Just here to update my previous review, which was for the previous coffee shop and previous owners. My friend and I head to the Tri Cities a few times a year, she is in Portland and I am in Spokane. So when we meet it is a rare occasion and we like to pack our days doing fun things that give us all the good vibes. Indaba is a local favorite of mine in Spokane and I mean I have been to events, eaten all the toast and picked my favorite coffee drinks over the years. They have some incredible staff and they really embody their motto, "love people, love coffee." The coffee shop is spacious, brightly lit and has some amazing decor. Always loving the plants that they have in this space too! There were people working and gathering and it was so homey. I ordered a vanilla hemp lattee and it was divine. I love that they carry hemp milk for us divas, okayyyyy. I will be back and I am so happy to have a piece of home in Tri-Cities!

Really like the vibe of this place. It is upscale, hip and serves some mean coffee. I have had mixed experiences with some of the smaller coffee shops being a bit bland coffee wise. I am one of those that likes just black coffee and this place is one of the best. I have been a few times and always greeted with a smile and a helpful attitude. I usually go with a doppio or a pour over, with the occasional flat white. I do wish they had more food options...I am not a fan of avocado toast, especially in the early afternoon. So far, i have managed to avoid the rush, but could see with the process this being a challenge timewise.

On my first visit here, the Cafe Miel caught my eye and I never looked at anything else since. It's a latte with honey, vanilla, cinnamon and cardamom. I'd always get it iced with oat milk. Price is definitely on the higher end. But I really appreciate how consistent it always was - no matter who was making it. A must try in the Tri-Cities. I'll miss this spot.

The coffee is great, and part of the reason it's so great is they take their time to do it right. If you're running late for work, this probably isn't a great bet. But if you've got some time to sit down and enjoy some actually good coffee, do it for sure. And let's be honest, I think we all need to sit down and relax a bit more, ya?

Great environment for chatting with friends and working. Tried their Start to Finish of the Tasting Menu and really liked the richness of the beans. Staff here were really helpful and knowledgeable with their drinks and offered recommendations on several options, will come back.

Staff are extremely rude!! There menu doesn't show much on it so when I asked them if they make mochas she snidely responded with "that's a given" then we asked for blended snickers and she said they don't do blended drinks and she didnt know what a snickers was. It also took FOREVER to get our coffee after ordering. We won't be returning. read more

I love this coffee shop - everyone from the baristas to the atmosphere. It's a little small and not too many tables so it can get crowded easily. But totally worth just getting the coffee as well. I've never had a green tea latte, much less heard of it. IT WAS DA BOMB. Wasn't expecting the green tea flavor, but it came out a lot in the latte!! Highly recommend it to any green tea lovers out there. read more

Not the typical downtown location you would expect for an amazing third wave coffee shop. Excellent pour over options from Victrola Coffee Roasters in Seattle. Great chill music with a nice amount of bar and table seating with a few couches. Packed the entire time we were there from 10-11 AM on a Tuesday morning. Some impressive food offerings as well for a light breakfast. The Synesso MVP Hydra was a giveaway that these people are doing coffee and espresso right! read more

The service was extremely slow. I waited 10 minutes behind one car only to wait another 10 for the two drinks I ordered. They took so long and STILL didn't get it right. I had to park and go into the coffee shop to correct my order. One of the baristas was cleaning something(she took the order) and pretended i wasn't there- while the other barista looked at me and continued to serve the person at the window- which was fine but a "be right with you"is generally good customer service. The coffee was watered down and had no flavor- which with an americano is very disappointing. This has gone downhill since changing from being the Local. Will NOT be returning and encouraging others to not bother. read more

The energy at The Local is a strangely familiar mix between holidays at your Grandparents house and your second apartment after college. It smells great. Looks great. And above all, feels great. The whole staff is super cool and nice and always are up for conversation. When anyone asks a coffee recommendation in the Tri-Cities I always defer to The Local as the top spot for those expecting quality brew and warm atmosphere. As a barista myself, I was looking for a good place to get a caffeinated pick-me-up while in town. I think the barista there made me the best cortado I've ever had (which hurts a little because I'm including my own creations in that statement). She was very nice and the atmosphere in the shop was really pleasant. Looks like it would be a nice place to hang out and get some work time or to grab something and go! read more

They have super yummy coffee, my fav in town! Seriously has the best flavor. What's holding me back on a 5 star you ask, seriously slow AF! I usually go mid morning, maybe they have less people working at that time which I get and makes sense. I'll be in the area and LOOONG for a coffee from them, and then I'm like how much time do I have???? Hmmm.... Everyone has been super helpful and nice when I have gone in. I do wish they were a bit quicker or, I've asked for this a couple of times, how about an app so you can order ahead. Specifically, Joe Coffee, those boys who wrote the app are from around here. I listened to about 3 songs when I went through the drive through. I was the only car in the drive through. Am I harping just because of today? No been there several times and sooooo slllllooooowwww 9 out of 10 times. Did I mention the coffee is delish, so so so good! And so is the avocado toast! read more

This place totally rocks! I just love it. They have great coffee and one of the few Synesso espresso machines in the Tri-Cities. They actually know how how to make a correct capachino. The customer service is great and so it the coffee! read more

We decided to Yelp some coffee after Waze suggested a drive thru coffee shack, which I'm never a big fan of. Yelp gave The Local something like 4.5 stars and maybe 60 reviews or so which seemed impressive for TriCities. Parking was a breeze, though it was about 6 miles off course from 395 or 195, whichever highway crosses the bridge. Outdoor seating was cute. Walking in, we saw lots of dark wood grain, white ceramic and airy plants. Staff were very friendly (also I called to confirm their hours on Mother's Day and the phone service was lovely too) and expedient. I had the miel latte which tasted like iced coffee eggnog. Mmmm. Eggnog and horchata maybe. Best of both worlds. Boyfriend had the cold brew with grass fed half and half. An elevated experience! The water tasted clean and cold; you might be surprised how often this isn't the case. We loved the soft acoustic music on and the cozy seating clusters. Our area had a sweet midcentury lamp with an amber lightbulb with visible filaments, very Thomas Edison. Overall I can't think of a single reason to hate on this place. I didn't try the restroom but the wifi was fast and had an amusing password. Sweet little spot they have here. I'd def go again. read more

Visiting the area and always on the lookout for good espresso. The local gets pretty good reviews on their coffee so stopped in to taste for myself. On a Saturday morning I would have expected to see more customers at first but it might have been in between rushes. 10ish I believe. One guy behind the counter handling the front and drive through. (Normally I avoid coffee shops with drive throughs). The gentleman was pretty quiet and not much personality. I'm good with that as long as he is good at what he does:) Serving Victrola coffee from Seattle and, they had some whole been Victrola coffee for sale with pretty decent roast dates, so good there. Ordered an 8oz mocha in house. Presentation lovely, good micro foam. Espresso itself was smooth, low on acidity. Notes of hazelnut but more of the skins and not the richness of the nut (if that makes sense)? On the negative side was temp as it was just too hot. Should be drinkable from the start but had to let it cool a bit. Business started to pick up as we were finishing up. Another gentleman came off break and was handling the front. He was much more personable it seemed. I guess they balance each other out. I would be back and give them another go. read more

All drinks are always served to a "tea." Hehe. The baristas are super helpful and so kind. An absolute gorgeous place to either sip alone, enjoy a chat, or work on your laptop. The avocado toast and chocolate chip cookies (both vegan friendly just ask for the toast without butter) taste amazing! Would love some more vegan brunch options but I never leave dissatisfied! read more

This place is really cute and they have a drive thru. It's close to the mall so you can make it your stop otw or after. It's cute inside but limited seated and lacks that cozy feel. Their menu is limited if you like fancy fancy drinks. That being said they DO have flavored syrups (unlike some local resilient coffee shops). They had a cardamom vanilla latte that sounded interesting but I just went for a regular cappuccino. They had milk alternatives which I love- almond, hemp, and soy. I ended up getting an almond milk cappuccino. It was really smooth and none of that bite you might be expecting. Delicious. I will be back. They have a cool rewards program that tracks with your credit card too which makes it way easier than an app. read more

These guys are bringing great coffee to a small town. The beans from Victrola are above average and the brewing methods make it even better. It is hard to find a coffee location that offers Chemex in most cities but yes they do that. Aeropress, pour over and I think their working on getting a Syphon pot. Keep up the great work. Best coffee in town. Knowledgeable and super friendly people. Yeah, it might take a tad bit longer than your Starbucks, but that's because they are pulling that shot right. No sour or bitter espresso over here. My absolute favorite place! Some house-made syrups they incorporate into seasonal drinks, they also have a good variety of alternative milks to choose from. read more

Whoevers at the counter is my favorite barista at The Local, and is always absolutly exceptional! They always answers your questions so in depth, even if they're very basic. The best coffee shop I have been to in the world. This is not an exaggeration. Ever since having the best classic cappuccino I had ever experienced when I was in Italy, I was on the search to repeat that experience. I have tried to find something as good as those Italian cappuccinos in shops all over the US and Europe. I have come close a few times. (Having a flat white at 3fe in Dublin set a new mark for just as good as Italian cappuccino) But when the Local opened several years ago and I walked in and asked the owner, Michael, to make me a flat white, he laughed and said, "I can do that," and since that day I have almost every single day enjoyed the most breathtakingly perfect coffee in the most friendly shop in the Tri-Cities. It simply doesn't get any better. read more

Sitting here right now having a cinnamon honey latte. It's seasonal. Delicious. I would give it 4.5 stars overall if I could because the drink is way too hot. Took 10 minutes to have a drink. Cozy setting and fast service. read more

It's modern, a little edgy, and surprisingly comfortable--like a lounge you'd expect in a bigger city, but without the attitude. The seating is intimate without being cramped, with cozy tables tucked behind decorative partitions that make it feel semi-private without cutting you off from the energy of the room. You can sit back, relax, and either have a quiet conversation or just people-watch while sipping something strong and well-made. And speaking of sipping... the bar doesn't mess around. Cocktails, wine, beer--whatever your mood is, they've got you covered. It's the kind of place where you might plan to have one drink and accidentally stay for three because the atmosphere refuses to let you leave early. Then there's the food, which punches way above "bar snacks." Street tacos that actually taste like they belong on a food truck with a line out the door, turkey cranberry sandwiches that somehow feel both comfort-food and gourmet at the same time--it's the kind of menu that makes you rethink your "I'll just grab a quick drink" strategy. A bigger issue, though, is service and just the basics of running a business. I've visited the new location three times now. The first time, I looked up the hours online, showed up about 10 minutes after opening time and the door was locked, no sign of life inside. I had planned to grab a coffee, open my laptop, and get some work done. I called the number listed, got no answer. Decided to run an errand I didn't really need to run, came back an hour later and they were open. I asked the owner about missing the open time posted on the website, on social medial, on Google, and on the door...I was told that the hours posted are pretty much just when they *try* to be there. Not a hint of apology for my inconvenience. Just an extremely defiant attitude that gave vibes of it being my fault for expecting them to be open during their own posted hours of operation. Off-putting, but I grabbed a coffee anyway and pulled up my laptop, tried to log in to wifi and appeared to be greeted with a pay site for wifi. I wasn't *about* to have another conversation with a surly owner, so I drank my coffee (again, decent coffee, no complaints there other than the cost) and I left. Stopped by one other time well within hours, met a friend for a quick coffee & chat, uneventful and unmemorable other than, again, a pretty curt and unfriendly interaction with the owner. Tried ONE MORE TIME, yesterday, ordered my seven-dollar coffee which I paid eleven dollars for (more after a tip, which I just do for karma reasons) and had the usual awkward and unpleasant chatter with the owner. Asked about wifi, was told it's free for customers, got the password, but he said "Unless it's down...it was yesterday." I asked if he could check on that. Took my coffee, sat down, opened my laptop, and yes, wifi was up, but no, it had no internet connection. I approached the counter, asked (again) if he could maybe reboot the router, whatever, see if internet would come back online. He told me flat-out that no, he wasn't going to do that, he'd talked to tech support and they hadn't called him back yet. Again...ZERO apology for the inconvenience, just a tone of annoyance that I was even bothering him about it. I'm done. The place looks nice, it's not far from home, and the coffee, while priced way over the competition, is not bad. But good LORD, I cannot with the constant rude, dismissive, entitled behavior of the owner. The exact antithesis of what a neighborhood coffeeshop vibe ought to be. If you visit, good luck to you. Bring your wallet and your willingness to spend too much, and your thickest skin, and be prepared for a hostile grip of attitude from the owner. Maybe some people are into that, I don't know, but I won't be darkening that door again.

I'm giving 2 stars because the coffee was good...I was a huge local fan.. I moved away two years ago and came back for a visit and had to go get my scosso.. to my surprise the local was gone and it was Indaba.. but I had drove all the way to get coffee so I got the egg nog scosso.. but instead with oat milk since I cant have dairy..the barista was so rude and not welcoming, I had a few questions and she answered very short and rude, I've been in the coffee business for many years and would never have treated one of my customers so rudely.. without us she'd be nothing. Needless to say I won't be back and neither will the friend I had brought with me. read more

This place is the best! I drive 20 minutes extra to come get coffee from them. They have the best house made flavors and their pastries are made in house. Such a fun vibe to study or work in. Very excited for phase 2 and to be able to come in and enjoy a cup in house. Also - the most friendly staff ever! They remember your drink and are so genuine and kind. Yummy, yummy VEGETARIAN soup today! Made just for me (and the other vegetarians of RichWick) During the cold dank winter days, I would look lovely soups on the menu board and sigh loudly - and... Today, a wonder Ribollita (think minestrone without the pasta) showed up, served with grated cheese and toasted bread - and love. So very good and filling my body and heart. read more
