They have my favourite notebook brand (clairefontaine) and I can always count on them to have fair prices. Every time I need whiteout, pencils, erasers, etc... during my exam season, I go here and pick them up. It's convenient and well stocked. Dollarama school supplies are too cheaply made and Jean coutu sells almost the same product but at unreasonable prices. Bureau en gros only has sales in September for back to school, otherwise everything is full price and not worth it since you can get it here for less. If you can, try to stop here for your school supplies :) Well worth the money.

This is my neighbourhood print shop these days. It looks like just an office supply store from the…read morefront, and they do have an exceptional collection of folders and highlighters, which I enjoy, but if you head to the back and around the corner you'll discover a clean, friendly, chill little print shop. There are a couple of computers kept physically clean and also blessedly clean of crazy downloads and popups. The print process is super easy, you can't really fuck it up, you open your file and hit print and it comes out of the machine right behind you. If you need help the men and women who work here never seem to have the mad stressed out vibe of other print shop hustlers, maybe because it is a little tucked out of the way. They are mellow but ready to help and they seem to know their stuff, though honestly my needs have been pretty plug and play so far. One of the guys who works here is deaf. He is awesome, very friendly and funny and fast. Pro tip: you do not need to yell or gesticulate wildly for him to understand you, just relax, he reads lips, everything will be fine.

I know I am gushing a bit about what is basically photo coping, but ti was so nice to be able to take my time, not be treated like the luddite that I am and to be welcomed back with a smile every time I go there.

I ordered trading cards (250 of them) and the cut was so bad, on all of them, that the whole batch is unusable. The service was rude and defensive when confronted with this. The cut is crooked and off-center on all the cards, despite having furnished a file with enough bleed area. I would never send such shoddy work to a client. They do printing (inkjet, gelatin silver, C-prints, budget prints), film development (C-41, B&W, E6), scanning (Imacon), and they also sell film. Borealis is the only lab in Canada that develops E6 (slide/positive film), like Provia or Velvia. Basically, everything you could ever ask for except for drum scanning, in which case you should go see PhotoSynthèse. There's no reason to go to Photo Service or Photo St. Denis for development when we are lucky enough to have Borealis in Montréal. Also, little hint: if you give Photo Service slide film to process, they just mail it to Borealis and pretend that they developed it (haha).
