when my gutter was clogged, Gutter Helmet stood behind their product. Cleaning and…read morecaulking leaking end caps were all free of charge. However, when I called to schedule the same clogging and leaking issues in October 2023, the first thing they asked was am I the original owner who installed it. I told them I had the original contract, which said it was 100% transferable, but the receptionist told me I must pay the $50 transfer fee. I explained to them it was not needed in 2017, but she said their policy had changed. I went ahead and paid so she could send someone out. What is crazy is Gutter Helmet sent someone (his name is Chad) all the way from Delaware to North Jersey. After showing him my issues, I went inside my house assuming it would take him a while to tackle. All I heard was some ladder rattling in front of my house and 5 minutes later he rang my doorbell and told me I needed a new roof. He did not even bother to check the back of my house where I showed him the clogged gutter. Chad then said, if I need the gutter cleaned I will be billed for another $50 for a technician to come. Caulking the leaking endcaps is not covered and would be a completely separate charge. WTF, so I just paid $50 for someone to tell me what I already know, and he was not going to fix the issue? What a scam!!! What does not make any business sense is Gutter Helmet sent someone from Delaware to North Jersey just to check things out! It should take Chad 5 hours round trip or 300 miles from Delaware, and if his truck gets 18mpg with today's fuel price of $3.50, then it would have cost Gutter Helmet around $60 on gas. If Chad gets paid $20 per hour, then Gutter Helmet wastes at least $160 total. Couldn't they use this money and hire a local technician to address my issue like what they used to? This company is so dumb and stupid. When you don't make any business economic sense, it will just dwindle, wither, and eventually die. Gutter Helmet is no longer reputable, finding ways to scam customers and weasel their way out of original "lifetime guarantee" contract obligations. They just lost all my confidence in them, when I replace my roof why would I use them again? Do yourself a favor, and look for other gutter companies.

I would like to start out by saying I received terrible service from Gutter Helmets by Harry…read moreHelmets but the reality is I received no service from this cheap, unprofessional company. And this was after I paid them almost $3k as a deposit for their service. The only professional in this entire situation was the contractor who initially came out to size up my house and he was the only one who fought to try to get this incompetent company to do the job I hired, signed a contract, and paid the money for them to do. In the beginning they scheduled me for October 28, 2022 to have the gutter helmets put on my roof, on the 27th the equipment team that makes the gutters were supposed to leave said gutters on my property so that the installers can get straight to work on the 28th but that didn't happen because the equipment crew said and I quote "we didn't feel safe leaving the gutters on this property in this neighborhood." Which is ridiculous because my property is gated and I have a driveway that exceeds the length of my house both ways by at least 15 feet. I easily could've housed the equipment. Not only that but they didn't even give me a courtesy call to let me know that they had made this decision on my behalf. Which means I had to call the company to ask them why I never received the gutter equipment I was told to look out for on the day that they told me that they were bringing it. So then the next time I call I asked to speak to the manager who's name is Debborah. Deborah has to be the most thoughtless, inconsistent manager I've ever come into contact with. I would have to call her a few times a day just to get her to call me back to inform me about what's going on . When I finally did get in contact with her she told me that the service would now be done on the 31st. On the 31st the equipment crew came and the installers came but the installers didn't have the correct size ladders for my house. You would think that a company that does roofing would come prepared with the equipment needed but they didn't and then they left and then they told me that Deborah would call me that day to tell me what the next move would be. Apparently they needed a 48 foot ladder and they only had a 40 foot ladders. the installers told me the only 48 foot ladder they had was in Maryland and that they needed to go get it. So that Monday I waited for Deborah to call me she didn't. Tuesday no one called. Wednesday I called around 10 AM and asked to speak to Deborah and she said she would call me right back that day but she did not which prompted me to call again on Thursday morning around the same time She finally called me back only to tell me that they cannot do the job because she doesn't have any 48 foot ladders. I knew for a fact that they had one but it was in another state and I brought that up and then she says "but we need two 48 foot ladders." and at this point I'm confused because I bring to her attention that she just told me she didn't have any but does have one that she didn't want to acknowledge but now she need two to do the job? OK fine, so then my next question is are you guys going to get the 48 foot ladders and she says "no we are not" and this is the part that bothers me because if this is a legitimate business and they claim they do a specific roofing job where they need to get on roofs constantly, don't you think that they would have the equipment and if they didn't have the equipment don't you think they should incase they run into this problem again? Deborah didn't and then says to me that it's gonna cost the company $2300 to buy a 48 foot ladder, mind you my deposit was $2964.33. So my deposit was more than what it would cost for them to have the proper equipment to do my job and they simply weren't willing to buy the equipment to do the job. This is why I feel like this company is cheap. By the end of the conversation Deborah had informed me that they were not capable of doing the job that I hired them to do and the reason was because they didn't have the equipment nor were they gonna spend money to get the equipment. When you think about the fact that this company wouldn't leave the gutters at my house and now they're denying me service because they don't have the equipment. I honestly feel like I'm not sure if this whole ordeal was racially motivated or because my property resides in Newark NJ. and not in one of the more wealthier neighborhoods. I'm pretty sure if my house was in a wealthier neighborhood this would've never happened, they would've been way more professional and accommodating to get the job done or at least "willing to try." Deborah couldn't even refer me to another company nor did she want to. I'm disappointed because how often is it that you pay a company to do a job for you and they find every excuse in the book to hold it up and then eventually cancel your service? I wouldn't recommend this company to anybody they don't even value their paying customers.
