My husband and I hired Inception to rewire our 1924 home and add some new lights and outlets back in 2020. The worked on our home during March but then finished in August due to some of the city shutdowns. At first, there were some minor issues, such as their new hires trying to avoid installing an outlet for a security camera (it was in the attic so the camera could be outdoors above the main entrance). After everything, we noticed that several mistakes were made, such as the two switches at the front were both connected to the outdoor lights, making the separate functions for the living room light and the outdoor lights pointless. We had to always leave the switches on and then find a light that could work with additional device switches. There was also an issue like this on one of the switches in the kichen, where we don't have separate control over the two different floodlights in the backyard and driveway. Annoying, but we dealt with it because we knew Marco had some new hires during the pandemic and things were just chaotic at the time. I am coming back after 6 years to leave this review because a couple of years ago, we noticed our lights would flicker. It has become worse and is now at the point where we cannot run power tools for working in our garage. We have had to request two second opinions on the electrical work to see what is going on, and both have shown that Marco's rewire was not what we paid for nor was it done well. Some of the electrical wiring was not replaced when we were charged $4500 for replacing all the wiring (we did all the patching on the walls and along with some additional outlets, which saved some money, and the full price was $4800). Marco and the guys he hired also left some of the kitchen wiring in tact that should have been replaced (even though it wasn't knob and tube, it was around 20-30 years old, and I had specifically requested for everything to be new given the poor state of the home from the previous owner who rented it out). The second opinions are certain that most of the wiring they can see in the panel and in the attic are much older than 6 years. We have also identfied the main problem as being with how the rewire was done. Far too many wires were bound together and distributed unevenly into the electrical box. Over several years, the wires are generating too much heat due to the poor techinque of how so many wires were bundled together and run to the same sections of the electrical panel. We are facing another expensive bill of thousands of dollars to make sure our home does not have fire risk and that we can run basic tools and appliances without any issues. The fact that he and his guys did not take a woman homeowner seriously from the start with some of the smaller things should have been enough of a red flag to fire them before they caused the damage they have. My husband mostly worked with them to try to get them to listen to us, but in the end, their work was shoddy and as family, friends, and consultants have explained to us, their sloppy work is the type that won't have issues until late enough that most people won't realize it was their fault. What a scam. And now that I see on other Yelp reviews that Marco sold the company, I wonder why he sold it. If Marco is still out there doing work, I'd avoid him just as much as it seems everyone should avoid Trout or the new buyers. read more

First of all, I used Inception Electric for prior work and they were always fairly priced, easy to communicate with, and I was satisfied with the work. Inception was bought by Trout Electric and they did not transfer previous clients apparently because they had no record of me. That is OK. It happens and wouldn't affect the work. Trout Electric was polite over the phone. Quick response. Clearly cared about your home as they put on booties every time they entered. Estimate was very high. As an example. I wanted a ceiling fan installed. I wanted other work done as well, but the fan was needed ASAP. Their estimate was very high: $695, which was even higher than their own fee schedule sheet. I got an estimated $300 flat rate from another vendor to install the fan. They came out and completed it within a couple hours. I can't say I would use Trout, but besides price they were fine. But their price was eye watering. read more

We always have such a great experience with Inception Electric and they have become our "go-to" electrician. We've even recommended him to a couple of friends since they're always so reliable and honest. This time, we had some issues with our outlets in our garage not working. We weren't sure why tripping the breaker didn't work so they came for a service inspection. It was a little tricky to figure out what was the reason, but Diego was able to figure it out. It was a tripped outlet behind our large shoe rack that needed to be reset. Usually, this probably wouldn't be hard to figure out, but since it was so hidden and he didn't know we had an outlet back there, I was surprised that he was actually able to deduce the problem and swap out the outlet so it wouldn't require it to trigger if one of the other outlets overamped. This shoe rack is pretty massive, and they went above and beyond to unbolt it from the wall and move it away to access the triggered outlet. Now, if there was a overage in electricity, it would go straight to the breaker. We also had some issues with our Master Bedroom LEDs and he was nice enough to go into our ceiling to troubleshoot to see if there were issues. Finally, he also ended up giving us some really good advice and knowledge about our electricity overall. This is always nice to get so we can try and troubleshoot ourselves before we call them. The owner, Marco, always hires really good people. This was our first time working with Diego, and although the people we worked with before have left his company (we asked and was told they started their own electric company), I'm happy that so far, whoever came on Marco's behalf has been incredibly knowledgeable, fair, and professional. When I called the estimate was scheduled within days (not immediately due to my schedule). Estimate given was fair, they did not try to upsell anything. It took about 2 days for me to get the estimate, and I called a few days later to schedule the work. They were about a week and a half out. We are currently in the middle of a garage makeover and our electric work (e.g. old equipment, outdated subpanel, bad wiring) was in bad need of some TLC. Its safe to say from every company we got a quote from said it was a major fire hazard. Ek! I have to tell everyone about these guys. My first installation was a Ring Flood Light on the side of my house. They did a super professional installation at a good rate. The installer never had to bring the power down and spend a fair amount of time to ensure the picture and camera angle was just right. Fast forward a few weeks...I had Inception Electric come out and run CAT 6 network cable throughout my house, add conduit to my garage, cut wall plates for the wires and run wires through the walls. My, disposer and dishwasher outlet was not working, it trip the Electical breaker when I would turn the disposer. I would reset the breaker and turn on the disposer, it would trip. I replace the outlet and switch, but it would do the same. Update: at 2am a few weeks ago we realized our couch, the carpet under the wall and the ceiling of our living room were wet. Project: Meter upgrade/relocate and subpanel installation. Not a large project, not a small project. Required trenching. Accepted bids from 7 different electrical contractors. The quotes were wildly different. Inception Electric was in the middle and after meeting with Marco and discussing the project and our specific wishes we chose Inception Electric to perform our upgrades. Why? Not pushy, knows National Electrical Code (teaches it I understand), willing to listen and accommodate our goals, fair price. The crew arrived right on time, about 10 minutes early actually and with city permit in hand. All materials and tools were on hand, nobody had to leave to retrieve additional tools or materials. This is the way all contractors should work. The crew got to work immediately and completed all upgrades the same day. Power was restored and everything worked as normal. The quality of the work was fantastic. Office staff likewise was very professional and easy to work with for job scheduling, inspection scheduling and making deposit and final payments. They refused final payment until inspection was completed, which it easily passed. Again, this is the way things are supposed to be done. Would I use Inception Electric again? Absolutely! It's unfortunate that they aren't doing solar installations as of yet otherwise I would use them for our next project of getting solar installed. I sent out a message in June for someone to come at give us a quote on some projects I needed done. Specifically getting the light in the kitchen to start working again. He was prompt in responding me on the day I sent the email and he had someone come out that same day. He did ask if it was ok if someone came out who spoke Spanish as I would point out what was wrong and what needed to be done and they would let him know and he would call to give me a quote. I agreed (I am an English only speaker) and there were no issues with the guy coming out. He seemed sweet. However, I never heard back from them regarding a quote. I called them a few weeks later and got a text back saying "I'll call you back." That call never came and I called again a few weeks later and got the same thing. I again, NEVER heard back from them.
