The Long Version: My husband and I walked by Dantech on our way back to our hotel after having dinner nearby. He spotted some retro computers from his childhood. I asked him if he wanted to go in and he initially said it was ok, but after I insisted since I know he loves that kind of stuff, he was like ok but I'll be quick. I said it was ok if he wanted to poke around. I personally have little interest in computers. Bits and Bytes, isn't that some snack from Mr. Christie? And RAM is like a male sheep, right? But why are you yelling it? Lol. But my husband loves computers. He really enjoyed poking around. And I liked the nostalgic burst of seeing some old school joysticks (I had an Atari gaming system passed down to me from one of my cousins). The store had an answering machine that takes cassette tapes too. And what looked like a VCR tape rewinder, lol. We didn't buy anything but it was fun to look around. If you're looking for some old obsolete computers or electronics, Dantech might just have it. Review #208 (2025)

Like when I bought my first iPod 5 years ago, this visit still met the same slow service. I stood around at the cash - all the while the rest of the store was pretty empty - waiting for someone to acknowledge me... I'd say it took about 10 minutes before someone so graciously accepted to take my money and let me be on my way... When I asked for a 4GB stick of RAM, besides the fact that they were misinformed on what kind my computer required, they went on to tell me that it costs "$130, but I'll sell it to you for $115" - my, what a great deal this must be one might think - well, think again. That same, identical RAM could be bought online for around $45. Essentially, their markup was more than 50%! These are among the reasons I haven't gone back in 5 years and the only reason I went this time was for convenience as it's close to my house, but clearly... nothing has changed since.

The tech who took my call was knowledgeable and asked better questions than the chat at Samsung had. He proceeded to order the part needed when he found they didn't have it in order. Tuesday morning when I called back to check he assured me the part was expected in later that day. Due to me having misremembered my VoIP phone number he was unable to reach me Tuesday afternoon when the part came in. I called back Wednesday around noon and was told to come in any time and that it would take about two hours to complete the repair. I got there around 2:20 and left my phone. I came back to the shop a little over an hour and a half later and only had to wait about 10 minutes for them to confirm the glue had set completely on the phone (new phones need to be taken apart and glued shut again. Talk about making them difficult to repair) . All this for the reasonable fee of 67.84 which included tax. And get this, they include a full year warrantee on the part replaced!! I would recommend this service to friends anytime! Note: you do need to look for the entrance at 273 rue Ste.
