This store has been here for years, and is basically geared towards tourists, specifically rich, slender, female ones. If that's you, great, enjoy! You'll find feminine apparel, lots of dresses, pricey costume jewelry, cosmetics and perfumes, tchotchkes, some housewares (scented candles, anyone??), etc...The usual women's boutique fare. SCENT WARNING: This store offers a lot of scented items, and when we walked in, it stank to high heaven of some flowery grandma perfume that one of the employees had just stink-bombed the whole place with!! So, if you are scent-sensitive, you might want to skip this place. What would ever bring me back here? Honestly, the only time I ever go here is when my mother or a friend drags me. Otherwise, I avoid it like the plague. I know there are better deals to be had at other stores on the island, and while Menemsha (where this is actually located) doesn't have a lot of shopping options, unless you're desperate to shop, I can't really see the point. I mostly posted this review to let people know that there is NO HANDICAP ACCESS, because the front of the store has several steps.

You would think when someone enters your store you would say "hello, how are you". NOTHING! No acknowledgement whatsoever. Very snooty. After I made my purchase, I said goodbye, again, NOTHING. Went in today and the woman working the register was super kind. She even recommended I hold onto my receipt since they do exchanges (no returns) within about 10 days. Fair enough -- that's pretty standard for the smaller island shops. Unless you're at the bigger brands like Lululemon, Faherty, or Vineyard Vines, expect exchange-only. Great service either way. Highly recommend if you're in Edgartown.

But, it's on Martha's Vineyard - everything is expensive, and it's full of tourists. So you should expect to find that at Menemsha Blues just like you would anywhere else. It is similar to Black Dog, but not as big, and not as ubiquitous. I also disagree with characterizing it as a "chain." It's a local store that has several physical locations in the area. As far as their products: the quality of everything they sell is excellent. We bought several clothing items from them, and they were worth every penny. My husband seriously considers a trip back just to buy more of the polo and button-up shirts there because he loves them so much (and you can't get most of the items on their website, which is the only slight issue I have). He routinely gets stopped while wearing their items, because people like the small fish logo and it's so unusual, and they want to know where he got it. By all means, go to Menemsha Blues, and the original store in Menemsha is quite charming. If you dislike paying for quality items or buying from a store that has several locations in the area it was founded, I guess you can skip it, but you're doing yourself a disservice.
