I absolutely love the chicken cracklins and the smoked pepper jack boudin! The fried ribs are good too but Gillis has way better ribs!

It's one of my favorite foods on Earth and this place was on my shortlist of places to try. Unfortunately I wasn't able to fit it into my itinerary since it's rather far from Lafayette where I was staying, so I decided I would take the chance to order their boudin online after arriving back home in the Midwest. I have no doubt that their boudin is probably outstanding. I say "probably" because I didn't get the chance to try it after my order arrived at my door. The product arrived at room temperature during a 3-day transit time, so it was completely unsafe for human consumption. So I went and contacted them, and they were steadfast in their refusal to offer me any refunds or sincere apology for flushing $130 down the toilet. They have a warning about using ground shipping on their website due to "ongoing extreme heat". Well guess what? This warning is only on the front page of their website, and when making my order I went directly to their boudin page (via googling "Tboys Boudin", then clicking "Boudin") which doesn't have the warning. I saw no other warnings related to shipping complications other than refunds not being offered for late shipments for 2nd day air due to weather. My shipment arrived on time, so this is not the fault of the carrier. Whatever their excuse is, I have ordered other perishable food online including boudin from so many other places in the area and have NEVER had issues with my shipments not arriving cold or frozen, regardless of "extreme heat". So what gives? Well, it turns out this establishment DOESN'T USE DRY ICE IN THEIR SHIPMENTS OF PERISHABLE ITEMS, so it's no wonder my shipment arrived at room temp. Somehow it was on me to be aware of this when ordering since they mentioned they use "ice packs". So in their words, they only recommend ordering any perishable items from them using overnight delivery, and that is just impractically expensive for most people. Their boudin might very well be the best in Acadiana for all I know, but in the end I am very sad that I won't get to try it and wish this business would treat its customers better in these situations instead of assuming I might be trying to just make stuff up just to fleece them for a measly 10lb of boudin from them. If they are going to refuse to pack their perishable items properly with dry ice like virtually everyone else, they should at least do a much better job of warning customers about issues instead of leaving them on one page that people might miss, or better yet just not allowing ground shipping as an option at all for perishable items shipped to any location further than a few hundred miles. I really don't like leaving 1 star reviews, but after spending so much money and feeling so deflated over this, I have been left with no other recourse but to warn others who might be interested in their product that aren't locals.

They also had Fresh Made Pork Rinds, no worries one day I'm leaving the pork alone I decided to get the bag of Fresh Pork Rinds. They had frozen meats to go and gumbo to go. You should definitely stop by while visiting Louisiana! The Service was quick and easy and the Ambience was casual and comfortable with outdoor seating. So after performing at New Orleans Jazz Fest this past weekend, we finally made a stop to see if it lived up to the praise. Pulling up, it honestly looks like a simple gas station pit stop--the kind of place truck drivers frequent (and judging by the steady flow of trucks, that checks out). But stepping inside was a completely different experience. It was clean, open, and surprisingly welcoming. Before even ordering, we found ourselves in the frozen section grabbing items to take home--boudin, deer sausage, gumbo... you name it, they had it stocked and ready. It already felt like one of those hidden gems you're glad someone put you on to. Then came the food. My boyfriend has been talking about their fried ribs for over a year, so of course we had to order them. He also got chicken wings, while I kept it light with Cajun boudin balls and green beans. First bite of the boudin ball? I was pleasantly surprised. Flavorful, slightly doughy, but still really good. But let's get to the star of the show... The fried ribs. As someone who's lived in Texas for over 20 years, I had never even heard of fried ribs. But baby... these were it. Perfectly seasoned all the way through, incredibly tender, and honestly--you could barely even tell they were fried. Just juicy, flavorful, and done right. This review is really just to say: fried ribs are real... and In-Laws does them right. If you're ever driving between Texas and Louisiana--somewhere around Lake Charles or Lafayette--do yourself a favor and stop here. 10/10. Highly recommend.

After much per reasoning of the choices of the area we chose, Roy's Meat Market! From the moment we stepped into this beautiful establishment, we knew that all the previous reviews were true, a proven hidden gem. My first question was what is Bohdin? With that our waitress promptly pulled an entire 16 inch link out of the pan and cut it into three pieces and told us to try it and see if we liked it. It was delicious, I asked her what I owed, she said nothing. Everyone needs to try it! At that, my wife and I ordered, I ordered the shrimp. Po-Boy sandwich filled with the condiments that I selected. My wife ordered the smoked turkey salad, it was huge! We then ordered a couple of beers, and proceeded to our table to wait for our food. We were greeted by some wonderful people sitting in the dining room, who were so kind and so welcoming it felt like we were at someone's home sitting around the kitchen table with old friends. Come to find out it was the owner, and one of his longtime, trusted customers and friends. As we were getting ready to leave, we were able to have a wonderful conversation with the owner ourselves, we've made a decision. The folks down here are absolutely kind as can be and so welcoming. In regard to the food, try it all give it a chance and you won't be disappointed!

I was worried they'd wonder what some out of town folk were doing in what could have been a local haunt, but that fear was false. The shrimp po boy was perfect. The jalapeño Mayo brought just enough heat to open you up, but not so much that you hated your life. I'd definitely recommend this place.
