I made an appt to remove gel polish, get a regular manicure and a paraffin treatment to alleviate the drying caused by gel color removal. The appointment was March 18 2026 w Abby, who is an epic artist w polish application. She, unfortunately was on a long vacation when I went in a week ago concerned about the condition my nails were in as a result of the gel removal. I understand that everyone responds differently to any chemical treatment so I have no issue with Abby at all. However, my nails and clear polish applied after the paraffin started bubbling the same afternoon. I gave the benefit of the doubt thinking that it's something I can handle w an emery board and moisturizer. Nope nope nope. 3 weeks later my nails were shredding as soon as they breached the nail bed- they are weak, splitting painfully into the nail bed, keep shredding and need constant filing, clipping, etc. when I went in to ask how I could fix the issue, I was passed around to 3 people- none of whom were nail techs. They refunded $19-a random amount and not close to half of the cost. I was told by Madison in management that this is normal - and to use a product called Nail Envy. A week later, 34 days after the original appointment, my nails are still shredding and splitting. It is like acid was applied. The result is that I will not be able to get a manicure until the nails completely grow out - MONTHS from now. I know if Abby would have been present, she would have had better advice and would have repaired the nails to the best of her ability. Result - I spent $ for a manicure w paraffin so didn't cut corners, and will have hideous painful nails until they grow out. I'm upset that a nail tech wasn't available to advise, I was told I'd be called in a couple of days to see how things were and to get an informed answer, which didn't happen. I bought the Nail Envy strengthener and their cuticle oil as recommended by Grok(!). $36. I have had nothing but great experiences w Impressions until this debacle. I don't know what to do - management is inadequate for problem solving. read more

After moving to the Milwaukee area from Boston, I truly struggle to find a hair salon and stylist until I met Lauren at Impressions! I could not find someone who specialized in the Keratin Complex treatments in the Milwaukee area. A few salons did Brazilian Blowouts but I was looking for Keratin specifically. I found Lauren over Instagram and was so happy to finally find someone. I got a traditional keratin treatment and haircut. Her prices are very reasonable and she did a fantastic job. She was extremely personable and knowledgeable. I really enjoyed meeting with her and loved the results! She also recommended a few products after our appointment that I purchased and have loved so far. Prior to Lauren, I've had the same hair stylist for 20 years so I was very particular in what I was looking for in a salon / stylist. when I moved and took a lot of time researching and finding someone I could trust. Impressions has a great setup and offers so many services (and has a really cute boutique as well!) I highly recommend coming to Impressions and scheduling an appointment with Lauren if you're interested in Keratin, lived in color or a haircut. I just want to add an update, I spoke to the owner about the services I recently had and she's an absolute gem! The atmospher, cleanlines, friendlyness, and professionalism is top notch! I had a very positive experience! after speaking to the owner she was thankful for pointing these things out and said the best part of being part of the team is continuing education and skills with all their new and existing talents! I hope the best success for impressions! I had gotten waxed today getting a full leg wax and Brazilian. I have been getting waxed every 4-6 weeks for the last 9 years and I've even waxed myself. This service usually takes under 55 mins and 95-99% of the hair is removed. Today the service took just about 2 hours and I was left was patches of hair all over my legs! update: she will continue her education and get more experience and continue growing!!! read more

I've gotten my hair cut and colored here with good results. I have very specific ideas about how I want my hair cut, and both Taite and Becky have listened and cut my hair in exactly the right way. Taite is also a very good colorist. Having moved here from Chicago, I'm impressed with how calm and quiet this salon often is. It's large and light, and very spacious--all positive. I also like the website layout, with its profiles of the stylists. Clients can get services at different price points, and figure out which stylists they can afford. This salon strikes me as well run. There is a lot of appealing shop merchandise in the waiting area--a good assortment of costume jewelry and cute handbags. I had the WORST hair cut ever! If I could give zero stars I would. My hair was cut all around the top with the sides definitely different short lengths as well! And the bottom half of my hair was long. I even had a photo for the stylist to go by. She needs more training for sure. My boys have been getting their hair cut here for many years. From young kids where they got the Monday night school special until now - where we squeeze it in o er their college breaks home. We try to stay with the same stylists, but people obviously move on. I try to stick with the higher star stylists so we know we have efficiency and people that get what my boys are asking for. When we moved here, we tried this place. I had no idea that we would stay for the lang haul. It's a keeper. Professional, well priced, clean.... I'm very saddened to leave a bad review, unfortunately my most recent experience with Aimee was so bad that it's worth a negative review. I'm a 30 y/o male growing my hair out and was referred by not only research but also the last stylist that cut my hair here said I should cut my hair about every 3 months for healthy growth. (Also my girlfriend loves Haley at this place.) When I arrived for my appointment and explained that I wanted to grow my hair out and was told to get it cut every three months she tried to talk me out of the haircut. I was very confused. As a business I feel like she should have tried to sell a haircut no matter what. As a customer I was very dissatisfied and felt as though she was just trying to get out of working (I don't want to make assumptions but that's how it came across because she was also presenting herself as she just rolled out of bed). She cut my hair for no longer than one minute, but washed, massaged, and blew dry my hair for more than 20 minutes. Very disappointed with the recent experience my 16 yr old had there. She saved her money, called ahead to asked for a quote for a cut and highlights and the estimate she was given was $140-150. She got there and the stylist tried to charge her $250, claiming she can change the amount however she likes. My wife had to call and speak to the manager and my poor daughter walked away with a simple cut, no highlights. Would no recommend with the many other great salons around. read more

Being a longtime patron of Impressions, it was only natural that I have my wedding updo and my bridesmaids' hair done there. Once we set the wedding date, one of the first appointments nailed down was Impressions. We seriously booked our appointments in January knowing we wanted Impressions to be part of the day. A few weeks before the wedding, I scheduled my hair and makeup test with Sarah, bridal hair and makeup guru for the salon. I brought in images of what I wanted. She worked from those images and my makeup description to create a preliminary style. On the day of the wedding, I had a few mods to the hairstyle and makeup. Sarah rolled with the changes very well. She even pulled a few bobby pins when the hair wasn't just right. She's a perfectionist to a tee with bridal hair. She's also incredibly sweet and saw me struggling with a rehearsal dinner, riesling induced hangover. She kindly let me eat Saltines and drink Sprite while she did my hair. I can't say enough good things about how awesome my hair was for the wedding. It was exactly what I envisioned for the wedding. The makeup was equally perfect. All of my bridal party raved about how awesome Impressions is as a salon. They had a wonderful time working with the stylists. Both girls looked amazing in their updo's and makeup. We had a great, wedding morning at Impressions with their wonderful staff. Not a big fan. I really did wanted to like this place just because I've been searching so long for a stylist I can go to more than once but unfortunately that wasn't the case. Booked a haircut and color. I supposedly got the top stylist but wasn't crazy about the haircut. As for color it was OK not great. I did the balayage. So after the appointment my stylist recommended to achieve the color I wanted I would have to come back. My hair was dark and I wanted to get close to light ash brown/blondish as possible. So I took her advice and booked for the next day but with another person since she was too pricey for me the second time around ($180)!! For the second time around( which seriously I don't understand why would a stylist recommend back to back bleaching) I was desperate enough to do it because I had an important weekend and had no time to wait! bad idea!! Talked to the stylist and told her exactly what I wanted and of course I knew that it was impossible to achieve my color within two appointments but did not expect it to look worse! I just wanted her to go over the existing balayage but somehow she added new ones and my hair ended being 3-4 different shades of brassiness! I thought OK she was going to put toner on and it will be OK but she used the blue shampoo thing to keep the blonde from being brassy but that obviously did not help. I should've stuck with the previous stylist bc at the end it was about the same price! She charge me $34 for the blue toner/shampoo. I end up paying close to $300 for the two days. I left feeling mislead and unsatisfied. I looked at myself in the car mirror and was crying. My hair was so brassy. I wish she could've used a different color toner. I seriously was embarrassed of my hair that I had to put it up in a bun and ran to walgreens to grab box color to tone it down! Nice salon but not for color! I have been going to Impressions for about 2 and a half years and have always left feeling beautiful with my cut and color. The kicker is, I was living in Minnesota at the time and I totally commuted for the hair services at Impressions. THAT's how awesome it was. I have been a platinum blonde for about 2 years now, and I had the color initially done at Impressions. It was beautiful off the bat and so I kept it up at impressions too. Once I got the color done in Minneapolis and it was..not right. I went back to Impressions and the color correction was amazing. (My hair had a weird gray-purple tint to it before...scary.) That's what keeps me coming back. I have had a facial, nail services as well as hair services and even a massage at Impressions. The attention to detail is apparent and they have always taken their time with me to make sure we are on the same page (which can be very tricky when you're getting a dramatic cut!) The front desk is attentive and welcoming and their boutique area is perfect for any last minute gifts you might need or some cute stuff for yourself. Only downside is sometimes the place can feel sort of busy, which can be tricky for some true relaxation. I would recommend this place for nail services and hair services rather than massages. I live in Salt Lake City now but when I visit the Milwaukee area again, Impressions will be one of the first stops I make! read more

I went in to have my hair colored and cut, I was figuring 80-120, no 189! Color was not what I wanted, I asked for ashy medium brown -- I got warm dark brown. I even came home with dye on my face. It was later fixed by another stylist and thankfully she did not get dye anywhere. I am glad that it was fixed, but I still did not have a good experience with this place. I am new to the area and had a hair emergency. I went to a different salon which left me with orange fried hair and a cut that they told me to come back to finish because they didn't' have time. Impressions FIXED everything! I was so impressed with the team work. Jaime, my main stylist,had 2 other girls help so I got exactly what I wanted and everything was fixed. Last week I walked in to Impressions with a serious color correction challenge - just the day before my hair had been destroyed by another salon... my roots were orange and I had streaks of grey / purple from a terrible bleach and toning job. It was my first time at Impressions and I had Sarah - not only did she totally fix my hair but the price was completely reasonable, especially given the complexity of the color correction. It had been way too long since she had her hair cut and she was thinking she would take about 8 inches off and she would donate it. It ended up being 13. She (and I) love it! I've been coming to Impressions for as long as I can remember. Even before I became a client, my stepmother and father would get their hair done there and I remember coming in with them. Eventually I started coming myself after my sister got a color and cut done by Madison and I loved it so much, I stared going. She always knows exactly what I want and I've never left unhappy after having my hair done by her. I recently got a wax done by one of the estheticians, Carla, and she was great as well. I'll be going back to her for a facial asap! I love the atmosphere. The staff is so friendly and they're all very relaxed and easy going. They're all so nice and it's such a great experience every time I go that I have no problem spending my money there. I'm more than happy to support their business! I'd come in more often if my budget would allow!! I love that they have a relaxed dress code and all the staff wears fun, stylish clothing - not all black like most places (how boring)! They use great products like Aveda, Redken, and Pureology (my personal favorite) and also carry all kinds of cute non-hair items like purses, scarves, jewelry, and even the cutest little iPod speakers. They play a great variety of music too! I honestly can't imagine going anywhere else! I've gone to other places over the years and even a couple since I started going to Impressions because I was able to get a deal or something but none of them even come close to Impressions! I have come here on multiple occasions over a 5 year period. Never stuck with 1 stylist however yesterday I got a trim, color touch up and shelac manicure done by Jamie. She did such a great job and fixed a mediocre highlight job I had done a few months ago. I went into the salon unhappy about my hair and she was able to help me pin point exactly what it was that she would need to do for me to be happy. I don't know much about hair so I really appreciate a stylist that isn't afraid to give suggestions and input. I would highly recommend going to Jamie she was so sweet and friendly and spent 4.5 hours with me (nails/cut/color)! Will def. go back to her, she stood out for me from all the previous stylists at impressions not to say anything negative about the other stylists i went to over the years at impressions but Jamie stands out! read more

I came here with my family to get pedicures and manicures before my wedding and it was quite the experience. Booking the appointment was fine, and check in was okay, but front desk staff weren't particularly friendly. When being seated for our nail appointments my niece put her hands on the manicure table to sit and it tipped over. Seemed like a faulty table, especially because it was one wheels. One nail technician was great in helping clean up, but the nail tech with my niece, who's 10 mind you, was very rude. She continued to be rude throughout the entire service. This was a special day for a 10 year old and the lady didn't talk to her at all and finished 15 minutes before everyone else. I cannot imagine her services were completed as they were supposed to be if it finished that early, and started late because of cleaning up the spills. My sister received a shellac manicure and it was incredibly sloppy. My mother and I had good services, but 2 out of 4 isn't that great in my mind. I wouldn't recommend going back personally, which really disappoints me. read more

My hairstylist is Angela and she's styled my hair for 6 years. I love the atmosphere, and the front desk is so welcoming.

I was very disappointed. I asked for low and high lights and got the impression that the stylist did not want to go through the hassle of doing that, so she just added more highlights. I was also charged $16.00 for a Restructure/Pureology Treatment and $115.00 for just more highlights. She shampooed my hair and applied cream rinse and before she dried my hair applied a spritz of something, so I'm not sure when the "treatment" was applied. I will not be coming back. My daughter just returned from Wisconsin on vacation with a friend; While there they decided to treat themselves to a new doo and a pedicure. She called me to tell me how great everything was and how wonderful they people there were. She was rubbing salt into the wound because she was getting the royal treatment and I was not!
