...I tried *so hard* to like this place. The coffee is pretty good, I'll give them that, but they overcharge for everything in my opinion and what is a $7.75 coffee drink at my favorite Tri-Cities coffee shop cost about $11.00 at Peacock. A bigger issue, though, is service and just the basics of running a business. I've visited the new location three times now. The first time, I looked up the hours online, showed up about 10 minutes after opening time and the door was locked, no sign of life inside. I had planned to grab a coffee, open my laptop, and get some work done. I called the number listed, got no answer. Decided to run an errand I didn't really need to run, came back an hour later and they were open. I asked the owner about missing the open time posted on the website, on social medial, on Google, and on the door...I was told that the hours posted are pretty much just when they *try* to be there. Not a hint of apology for my inconvenience. Just an extremely defiant attitude that gave vibes of it being my fault for expecting them to be open during their own posted hours of operation. Off-putting, but I grabbed a coffee anyway and pulled up my laptop, tried to log in to wifi and appeared to be greeted with a pay site for wifi. I wasn't *about* to have another conversation with a surly owner, so I drank my coffee (again, decent coffee, no complaints there other than the cost) and I left. Stopped by one other time well within hours, met a friend for a quick coffee & chat, uneventful and unmemorable other than, again, a pretty curt and unfriendly interaction with the owner. Tried ONE MORE TIME, yesterday, ordered my seven-dollar coffee which I paid eleven dollars for (more after a tip, which I just do for karma reasons) and had the usual awkward and unpleasant chatter with the owner. Asked about wifi, was told it's free for customers, got the password, but he said "Unless it's down...it was yesterday." I asked if he could check on that. Took my coffee, sat down, opened my laptop, and yes, wifi was up, but no, it had no internet connection. I approached the counter, asked (again) if he could maybe reboot the router, whatever, see if internet would come back online. He told me flat-out that no, he wasn't going to do that, he'd talked to tech support and they hadn't called him back yet. Again...ZERO apology for the inconvenience, just a tone of annoyance that I was even bothering him about it. I'm done. The place looks nice, it's not far from home, and the coffee, while priced way over the competition, is not bad. But good LORD, I cannot with the constant rude, dismissive, entitled behavior of the owner. The exact antithesis of what a neighborhood coffeeshop vibe ought to be. If you visit, good luck to you. Bring your wallet and your willingness to spend too much, and your thickest skin, and be prepared for a hostile grip of attitude from the owner. Let's break this down, shall we? You came into our restaurant (not a free community center), sat down without ordering anything, and expected to use our space for free while planning a wedding. Your photographer, who at least had the business sense to buy a coffee, should have probably also had the awareness to cover for his potential client's drink--because clearly, you were too busy budgeting for wedding photographers to spare a few dollars on a cup of coffee. But here's the thing: no business, whether it's a coffee shop, a restaurant, or even a fast-food joint, exists for the sole purpose of providing free seating to people who don't contribute to its survival. That's not how this works. You don't walk into a movie theater and demand to sit there just because someone else bought a ticket, right? Same principle applies here. And let's be real--you're upset not because we were "rude," but because you got called out for squatting. That bruised ego of yours is doing a lot of the talking in this review. It's clear from your little "editing after owner reply" rant that you've got a burr in your saddle over being asked to respect a business's basic policies. And yet, somehow, we're the bad guys? Signed up for a wine tasting in December paid in November. Tasting was rescheduled without being told. Asked for a refund and said they would do it. Waited until after the holidays to ask again and was told they were sure that it was done I have been there in person and called still waiting for my 50 dollars. I try to support local but this is really making it difficult. Thomas is who I have dealt with and to say he is rude would be an understatement. I visited Peacock mid weekday morning for the first time last week with a friend. Located in the Richland Parkway, Peacock Coffee is a comfortable café with plenty of tables. I ordered mocha on the recommendation of the barista. I don't like a lot of chocolate or sugar in my mochas, but the barista remarked that the cocoa Peacock used was not especially sweet. This turned out to be one of the best mochas I have had in years. My friend reports that the espresso hybrid drink she ordered was very good too. Note: the online ordering menu only shows a subset of all the drinks offered at Peacock. I will definitely return, but be mindful on Parkway parking on Fridays when there is s street market in progress, which blocks off one end of the street and makes getting to Peacock a bit tricky. read more

First time visiting The Peacock today based off of good recommendations from friends and have never felt so unwelcome in an establishment in my life. Upon entering we were not greeted but instead were faced with the manager with an annoyed look on his face. After asking if we could seat ourselves he was short and said yes. My friend then asked to sit at the bar and he asked to see ID which is perfectly fine he looked at them and sat us and started making our drinks and glaring at us over the counter. We were the only customers in there no music just horrible customer service and a bad attitude. In the middle of making my friends drink he slammed his shaker down and said he would not serve us. After asking why he just said he had the right to refuse service to anyone which I agreed with but he doesn't have the right to be a jerk to paying customers. It is so great to have a roaster here locally especially when the roasting machine is right there in the store and you can watch it working. Really good avocado toast and great little snacks to go along with the coffee. I like the change from the normal coffee spots to try something new in coffee. The ambiance is great with a nice seating arrangement that allows to relax and get some work done. Owner knows his stuff and can be seen working his tail off for his guests, but a couple times I didn't order all that I wanted due to the stress he was showing. Over all a solid 4/5. We were there one day when we we were getting ready to leave town for a while and decided to get a bag of his coffee to brew on the trip. When we asked to have the beans ground he STRONGLY recommended not to do that and we needed to buy a grinder to fresh grind the beans right before we brew. He was sooooo right. I have never have written a Yelp review before, but I would echo all of the other 1 star reviews here. The owner, Thomas, was condescending and downright rude to myself and my friends. He will happily "educate" you in a very condescending tone if whatever you order does not align to his own personal preferences of how coffee should be consumed. At least that is what he did for myself and all of my friends. It was honestly the worst customer service experience I have ever had at any coffee shop or restaurant ever, and I left feeling like we had gotten bullied by a petulant insecure child throwing an unnecessary tantrum over why oat milk is supposedly bad for you... even though I am lactose intolerant.
