I lose track of time exploring because there's so much to see. The owners are knowledgeable and dedicated, and they attract a fantastic clientele. The store is consistently busy with bargain hunters, so I recommend arriving early to get the best merchandise. If you find something you love, you'd better buy it quickly--as everything sells out fast.

Even when I have gone during Halloween, probably their absolute busiest time of year, the owner is always so helpful, even though she is getting pulled in all directions!! We participated in a Pirate themed 5K this past weekend, so I decided last minute to look for something to wear. They had a whole section for Pirate outfits and I found a perfect outfit right away!! We have another 5K coming up for 4th of July so I might go see what they have!! If you need a costume or are planning to dress up for an event, they have something for ANY event!! So, I drove on down. The employee was a heavier set guy. He walked into the store a few minutes after we did and he went to the front counter. So, I walked up to him and was greeted. Told him i was looking for a specific type of jacket, which was a steampunk style jacket. the ones ive seen at Spirit look kind of cool, but never fit. I also told him kind of any long trenchcoat style jacket would work. They did not have what i was looking for and i was told to come back closer to Halloween when they get the Halloween stuff. Ok, I thought this was a year round place, guess not, but no big deal. Well, we did find a long trenchcoat style jacket that worked. There were two prices on the tag, so i asked him about the pricing since i had no clue why there were two. He said thats a rental. He said almost everything in there is rentals. Ok, fine, even Keith's i had no clue about this before coming in, but no problem. Here's the parts where the ONE STAR comes in. I did not know when i came in, but there was another customer in the store behind a partial wall from where i was. So he was fairly close, but I couldn't see him. At one point the amazing employee walked back to that guy and made some snide comment about "steampunk boy over there" to the customer. Sounded to me like they knew each other, at least somewhat. Thats when i saw the customer come around the other side of the wall trying something on. He to made some comment that i dont recall. Well, getting ready to leave, the employee comes back and tries to take me to the hats. He told me i needed a hat. I said no thats fine, I'll be wearing a mask so theres no need for a hat. He seemed to positively acknowledge that, but then he opened his mouth again and was a little nasty telling me if im wanting a steampunk jacket i will need a hat. So basically i reiterated what i had told him but was much more stern and told him im good. So heres the pros and cons of this place. PROs - A ton of costumes. CONs - Nasty employee. Place is WAAAYYYY too small for the amount of crap they have, it's hard to walk in there in some spots. Employee not very helpful and not very knowledgeable. Reason for ONE STAR? Nasty employee. Keeping in mind this was my first time here, with my kid. Would have looked around for a while longer and possibly found something, or something for my kid, but not after the way this guy treated me. Also, if you are mostly rental, but have some items for sale, wouldn't it make sense to have a small section for the items that are for sale? I mean, if that was the case, I easily could have looked in the for sale area (which there isnt one) and seen if i could find something or not. BOOOOO for Gasoline Alley. If you want the rental and want no help, go here. Otherwise, maybe check out Halloween Boutique in Costa Mesa, Triangle Square. Just place, organized and way more selection.

I am not sure if it was some specific color label and it was 50% off, but I didn't complain. Great and friendly staff. Lot's of books and kids books were super cheap. Small selection of women's and men's clothes. My jacket was a great find, so I definitely would recommend popping in because you never know what type of treasure you might find.

A lot of really well known artisan jewelers with cool up-and-comers. Worth the trip down from Los Angeles! I've…read morescored so many great finds, because when I am there to set up my closet, I naturally also browse and get to look around and see what kind of scores they have. There is always a great selection for me and my kids, my kids love browsing and they've found some really fun stuff too. From a seller end, I've done well and am super happy about the sales I've received through my closet space. This stuff would be sitting at home otherwise. I feel the seller fees are super reasonable and it's all really organized and such an easy system to get started selling. I reserve 3-4 weeks at at a time because what might not sell 1 week may sell another week so imo, it's really worth it just to try it for a few weeks! $35 is low risk to just try it out. Especially love that their website says if you don't make the $35 fee in sales, they'll cover it. "We believe in the model, and we're invested in making it work for you." That is a business model I can get behind!

My sister and I each rented a closet for one week to try out the concept. We had one closet…read morededicated to men's clothing and shoes, and another with women's clothing, hats, and shoes. Reserving the closets online was easy. $35 per closet rental seemed ok plus paying out 1/3 seemed fair. Set up would have been easier if we received the tags beforehand but we didn't want to pay extra for that so it did take us the full 2 hours to set up and tag the day of. We think the overall concept is a great idea, and we appreciate having a different way to buy and sell items locally. However, our experience as sellers was not successful financially. At the end of the week, with both closets, we only made back the cost of renting each closet and earned about $8 profit each. As shoppers, we also noticed that many of the closets felt very overcrowded. While there are certainly treasures to be found, shoppers need to dedicate a lot of time to browse because many closets are packed full of items, making it difficult to quickly find what they are interested in. One suggestion we have would be to create designated sections or marked areas for specific categories, such as men's clothing and accessories, women's clothing and accessories, children's items, and miscellaneous household goods. Another idea could be to designate certain weeks for specific categories. We believe this would make shopping more organized and help customers find the types of items they are most interested in more efficiently. We are glad we gave it a try, especially since it is a newer concept. While this selling format did not work for my sister and me, it may be a great fit for others. We wish Good Society continued success and hope our suggestions are helpful as the business grows.
