Located near the end of a busy street in Whitefish, Indah Sushi was a good find for out-of-towners looking for some light Asian food. Easy to find street parking as well. My friend and I arrived within an hour of closing time, and the restaurant quickly accommodated us. We each ordered a roll (Thomas the Train and Narwhal) and shared the plum flavored sake (I believe it was called Blossoms of Peace). Our food came out quickly and a beautiful presentation! Both rolls tasted amazing, although I would have to say I didn't taste as much of the goat cheese in the Narwhal roll. The rolls were more unique and I haven't quite had those flavors anywhere else before (and I'm from Los Angeles, with plenty of sushi options!). 5 star service, 4 star ambiance but 3 stars are really for the food. It's trying to be something it's just not. "Agadashi Tofu" (traditionally agadashi dofu) wasn't the delicious broth with tempura tofu we expect in decent Japanese restaurants. It was a bunch of fried tofu cubes (dry) on top of a bed of rice (dry) with lettuce. I'm sure some dishes are good but we didn't find ours particularly tasty. read more

Don't want to play a race card but other people were served before us and they just seemed to want us out of there. Sushi was falling apart. Sake nagiri (salmon on rice) - note that there's wasabi between the rice and salmon in case you don't like it spicy. We enjoyed it. Miso soup - good, however, it was too salty, and it didn't have nori (seaweed). Agedashi tofu - good flavor but it had very little tofu. Hummmm...... The plus? Great food. The minus, poor management and 1 hour wait for food?? I never waited that long before. The food lead to my husband and myself waking up to severe headaches , nausea and stomach issues. :( They had 1 waitress manning pretty much everything. The little girl ,(who looked to be 8 )busing tables, filling glasses with water, setting the tables with plates and and cleaning tables was adorable. Make sure to tip her! Get anything with the enoki mushrooms! The age dashi tofu was very good. I would get a couple of things to share with the table, including some edamame. COVID-19 update.: take out is available, it's easy to order at INDAHsushi.com I received the same wonderful food that I'm used to, ready to take home. This is one of my favorite restaurants ever. Not just in the valley, not just a favorite sushi place. Tiffany and Stacey are smart entrepreneurs that have teamed up to provide the foundation for a great dining experience. They care, and they maintain a great staff who cares about doing good work. The menu features fresh fish as you'd expect. My preference for a vegan, plant based diet is easily accommodated here. Picked this place on a whim because there weren't too many recent pics or reviews and I am SO glad I did!!!! WOW the food was incredible. On a Saturday night they were able to squeeze us in to the 5 person sushi bar and we were taken care of by one of the sushi makers. They were certainly busy as it is a small place and they had a constant wait for tables while we were there but we rarely waited for more than 10 mins for any item of food or drink we ordered. And either way, I would've been happy waiting much longer because of how absolutely incredible every single thing was. You MUST try the Hamachi Crudo as it is the best I've ever had anywhere (and I live in Florida!). The miso soup is top notch, Age Dashi Tofu is different than you may expect but absolutely amazing. We each got two rolls and everything was excellent. Definitely try the "gamble roll" for $2 they'll make one of your rolls a little more spicy and give you a shot of cold sake when you find it. Amazing aromas and flavors. A little pricey but probably worth it. Nice deck seating outside. Who knew strawberry jalapeños and wasabi or citrus infused roe could be so good? The Sunomono salad was a tangy seaweed salad replacement made with cucumbers. The Coconut Curry w rice starter was rich with flavor. We had miso soup loaded with finely chopped veggies, small pieces of tofu, yummy enoki mushrooms AND not too salty. We had a these rolls: Papa Rod (topped with diced melange including jalapeños and strawberries; inside:cashews), Ahi Jewel (pistachios inside), Spicy tuna, and paddlefish (w soft shelled crab with citrus and pear). When you show up to a small restaurant with 5 outside open tables not to mention those inside, an hour from closing, and simply ask to order take out, you would expect the response to be pretty easy. Well not here! In spite of the web site stating take out and clearly having the capacity, you would think a rude response that they are too busy for take out customers to be a bit out of line. I guess those repeat take out customers that actually provide better profitability than those at tables should be discarded because in spite of the open tables they felt a little stressed. All right we are locals and have loved this place in the past. We came for a date night on a Tuesday and put in our name for two at 6:30. We were told a 30 min wait. Over an hour later, we were given a seat at the bar. Literally 20 mins after that, we still hadn't been asked for even our drink order!! At 8:15, I finally asked one of the busy waitstaff running around if anyone was going to help us, and he said, "oh sorry, yeah what would you like?" Ten mins later we got our drinks. The girl next to me said she had waited over an hour for her food. I don't think we'll be coming back anytime soon. Too clueless of waitstaff and hostess. If you're craving sashimi, Indah has some good fresh but limited selections. Miso soup was not your traditional soup. Too salty and what's up with all that sesame seeds? The yakisoba noodles was tasty. Sushi rolls are on the small/petite size but tasty enough. I only rated this place a 3 star because the host (miss "I wear a lot of turquoise") was very rude and the waitress didn't write any of our orders down. Whitefish, MT is a sushi mecca. Just look at the name ("-fish"). You might say, "But Hamburger Yelper, sir, what about Tokyo? I've heard they *invented* sushi." Yeah, in like the 8th century. Save yourself the headache. The food has no flavor. There's a plethora of ingredients, yet the sushi falls flat. Tables that arrived after my table got served first and we both ordered the same amount of food. When we inquired they said it was part of their 'system.' After he served our food he exclaimed it had only been 32 minutes since he put the order in. Upon finishing the meal he just gave us the bill without asking how everything was. This place is pretty on par with other sushi places. It's a little bit outside of the more popular hub of downtown restaurants, but it's a very easy 5 minute walk away. Parking might be a bit of a struggle, so I would definitely make sure that you arrive a little bit earlier in case parking is hard to find. We came in at around 7:30 pm on a weekday and had to wait about 20-30 minutes for a party of 5 people. The prices were pretty reasonable given the area. They had some very unique specialty rolls that were fun to try. Fair warning, they'll place multiple rolls that you order onto one board, so don't be tricked by the portions that come out to other customers while you're waiting for your order. The only reason why I can't give this place a 5-star review is because it does take a good amount of time for the food to come out. The serving staff seemed pretty strained at 8:30-9 pm on a weekday night even though the restaurant was maybe only 60% full. The people who make the sushi are working behind a bar area, so they take their time while talking to the people who are sitting at the bar. read more
