Just here to update my previous review, which was for the previous coffee shop and previous owners. My friend and I head to the Tri Cities a few times a year, she is in Portland and I am in Spokane. So when we meet it is a rare occasion and we like to pack our days doing fun things that give us all the good vibes. Indaba is a local favorite of mine in Spokane and I mean I have been to events, eaten all the toast and picked my favorite coffee drinks over the years. They have some incredible staff and they really embody their motto, "love people, love coffee." The coffee shop is spacious, brightly lit and has some amazing decor. Always loving the plants that they have in this space too! There were people working and gathering and it was so homey. I ordered a vanilla hemp lattee and it was divine. I love that they carry hemp milk for us divas, okayyyyy. I will be back and I am so happy to have a piece of home in Tri-Cities!

Really like the vibe of this place. It is upscale, hip and serves some mean coffee. I have had mixed experiences with some of the smaller coffee shops being a bit bland coffee wise. I am one of those that likes just black coffee and this place is one of the best. I have been a few times and always greeted with a smile and a helpful attitude. I usually go with a doppio or a pour over, with the occasional flat white. I do wish they had more food options...I am not a fan of avocado toast, especially in the early afternoon. So far, i have managed to avoid the rush, but could see with the process this being a challenge timewise.

On my first visit here, the Cafe Miel caught my eye and I never looked at anything else since. It's a latte with honey, vanilla, cinnamon and cardamom. I'd always get it iced with oat milk. Price is definitely on the higher end. But I really appreciate how consistent it always was - no matter who was making it. A must try in the Tri-Cities. I'll miss this spot.

The coffee is great, and part of the reason it's so great is they take their time to do it right. If you're running late for work, this probably isn't a great bet. But if you've got some time to sit down and enjoy some actually good coffee, do it for sure. And let's be honest, I think we all need to sit down and relax a bit more, ya?

Great environment for chatting with friends and working. Tried their Start to Finish of the Tasting Menu and really liked the richness of the beans. Staff here were really helpful and knowledgeable with their drinks and offered recommendations on several options, will come back.

We returned to The Local last week to give them another shot. Their prices were great, the staff were all friendly and helpful, and we barely had to wait for our drinks. The quality of the drinks had improved from the last time we went in, and the decor was impeccable. We will be back. read more

The best coffee in the Tri-Cities. Espresso is well-prepared and milk is made with a perfect microfoam and served at the correct temperature. There are also plenty of milk alternatives for the lactose intolerant or vegan crowd. I enjoy the creative "special" drinks that allow for a sweet treat while still letting the coffee shine through. They are using Victrola Coffee at their shop so you know the roast is always going to be high quality and their whole bean price is affordable. read more

I absolutely LOVE The Local! This place not only has the best coffees and loose leaf teas, it also makes amazing smoothies and baked goods! I fell in love with the drinks & food the very first time that I went in, and then fell in love with the ambiance! What a cozy, lovely, well arranged sitting area they have! This place is LGBTQ friendly, and we hold our local LGBTQ meetups there often, the staff is polite, friendly, helpful when needing help choosing your drink, and keep the place moving along quickly! The cafe is laid back & clean, they have games and outdoor seating, you just can not go wrong with this place at all! Thank you to the staff at The Local for their awesome service! read more

Coffee: Not locally roasted, but delicious - imported from Seattle. I had a Guatemalan pourover. A bit pricey: $2.50, but excellent. A perfect place for conversation (although it was quiet enough to hear everyone else's conversations), reading or deep study. FRUSTRATION! No printed menu giving the prices for the various brewing options... They could use some kind of vacuum press available for refills - this would make them much closer to Portland or Seattle for we who need a good study location on a budget. read more

I was the first car in the drive through about 7:18 this morning-didn't even get acknowledged for about 7 minutes - finally opened the window, took my order, not a good morning or sorry for the wait, then another 8 minutes passed and a "here you go" I had to ask for a straw and not even a thank you or have a nice day- took my first sip and it was Luke warm tried to support local - guess I'll go back to the franchises - ps don't mind waiting 15 minutes if all the other variables were in place read more

Ok people, we have arrived. This is the first coffee house in the Tri-Cities to have really amazing coffee. There's a few other places that do a decent job, for sure. But this is the place where I'd take my coffee snob friends and brag about it later. I've had a pour over and a latte, both done very smooth with rich flavor and no bitterness. The roast is from an Oregon company called Sleepy Monk, the first I've had of theirs, with many more cups to come. They've done a really nice job with the interior too, it feels like a place I can hang out in for quite a while. I've been telling all my friends to give it a try and you should too. read more

Being from Seattle, and having run a coffee shop for years, when I went to the Tri-cities for State XC championships this year I worried about getting "good" coffee. I ran into The Local and had what is one of the best cups of coffee I have had in years. The barista was knowledgeable and very gracious and I was blown away by the coffee! Seriously great cup of espresso. I will actually go out of my way to drink here again. Kudos the the young entrepreneurs running this great spot. read more

Honestly, I've lived all over the country and this is some of the best coffee I've ever had. Their iced coffee is cold brewed and perfect. The latte is made exactly like a latte should. The milk is steamed until the natural sugar Comes out. I'm so incredibly grateful for The Local. We get our beans from home here as well. So Good read more

Tried this place today with my daughter because the reviews have been great. We had a panini, which took awhile at 4pm because they had the press off. I had a hot chocolate to stay of course because we were waiting for our sandwich still..but was served in a to go cup..ok . I guess that was a hint? But the panini was good, but the service was so-so and there were flies everywhere. My daughter decided to try the coffee to go on our way out to see if that made up for the misleading reviews, she said it was very good, but wouldn't convince her to go back. So if your strictly looking for a good coffee it's a good bet, but if you want something more friendly check out Barracuda in Richland instead. read more

Always on the lookout for good espresso pulled by legitimate baristas and connoisseurs, not a bubble headed-bimbo who doesn't understand extraction and coffee. Was just passing thru for the weekend, and luckily The Local was just around the corner from where I was staying! Great latte, friendly and knowledge staff. Will be on my list of favorites when traveling thru this area! read more

This place is great. I love going to a restaurant where people remember you. The atmosphere comes across comfortable And fun without trying too hard like some coffee shops do. Massive props for using local products in your coffee! You can taste the freshness of the beans, and their vanilla extract for their lattes is amazing! Picked the first coffee house near my hotel. Stopped in for a coffee, turn around time was slow, but the staff was very kind. I sure don't mind waiting for a good drink. I asked the owner about missing the open time posted on the website, on social medial, on Google, and on the door...I was told that the hours posted are pretty much just when they *try* to be there. Not a hint of apology for my inconvenience. Just an extremely defiant attitude that gave vibes of it being my fault for expecting them to be open during their own posted hours of operation. Off-putting, but I grabbed a coffee anyway and pulled up my laptop, tried to log in to wifi and appeared to be greeted with a pay site for wifi. I wasn't *about* to have another conversation with a surly owner, so I drank my coffee (again, decent coffee, no complaints there other than the cost) and I left. Stopped by one other time well within hours, met a friend for a quick coffee & chat, uneventful and unmemorable other than, again, a pretty curt and unfriendly interaction with the owner. Tried ONE MORE TIME, yesterday, ordered my seven-dollar coffee which I paid eleven dollars for (more after a tip, which I just do for karma reasons) and had the usual awkward and unpleasant chatter with the owner. Asked about wifi, was told it's free for customers, got the password, but he said "Unless it's down...it was yesterday." I asked if he could check on that. Took my coffee, sat down, opened my laptop, and yes, wifi was up, but no, it had no internet connection. I approached the counter, asked (again) if he could maybe reboot the router, whatever, see if internet would come back online. He told me flat-out that no, he wasn't going to do that, he'd talked to tech support and they hadn't called him back yet. Again...ZERO apology for the inconvenience, just a tone of annoyance that I was even bothering him about it. I'm done. The place looks nice, it's not far from home, and the coffee, while priced way over the competition, is not bad. But good LORD, I cannot with the constant rude, dismissive, entitled behavior of the owner. The exact antithesis of what a neighborhood coffeeshop vibe ought to be. If you visit, good luck to you. Bring your wallet and your willingness to spend too much, and your thickest skin, and be prepared for a hostile grip of attitude from the owner. Maybe some people are into that, I don't know, but I won't be darkening that door again.

I'm giving 2 stars because the coffee was good...I was a huge local fan.. I moved away two years ago and came back for a visit and had to go get my scosso.. to my surprise the local was gone and it was Indaba.. but I had drove all the way to get coffee so I got the egg nog scosso.. but instead with oat milk since I cant have dairy..the barista was so rude and not welcoming, I had a few questions and she answered very short and rude, I've been in the coffee business for many years and would never have treated one of my customers so rudely.. without us she'd be nothing. This place is the best! I drive 20 minutes extra to come get coffee from them. They have the best house made flavors and their pastries are made in house. Such a fun vibe to study or work in. Very excited for phase 2 and to be able to come in and enjoy a cup in house. Also - the most friendly staff ever! They remember your drink and are so genuine and kind. Yummy, yummy VEGETARIAN soup today! Made just for me (and the other vegetarians of RichWick) During the cold dank winter days, I would look lovely soups on the menu board and sigh loudly - and... Today, a wonder Ribollita (think minestrone without the pasta) showed up, served with grated cheese and toasted bread - and love. So very good and filling my body and heart. read more
